Mr.Black
New York.
“You cannot just kill the girl because you think she had something to do with Evan’s death.”
Anton argued impatiently. He paced up and down in the office as the tension hung heavy in the air between him and Mr. Black.
“Why not?” Eric shrugged, sipping from the short crystal glass full of whiskey.
Anton pressed his lips, staring down at the heavyset figure sitting deep in the leather armchair; Eric sat facing the large glass window looking out on the city. It amazed Anton how his boss could make such decisions without blinking an eye. He knew that the years of running the company had an impact on him, but this situation was spiraling out of control.
“She could be a complete innocent in the matter.”
Anton pushed the matter as he brushed his brown hair away from his green eyes. Concern painted over his face. He knew that this conversation could save or kill someone.
Eric, irritated, tapped his finger on the leather armrest, his eyes fixed on the whiskey in the glass. It swirled around like golden amber dancing on its own. He knew that Anton was right, but he didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. If this woman was guilty she had to pay.
He frowned for a second, remembering the pain and blood of his past. His muscles tensed up under his suit before he pushed the memory as far back as he could. Taking the last sip of his drink, Eric stood up, pushing the heavy chair from him with such brute force that it almost tipped over.
Anton took a few steps back, startled by the sudden movements.
Sighing, Eric moved closer to the window, feeling his bodyguard’s judging eyes on him.
“If you have something to say, say it.” He snapped.
Anton watched as Eric’s full figure filled his view. Eric was a well-built man and his dangerous presence could fill any room in mere seconds. Anton knew that any man that had to face his old friend would lose in an instant.
“Will you be able to gather enough information to make this decision easier for us?”
Eric broke the silence, staring at the traffic moving slowly under the tall building, clenching his glass in his hand. He hated waiting to make decisions. He didn’t have any patience.
Anton rubbed the nape of his head before he nodded, locking eyes with his boss.
“Yes.”
“Fine, we will investigate the matter before I make a decision.” Eric kept his voice level as he turned towards Anton.
Anton could not hide the relief that washed over his face. “Thank you, Eric.”
Eric gave a faint smile. Anton had been his bodyguard since his own father was killed in a suspicious accident, and they had become good friends ever since. He was someone that he could rely on and someone that he trusted more than anyone in his company, but sometimes his good heart bothered him.
Anton shifted his shoulders and straightened his tie, “I know that the 'Wincher Company' had a lot to do with her. She has been seen entering and exiting the building a number of times. She is the only lead we have.”
He quickly made his way towards Eric’s desk. Taking out a large surveillance picture under a few documents that lay scattered on Eric’s table.
Anton scanned the picture one last time before holding it to Eric.
“She has a unique hair color, I am sure that the new CEO of Wincher would have more information about the mystery woman in the photo.” Anton said as Eric took the picture from him.
Eric’s eyes scanned the soft face in the picture. 'She is beautiful creature.' Eric thought to himself.
“I was supposed to have a meeting scheduled with Evan for next month? Before his… death”
Eric said as his eyes fell on the red head in the picture. Eric swallowed hard; she was in a strange way very beautiful to him. Eric blew out an impatient gust of air. Regret started to stir inside of him, before he pushed it down quickly.
“It is a shame if we find anything on her.”
Anton raised his brow as he caught a hint of remorse in Eric’s voice.
“If you truly want to know the truth, this is the smartest way.” Anton said as he watched Eric’s stern expression.
Eric took a deep breath before he answered.
“Fine, I will call them, I will set up the meeting. The rest is up to you.”
Anton smiled, handing Eric his desk phone.
He grabbed the phone that sat behind his desk with a loud thud. “Mary, connect me to the Wincher Company now,”
