I shut the door to his office carefully and walked a few steps away.
I couldn't keep my curiosity at bay. I wanted to know what he had to tell him. I wondered if it was related to the sensitive information he was working on earlier. Talking to him was nice.
It was also very obvious that he was still touchy about the whole Lyra situation. He was trying to play it off, but he wasn't fooling anyone, most especially me.
I let a few seconds pass to confirm that no maid could catch me eavesdropping.
