Chapter 29
Reminiscing
Lorie stared out at the sky, wondering if she would be able to stay here for another couple of days. It was a quaint, little town in japan near the sea, and it was home to a lot of tourism. The beach where she stood right now was completely covered with people, with families.
But would she be safe here?
She didn’t know how far those monsters was willing to push everything.
They wanted her and her sister's life. She knew that. From the moment her mother, her sweet, beautiful mother, had brought scream for her name,
Lorie had seen different kind of monsters. And they are all the same, a horrible excuse for a human being.
She had seen all chaotic wars at present of hungry sharks.
They all want power, money and a kingdom made of blood and sins.
That had really sickened her, and what she hated most, people believed that lies are beautiful soothing world.
Yes, Lorie came from an ordinary family, but her relationship with her mother and father had always been solid. When she thought her parents died, she and her sister held each other backs, until those monster came out of nowhere, and was intent on destroying them. She hated them to her core, and that didn’t help.
Even when the abuse and violence had started, she had a firm belief that she can protect her sister.
A gust of wind hit her and she was wearing a mask to hide her face. With her identify haunted by those sharks, she didn’t want anyone to see her. In short trust is not a good thing she need right now.
Fortunately, until now those sharks are still around, hindi pa man nila sila nahahanap ay kailangan niya pa rin mag-ingat. Kailangan niyang protektahan ang kaniyang kapatid.
Though it's a good thing that she looked nothing like she did when she was in past few years.
Suddely she remember one thing, Inilabas ni Lorie ang isang pirasong papel sa kaniyang bulsa and she gripped it like she depends her life on it.
The picture was a cold reminder of the last time she was happy, when her family was happy. She should probably dye her raven hair, but it grieved her to change the locks that her mother spent hours lovingly caring for. They would sit in her father’s study, and her mother would brush her and her sister's hair, waiting for him to finish. Rovie and Lorie looked similar to her mother, only lighter, and fairer-skinned. But Rovie burned easily in the sun, and always had to use sun lotion, which she hated wearing.
She remembered her mother rubbing the awful stuff all over Rovie, saying if she wasn’t careful she’d burn to a crisp. Then she would watch her mother do it herself. It was amazing how touching, how meaningful those memories were. At the time, they were just a nuisance, but now it was something more.
Pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind, she turned away from the sight of the ocean, and began to walk back to the main path.
The scent of doughnuts, fried chicken, and fries was heavy in the air. She wasn’t hungry, and even if she was, she wouldn’t eat outside.
Those monsters was a vicious, and would probably find some way to find her and hurt her but what scares her is the fact that her sister might be in danger.
There must be someone hired to kill her. There are many groups like that.
She didn’t know until when they can hide. There was a lot about the world that she didn’t know, and that scared her. Leaving the busy streets, she made her way back to the luxurious hotel that she needs to be at. Without looking back, she made her way toward her door.
But as Lorie closed the door she hoped she can do the same with her past.
The beatings, the cruelty, that hadn’t started until her mother and father had become weak. One day her mother had this ethereal beauty. She was a sweet, charismatic, and beautiful soul. The next day she seemed unable to form simple sentences, becoming weak, frail, and a complete shell of her former self. Little by little, Lorie had watched her mother suffered and it triggers hatred within her.
Is she, though?
She release a deep breath as she imagine those sinister eyes from those monters that invades her head.
At times, they’re the best part of a dream she named nightmare, they’re the most horrifying thing in a nightmare that she grew accustomed with, the one thing that jolts her awake in the middle of the night, sweating, shivering, and shaking
.
No she's over with that.
Alam ni Lorie na malakas na siya. Her doubts won't betray. Because now, it’s her turn to draw nightmares among her nemesis.
-----
Alexis stared at the window, he gripped his wine glass in a manner of a viper coiling around the cold glass.
He believes that the truth isn’t what you see. It’s what you make of it.
There’s no such thing as a wholesome truth or a perfect reality. There are people and agendas.
There is peace and war.
There is losing and winning.
He have come a long way in his search for the actual truth—his own truth, the one they stripped him of thirty years ago.
When they made a machine out of him, they never thought it would come back and destroy them from the inside out.
They underestimated him.
He love it when they do that. It means he will have the best time ripping them apart, crunching their bones, and watching blood ooze from all of their holes.
That’s his system, his reality. And no one will be able to stop him.
Not even death.
It can try, but I’ve come too far to be intimidated by something as insignificant as death.
When he go down, he's taking every last one of them with him, their names and titles included.
If he will be erased from this world, so will they. If he would become a shadow, so will they.
This is his resurrection.
He stand in front of the huge mansion
in a secluded area of this country he hated but need to visit.
The walls are high enough that no one can peer over. There are no tall buildings nearby, which is a tactical move to eliminate the threat of snipers. Wires surround the walls’ edges like in a military camp, and several cameras placed at regular intervals along the walls blink red.
If he take a step forward, he’ll be swarmed by guards who won’t hesitate to shoot him a hundred times just to make sure he am indeed finished.
They’re so serious he can’t even play dead with their kind.
When they committed their crimes, they knew they had to hide in palaces like these, palaces where they’re completely safe from the world.
But not from him.
Never from him.
Alexis step forward so he directly in front of the gate. It doesn’t open, but as expected, booming, unsubtle footsteps come from behind him. They never learned to cover their tracks as he taught them.
Oh well. He guess thay can’t make any soldier into an assassin.
“Put your hands up in the air,” one of the men booms in a thick Japanese accent.
But he wanted them to think like that.
He do as he was told because, while death doesn’t scare him, it would be a f*****g waste if the cause of his death were holes in the back. Not only that, the one who would get the credit for killing the legend that is him would be this weak yakuza.
Fucking shameful, He wouldn’t be able to look at his reflection anymore.
Not that he have in the past couple of years. But that’s another tragic story not fit for the present.
The sound of a clicking gun comes from behind him before he speaks again.
“Hands behind your head and turn around slowly. One wrong move and I will spill your brains on the ground.”
Alexis spin around and, sure enough, there are three of them. Two are holding guns to their sides while their leader, a senior guard with grim features and an asymmetrical mustache that’s more comical than intimidating, is pointing an AK4 in Alexi's direction.
Really?
His weapon of choice is sure as f**k not comical.
Upon seeing his face, his eyes widen in clear surprise, and he falters for a fraction of a second.
That’s the only opening Alexis need.
He charge forward and elbow him in the throat. The moment his hold loosens on the AK4, he snatch it then pull his gun from his waistband.
The two other men spend a long time pausing in shock. By the time they point their guns at him, he's already aiming the AK4 and his weapon in their faces.
“Didn’t I tell you a moment of hesitation is all it takes for you to get killed?” I stare at their senior guard, because I recognize him—and his hideous mustache—from before. These are new recruits, looking barely out of their pubescent years.
He curses in japanese then goes back to English. “What are you doing here? You couldn’t stay the f**k away?”
“Pay respect, peasant.” he smirk as the man curses again.
They all hate him.
The fact that no one can take it away makes them hate him even more.
Hatred doesn’t matter. Alexi's goal does.
Becoming a member of the elite group in an organization? He don’t give a f**k about it for his plans has finally coming to fruition now.
He motion at them with the tip of the AK4.
“Now, take me to your boss.”
The senior guard puffs his chest out, and his mustache twitches as if participating in the action.
“Why should I?”
“Your Master and I have a war to start. Unless you want me to use your head as a souvenir?”
"You don’t need to be scared I am here to ask some information. But your mustache want me to draw some blood."
If power eludes you, then you have nothing.
It’s not only about being at the top. If you’re high enough, no one touches you or those close to you.
No one dares to look at you, and when they do, they are blinded by the non-negotiability you project back at them.
That’s why he don’t and will never stop.
The higher he go in the ranks, the more they respect will respect him, and one day, they will all bow down to his feet.
He can have his own empire.
