A Soothing Gaze

2322 Words
After doing something sweet to her sister, Devian looked at Chloe's two friends. The girl who was beside Devian also realized that she had not introduced one of her friends to her brother. Chloe immediately pulled Devian's hand to get closer to Kylie and Daisy. "Devian, introduce me. This is my friend, Kylie. Kylie Adams, the youngest daughter of the Adams family," said the girl while pointing at Kylie. Devian looked at Kylie and felt something unusual, the first time he looked at the youngest daughter of a family that was highly respected by everyone. Kylie graciously smiled and extended her hand towards Devian. The man standing in front of Kylie immediately welcomed the hand given by the girl in blue. "Kylie," said Drake's youngest daughter. "Devian," Chloe's brother replied and also threw a smile at Kylie. The two smiled together, showing their friendliness. Kylie was a little confused because Devian did not release his handshake. Kylie felt bad if she had to let go of their handshake. Her face was very calm, without the fierce look that Drake and his four brothers had. I didn't expect that she was really beautiful, even very beautiful if it was face to face like this, said Devian in his heart who continued to stare at Kylie's face, even the man did not blink at all. Chloe realized that and continued to pay attention to Devian's eyes that were directed at Kylie. The girl could guess that, Devian seemed to be interested in her friend. It's only natural considering Kylie does have a very beautiful and perfect face, there is not the slightest flaw that makes people less judgmental when looking at the face of Drake's favorite daughter. Meanwhile, Daisy looked confused to see the two opposite sexes shaking hands for a long time. She even looked at Kylie and Devian in turn and then turned towards Chloe. "With Daisy, you no longer need to get acquainted because you two already know each other," said Chloe, who deliberately said that so that Devian realized and could release his handshake to Kylie. The girl did not want the youngest daughter of Drake Adams to feel uncomfortable with what Devian was doing. Sure enough, the man was surprised and immediately removed his hand. To cover up his embarrassment, Devian looked at Daisy and said, "Hi, Dai. How are you?" Devian's heart was beating so fast, that he was afraid that Kylie or Chloe would realize that he had been staring into the eyes of the girl standing in front of him. Daisy smiled and answered Devian's question, "I'm fine, even better than before." Devian understood the words of his sister's friend. Since Kylie's presence, Daisy has been free from bullying by the girl's classmates and even now, Chloe is one of the friends of the son of a very influential person in their country. Kylie's presence is truly a breath of fresh air for all students on campus, at least Kylie can eradicate the crimes that occur on their campus. It turns out to be true as the information given by Chloe if, at this time, there are no more people who do as they please. Especially coupled with Jeykey who gave a firm warning to all students if they dared to violate the rules on campus. "That's good, I'm happy for you. You have to stay happy," Devian said to Daisy, whom he considered like his own sister because she was very close to Chloe, his sister who was a little difficult to make friends with. After all, Chloe was very picky. Her sister did not want to be friends with a woman who could only whine, let alone spoiled like Viola and other friends. Very considerate. Does he like Daisy? I was just about to set Daisy up with Jeykey. But right now, Daisy seems to like Jeykey, not Devian. The look she gives him is very different when she looks at Jeykey, Kylie said to herself. Now Devian turned his gaze back to Kylie. "So Miss Kylie, Mr. Drake Adams' only daughter?" asked Devian. Devian had seen Kylie's face in the photo given by Chloe, but he did not expect Kylie's face to be much more beautiful when seen in person like this. Really like a royal princess, even an angel who has extraordinary perfection. Kylie nodded with a smile that could not be separated from her face. "Just call me Kylie," the girl said. She sounded very humble, with no hint of arrogance even though she was the daughter of the ruler of their country. Devian also turned to Chloe, as if asking if he should call Kylie by name only, without embedding the word Miss which should be done by them. Chloe nodded because she knew that Kylie only wanted to be called by name if they were close friends, except for people who were not friends like her and Daisy. Devian looked back at Kylie. "Okay then. Kylie," Devian said. Kylie's smile grew wider and made Devian's heart continue to race much faster than before. Why do I feel different when I look at Kylie? I have never felt my heart beating like this with another woman. Am I in love with this girl? Oh, it's impossible and I don't want that to happen because that would be torturing me! Devian thought again. He wanted to clutch his chest, but there was no way he could do that in front of the three girls who kept staring at him. "Yes, that's it then. Carry on with your conversation! I want to clean myself up," Devian said. The man wanted to leave immediately because he couldn't bear to linger with Kylie, his heart might stop beating, and he ran out of breath because he was mesmerized by Kylie's beautiful and soothing look. All three of them nodded simultaneously. "Don't forget to rest immediately and take medicine so that you recover quickly," said Chloe who warned her brother not to indulge in the disease that was being felt because it would have a fatal impact on Devian's own health. "Yes," replied Devian. The man walked away from the three girls, while Kylie and Daisy continued their conversation. In the middle of his steps, Devian also glanced back at Kylie who was currently chatting with her two friends. Only then did Devian clutch his chest while continuing his path back to his room? "That's your second brother, right, Chloe?" asked Kylie. "Yes, and the first one is Dixon. Hopefully, he'll be back early, before you guys get back so we can meet in person." Chloe replied nodding her head then the girl turned to Daisy. "Haven't you met Dixon yet either?" Chloe asked the modest girl sitting next to Kylie. Daisy nodded. "Yes. Even though we've known each other for a long time, I've never even seen or met Dixon in person," Daisy replied. Kylie was surprised to hear the words of her two friends. "How come you've been friends for so long, but you've never seen Chloe's eldest brother?" Kylie asked with a confused look on her face. Chloe also explained to Kylie that Dixon was very busy and only drove Chloe to campus a few times. Chloe more often asked Devian for help to take her anywhere, when she needed a friend because she didn't want to disturb Dixon's busy schedule, especially during the man's break time. After all, Dixon had a big responsibility to their family. Dixon was also busy for no reason because he was taking care of the company that his parents had left behind. If Dixon relaxed, then their company would go out of business and that would also make life difficult for them. The youngest daughter of the Leon family still remembers very well, how hard Dixon struggled when restarting his father's company which almost went bankrupt because at that time they were very young when their parents left and did not understand the business world, while Devian was assigned by Dixon to continue to be beside Chloe, so as not to feel a lack of affection. "But, even like that Dixon also always makes time for me, even he always asks how I'm doing every day after work," Chloe said, ending her story about Dixon. Kylie nodded her head, she understood Dixon just like Arson. Being the eldest child did have a very heavy responsibility because of family expectations. If the eldest child has succeeded in making his parents proud, then the other children will follow in the footsteps of the eldest child. "It's hard to be them. Dixon is just like Arson, sometimes I feel sorry for him because he looks so exhausted, but what else can I do, they are destined to have strong backs. Because if not them, who else can carry on the legacy of our parents?" said Kylie, who sounded very wise and understood how time was scarce between the youngest and the eldest if they wanted to be close to their siblings. Daisy was silent because she was the eldest daughter of the family and Kylie was right. The responsibility of the eldest child is huge, she has to set an example for her brother who is still in high school, how to be him who is in the best college in their city with a scholarship as the smartest student. Kylie and Chloe turned to Daisy at the same time and raised their hands as if encouraging her. Both realized that Daisy was just like Arson and Dixon. Daisy laughed. She was so happy to have these two friends who cared so much about her, it was really good luck on her side. At the office, Dixon was worried after getting news from one of the servants at his house saying that they had one of the Adams family's daughters. Dixon was terrified that if Drake Adams found out and didn't accept it, his sister could become a victim of Drake's cruelty. "Why are you being careless like this, Chloe? Why didn't you also tell me you wanted to bring Kylie home? That way, I can ask Mr. Drake for permission first," Dixon said with great agitation. Dixon just remembered something, that earlier Devian asked him for permission to go home because he was not feeling well. The man immediately cursed himself. "Why was I so stupid? I should have called Devian earlier to ask about the situation there. CK, you're really stupid Dixon," he monologued as he reached for his flat object lying on the table beside his hand. The man immediately pressed Devian's button to ask how his two siblings were doing. Dixon's mind was already wandering, imagining the shots and blows that Drake's men would deliver to Chloe and Devian for having the audacity to bring Kylie into their meager home. One call, no answer from his second sister made Dixon even more worried. The man repeated the call to Devian and fortunately, the second son of the Leon family picked up Dixon's call. "Hello." "Where have you been? How are things there? Is it okay?" Dixon interrupted Devian's answer from the other side. Devian looked confused by Dixon's question. "What's wrong? I just finished showering," said the man so calmly. "I heard that Miss Kylie is staying at our house. Is that true? How are things there? Is everything okay? Did Mr. Drake not attack you?" Dixon scolded and made Devian immediately fold his face, but it was useless because Dixon couldn't see him. "You're overreacting! Everything is under control and there's no way Mr. Drake would attack our family, Kylie was just playing here and she's fine. How could anything happen to him, when his bodyguards almost fill half of our yard?" Devian replied. "Hey, Devian! Call her, madam. Do you want to die at the hands of Mr. Drake? I'm not ready to lose a family member just because of your carelessness!" said Dixon who was getting tensed up by the words of the man on the other side. Devian chuckled. "You're really overreacting, but at least I'm very grateful that you care and love us so much. Don't worry, Kylie herself asked me not to call her Miss. What can I do, other than obey rather than get a hole in my head from a shot from her firearm," Devian replied and the man laughed again. Dixon folded his face even more. "But it was at her request, not because you forced her, right?" asked Dixon again to further confirm his brother's words. "Yes, you have nothing to fear and worry about. How could I be insolent like that if I wasn't asked by him?" replied Devian again. "Yes, that's it then, but you must remain careful and take care of Chloe. Don't let her hurt Mr. Drake's daughter because it's very dangerous!" said Dixon again who began to calm down after getting an explanation from Devian who was on the spot, where Kylie was also there. "Yes. You too, don't get too tired! Remember. Stay healthy because we are not ready to lose one of our family members," said Devian who mimicked Dixon's previous words. Dixon chuckled in annoyance. "You are," said Dixon and made Devian laugh again. Their call ended, allowing Dixon to breathe a sigh of relief that everything was okay. He couldn't imagine if something happened to his two siblings, he might go crazy if he had to lose his family members because the only encouragement in his life right now was Chloe and Devian. A man smiled meaningfully after hearing the news from his men, that Kylie Adams was at the house of one of his friends at this time and that made the man very confident that all his plans would go very well because one by one the rats had fallen into his trap, it would make his steps easier to avenge the Adams family.
