Alpha Erick pov
We were in the doctors office waiting for the result, i knew my father had been sick for a few weeks now, and i needed to get him here, so we went to the pack doctors that was about thirty minute drive, our lands are huge and long, We couldn’t shift because dad was to sick, so we took the other car while Levonna checked out the other one, I still remember that girl when she first came into our home, she was scared and so young, now she's nineteen. i had taught her how to work on cars, since she wanted to do it, she was more of a tomboy than anything else. While we were here, the doctor took blood, did x rays, and a few other things he had to do. He told dad to get dressed and he will meet us in his office, i felt like we been at the doctors all day, but it was worth it to get to know what is going on, When the doctor finally came into the room, he set down with a pile of paperwork and meds for dad, He didn’t look to happy at all, he looked upset, To him and most of the pack dad was still the alpha, some grew up with him, I understand how they felt sometimes i wanted to give the title back to dad, but i didn't want him to ever think i was a failure, even thought he would never say i was,
“Sir it doesn’t look so good, we did x rays, got blood and did a head scan, your up in age sir, your over three hundred years old, it looks like you have just two years left, the disease had spread through the body, you need to take care of matters, and let the family know to be prepared,” disease, that is the worst thing anyone could hear, two years i have left with my father, the meds will help with the pain, and will help him eat, how will i tell the boys, how will i tell Levonna, the meetings with the ladies will have to be postponed until this is done, i’m sure my boys will understand, This is something that I thought would never happen to my father, he's the only family i have besides my kids, i had to be strong for him,
“Doctor Ethan, are you sure about this?”
“Yes sir, I am. the meds will help with the pain, and will help him eat, make sure he takes a pill twice a day, once in the morning, and once before bed, sir i'm sorry i know this has to be hard.” After we signed the paperwork and paid for our visit, we left, dad said nothing on the way home, we drove in silence, when we got home, i linked the boys to meet me and grandfather's house, I already knew that Levonna was home, i saw her heading inside when we drove up, Once we were all inside we waited until Levonna came into the living room, she looked like she just gotten out of the shower, she looked from me to dad, then the boys, no one knew what was going on, not until i started talking,
“Levonna, please sit down anywhere will be fine, Listen guys, Your grandfather is going to be needing your help a lot, The doctor said its not that long, he has several years left, im sorry boys but the alphas daughters will need to be put off until then, i'll give them a call, and let them know, im sure they will understand about this. Levonna you’re always here with grandfather, so you will be more of a help, He will need to take a pill once in the morning and once at night with food and drink. If I am not here, please make sure he takes them,”
‘Dad, i think it's best that its best that grandfather and Levonna moves into the pack house with us, that way he will have more help, I think it needs to be done today, You can take grandfather into the house now, and We will get his clothes and things he will need, Levonna can pack her own things and move into a room next to his so she could keep an eye on him.”
Mateo pov
I was looking around at everyone, they looked so worried, my worry was what will Levonna do once i am gone, she will have no one but Erick, but he will soon step down, they were talking to me like i couldn't even do things on my own, i had to step up and stop this, I could tell that Levonna was fighting back tears, she was a strong wolf, she has helped us so much, I had enough of them talking like i wasn’t here, so i stood up on my feet,
‘Listen everyone, i have conditions before i even move back into the pack house, the first one is do not treat me like i can not do anything, i can still walk, talk, get up on my own, use the bathroom on my own, and many other things, I will pack my own bags and you will take them the house,
“two you treat me like you have always treated me, do not treat me with pity. i won't stand for that,”
and three i can take my own meds, when the time comes and i know it will we all know it will, i want as your grandmother wanted, burn me to ash so i could be with your grandmother, I do not want to see the sadness in your eyes, be strong and be the alphas i know you can be, your father will be stepping down soon to join someone am i correct?” Erick looked at his dad like he was surprised that he knew,
“Yes it's correct i found my second chance mate, the mate i should have had first, she will be here tomorrow to meet everyone, Boys please treat her with respect, she will be the new luna until i step down, is that clear?”
“Yes sir, all three of them replied to him, And Levonna , she can’t wait to meet you, i told her all about you, she understands what happened when you was younger, so do not be scared okay,” she nodded unsure what this means for her, will she still have a home after grandfather is gone, she has a few years left with him, she wants to make him proud of her, she has done so much since the day she started living here,
