-Freddy's P. O. V.-
This day has been a torture so far. That's not how my time in Lycademy was supposed to begin. Val always told me how much fun she had in this place. How she and her friends ruled here and pulled all those crazy stunts. I wanted that. I wanted to make some great friends and just be myself away from my Pack, where I'm always seen as a future Alpha's baby brother, Good Boy Freddy.
So why the first thing that happened to me here is pure drama?! For f**k's sake I punched my Cousin over a Girl already and it has been barely one day since I came here.
Max has been a pain in the ass since this morning. He woke me up with his hurling in the bathroom like a f*****g cat. I never thought I would have to hold my Bro's hair while he does that. Isn't it a girl's thing?
Anyways, after he got rid of all of his stomach content we headed straight to the canteen to put some fluids in his system. I was actually glad that we'll be there this early in the morning because I seriously wasn't ready to face Matie yet. Didn't she really have any decency to seek comfort in my family member's arms? I know they are friends and there is a chance I overreacted but still, she has a Mate she shouldn't be hugging other guys.
Max and I ate a quick bite, well my new friend drank only as the smell of bacon made him go green again and just when I thought that morning would be peaceful we had to bump into Val and Matilda.
She looked absolutely gorgeous. Well, she always does and I don't need no f*****g bond to tell me that. But she was so sad and worried that I couldn't shake off the feeling that this day won't be good. Especially when she asked if we could have a talk later. Every guy knows what 'The talk' means. But f**k it, I'll face it like a man, or at least I'll try to keep my s**t together in front of her.
Our training evaluation was a pure formality, even though my mind has been elsewhere it wasn't hard to show my strength. I'm an Alpha blood for Goddesse's sake, it would be embarrassing if I wouldn't make it to the Advanced Classes.
Max however, had a bit of a struggle. During the first stage, which was a five mile run, he threw up three times. But in the end he managed to get to the same group as I did, although he was abit cranky for having the last spot. I think he took it like a slap in the face being the next in line Alpha that performed worse than some of the Gammas, I saw he wasn't proud of himself.
The rest of my classes were fairly boring, we made a few acquaintances and possible enemies. Maybe I'm exaggerating but this one Girl was pretty awful. When she found out Max and I were both Alpha born, she glanced at each of us and started acting strangely. I wasn't sure till Max pointed it out to me, but she was all over me touching my biceps and hair whenever she spoke. I mean, get a grip girl, we've literally just met. It was like all she cared about was the rank. I'm not sure if I ever ran as fast as I did away from her.
When our first day of lectures was over we returned to our condo and Max went straight to his room and I think passed out because I could hear his light snores all the way in the living room.
I didn't feel like joining my sister's friends in the dining hall, especially if it meant facing Vigo and Matie, so I busied myself by making my own lunch. It's not that I was hiding, but I know how Valkyrie is. She always has my back and if things between me and Matie would go south I knew for a fact that Val will be forced to choose sides and knowing how overprotective she was with me, which means it would affect her friendship with my Mate. It was like I was three all over again and she was walking me through the Pack lands by hand introducing me to everyone on the way. Yeah, it felt like I had two crazy Mothers and one fairly rational Father growing up and I think it's time to step out of their shadow.
I was just done eating and I hopped on the couch and started watching something on the TV, doing my best to take my mind off a certain brunette, when a soft knock on the door spread through the room. I had a feeling of who that might be, so my heart rate momentarily sped up and I felt my palms get sweaty. Wow, that's real bravery.
I reluctantly got off the couch and opened the door to stand face to face with Matilda. Goddess, she really is gorgeous. All of her is absolute perfection, but the most mesmerizing are her eyes, the brightest shade of violet hidden behind her long and thick lashes, the trademark of the Alistair family. She could make any guy fall to his knees with just one look from those hypnotic eyes.
It was like I was in trance seeing her here, and I think I was making things even more awkward with staring at her like a f*****g stalker, so I cleared my throat nervously.
"Hi Matie." - I said finally breaking the silence.
"Hi Freddy, can we talk?"
Ah yes , here comes 'The talk'. Hell, I didn't enjoy my Mate for too long, did I? What a loser!
"Sure, you want to come in?" - I asked trying my best not to show her how pathetically nervous I was inside.
"Is Max here?"
"He is, but I think he's unconscious, still suffering after Memory eraser effects." - I said, releasing an awkward chuckle and face-palming myself internally.
"Oh right, Vigo has been going through the same today." - she said smirking, and the mentioning of my badass, white wolf cousin brought a pang of immense jealousy.
"Am ok, so come on in." - I said composing myself and letting her in.
She sauntered through the room curiously looking around at our barely unpacked stuff, when she took in hand a picture frame and I saw her brows furrow.
"Who's this? She's pretty." - she asked, looking at the picture of me and a ginger girl. Was it jealousy I sensed in her tone?
"That's Nat, my friend from Mountain Howlers."
"Nat as in Natalie Boyl, one of the heirs to their Pack?" - she glanced at me, raising her brow in question.
"Yes."
"Is she your girlfriend?"
I chuckled to that, and Matie's expression changed into a deep frown. s**t, she was jealous.
"No, she's just a friend and always has been just that. We just have a few things in common, like badass siblings, who we'll never be able to catch up to." - I explained.
"Oh." - she said, putting the photo back to its original place.
"So what did you want to talk about?" - I asked after another moment of her snooping around. It's best to rip the bandaid off.
"Us." - she said bluntly, turning to face me and I nodded sadly. - "Can we sit?"
"Sure." - I followed her to the couch like I was going on a scaffold.
"Look Freddy, yesterday went all kinds of wrong." - she started.
"Yeah, I know, I was there."
"So we should move on from there. I know I overreacted a bit, but so did you. So what I wanted to say is that…"
"For f**k's sake just say it Matie, you don't want to be with me, right? You've chosen Vigo." - I cut her off.
"What?! Eww, no! His my cousin!"
"What?! Really?"
"Yes, really. Our mother's are related." - she said.
"But Val always said that your Mom thinks she's related to every white wolf there is, I thought it was like with me, calling Alpha Springer Uncle Falco."
"No, Vigo and I really share the blood." - she confirmed.
"Oh."
"Yeah, Oh. But that's not important. About me hugging him yesterday she was just having a hard time, so it was just a friendly gesture nothing more."
"s**t, I owe him an apology, then." - I said rubbing my face with my hands.
"Well, not necessarily. He may not remember anything." - she giggled - "But back to the chase. I want to start over, no screaming, no misunderstandings, just a new fresh start for us. If you'll have me of course." - she said nervously, playing with her fingers.
"Seriously? I thought you came here to reject me."
"Why would I do that?"
"I don't know." - I shrugged - "Because you are you, and I am me."
"What was that supposed to mean?" - she narrowed her eyes on me. Great, we are going into that direction again. Good job, Freddy.
"Because you are a gorgeous, smart, funny future Alpha, and I am just a weaker sort, not worthy of…"
But before I could finish my whining her lips were on mine shutting me up. It was like a dream come true. I was kissing Matilda Alistair! The main character of a few of my wet dreams was here with me kissing me with a passion. I couldn't contain my joy and I wrapped her in my embrace tightly and reciprocated her movements deepening the kiss. Goddess, her lips were amazing, soft and plum, even better than I imagined them to be. Just perfection.
But when a small moan escaped her lips I felt bolder and flipped her toned body under me taking full advantage of her body heat so close. I started kissing her jaw and neck, putting one of my hands under her shirt and caressing her smooth skin. How can someone this strong be so delicate at the same time?
Then my hand started going up from her belly button towards her ample breasts, and when I was about to feel them in my hand she was suddenly gone. I mean like really gone, she was no longer under me. I started frantically looking around the room, hoping sincerely that it wasn't just another dream, when my eyes landed on her standing a few feet from the couch holding her lips.
"What the f**k just happened?" - I asked confused.
"I think we should go slower, Freddy."
"Sure, but what was that?"
"Well, that was me."
"Did you just freeze me out to get away from me?" - I asked in disbelief.
"Kinda." - she admitted apologetically. That was somehow offensive. Did she think I wouldn't understand if she said it to my face? Talking about insecurities.
"Well, fine. Slower it is, but don't use your powers on me, OK?"
"OK." - I smiled at her, feeling like the luckiest fool there is. It dawned on me that she just accepted me as her Mate. I stood up from the couch and reached for her hand kissing her knuckles.
"I'm honoured to be your Mate, Matilda. Thank you for giving us a chance." - her cheeks got a beautiful shade of pink and I never thought that bold Matilda Alistair could get flustered. I guess there is more to that girl than meets the eye. I can't wait to find that all out.
