She is the spell of magic on him. She can make his heartless heart beat in a second just by a smile on her face. He can read her like no one can. They are not meant for each other for just this birth, but for eternity.
Haze.
The dinner went silently as I ate my dinner with an awkward silence. I am not socially awkward but the fact that I am their future Queen wasn't actually my favorite idea.
As all of them left after dinner I changed into my sweats again and sat on the couch with one of the book I carried with myself. I was pretty engrossed in the book that I didn't even notice that it was past one. But I was not even a bit sleepy.
Hayden was still working on some issues in his study. I stood up and went to kitchen to drink water when I heard footstep approaching me. I didn't even had to guess the person.
"You're still awake?" Hayden's voice greeted me.
"Same goes to you." I said placing my empty glass in the sink and sitting on the counter facing him.
"I was just stuck with some issues." He said tiredly and I knew it was something important and really disturbing.
"What's the matter? You look tensed." I said swaying my legs as I rose my eyebrows at him. He looked at me surprised as he stepped little closer to me.
"Never thought you'll ask something that is bothering me." His words hit me hard. Why was I concerned about him?
"Anyways, just some issues about rouges." He muttered in anger as he fisted his hand.
"What issues?" I pressed further, it must be important if he is worried about this being a King.
He narrowed his eyes at me while he kept silent. I waited for his answers which I knew I wasn't prepared for. He clenched his jaw as he closed his eyes to calm himself.
"Hayden." I said placing my hand on his forearm and I felt tingles with our touch. His eyes snapped open at my touch and his eyes turned a little darker shade of brown.
"There is a member of pack involved with rouges. Nobody knows how to c***k the security except some of my pack members." He said tightly and his tone was enough deadly to make me shiver.
"Somebody is betraying you." I said bluntly. He just looked at me silently as he spoke nothing. We stood there holding each other's gaze for god knows how long.
"I don't know who betrayed me Crystal, the one who is conspiring against us with those rouges." He said venomously.
I spoke nothing. I know how it feels to be betrayed by someone who you consider as a family. I placed my hand over him. No words were coming out of my mouth as I looked deeper in his eyes. They were like a spell which was hard to break.
"Don't you worry about it Crystal, I'll take care of it. I have something for you." He said taking my hand and pulling me from the counter and started to walk towards his room.
"What do you have for me?" I asked with little bit sass.
You see, our soft and comfy moment only last for few moments and then we return to our previous selves.
He narrowed his eyes at my change of tone, warning me to behave.
He removed a box from his closet and placed it over my palms and I looked at him questioningly. He nodded his head telling me to open the present. I looked at the box warily but opened it, none the less.
"A cell phone?" I asked with little excitement. Don't get me wrong but social life is as important as personal life.
"I can't take you to your family which is wrong. So you can talk with them whenever you want." He said casually but I could sense nervousness in his voice.
Before I could have reacted to his gift, he looked at me with a pointed look.
"But, don't misuse this facility Crystal." He said sternly. I grinned at him and without thinking I thrown my arms around him, clutching him tightly.
His body tensed under my sudden affection and I could hear his increased heartbeat as I pushed myself away from him.
Don't, don't you even dare Crystal. Don't forget your promise. It's just a stupid trap Crystal. I remind myself mentally.
"Thank you." I said biting my lips and sitting on the edge of the bed. He nodded his head in response as he sat on the couch grabbing some pillows and blankets.
"It's late, you should sleep. I'll take the couch, you can sleep on the bed." And with that he switched off the lights.
I closed my eyes trying to sleep but it was nearly impossible to sleep, especially when your mind is full of chaos. I clutched my pillow tightly and my heartbeat increased as my past flashed in front of me.
"Always remember Crystal, life will never play fair with you. It will give you thousand reasons to give up but there will always be one reason not to give up. There is always one reason that makes you Crystal Kingston, one brave and ambitious woman. So whenever life is unfair with you just try to find that one reason to keep you going." My mother's words rang in my ears.
My heart was aching terribly, I was missing her. Why does she has to leave me here, when I need her the most. When I need her comfort, her wisdom and her motherly hugs. I want her to tell me which direction to choose and which way to go.
Suddenly the lights were switched on and I squinted my eyes at sudden light. Hayden stood up from his couch and walked towards me.
"What's the matter, Crystal?" He asked softly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked sitting facing him.
"Crystal." He said in a warning tone.
"Look, just sleep. It's really nothing, I am just having some trouble in sleeping, nothing else." I lied effortlessly.
"Like I can't tell that it's not just nothing." He snapped at me leaning little forward.
"You are speaking as if you know me from years Hayden. But face the reality, we are bonded to a relation, we both don't want and you know nothing about me." I snapped back.
He looked at me for a long minute with some weird emotion I couldn't put finger on.
"So you think I don't know anything about you, huh?" He asked in a deadly tone, my statement obviously offended him.
"Ya, I just said that." I challenged him back.
"You are nineteen years old, with stubborn attitude. You don't have any favourite colour nor do you like any makeup and long hairs. You have free spirit and you don't believe in b*****e. You love reading and your only dream is to become an author one day. You have a very special relation with Nathan and your mother Amanda. But for some reason you really dislike your father and you misunderstand it by hate, but you don't really hate him. Something really bad happened in your past which made you hate relationships and love." He finished with a small victorious smirk.
I looked at him astonished, every single thing he said was true, of course excluding the part of Amanda being my mother. No words came out of my mouth for the person standing in front of me.
He can read me like an open book and I don't have any words to define my emotions. My heart fluttered at the thought of him being this attentive towards me. And the other hand I felt a shiver of fear across me, he can read me like no one ever did.
"Crystal, believe or not, I am here always. Even if you want me or not." He spoke softly and slowly making sure I get what he wants to tell me.
I stared in his brown eyes and all the words died within my mouth. His eyes spelled a magic all over my body and I couldn't help but feel captivated within them, against my will.
And what scared me the most was my soul was leaning towards his soul. My hands were itching to trace across his face and my heart, my heart was begging to accept him, accept him as my soulmate.
