Chapter 5

Ariana’s POV. I stared out of the window in the room where this Alpha had left me. I hadn’t remember to ask for his name, and he still hadn’t told me the job he wanted to offer me. I already felt at peace here. Like I was welcomed. No one was treating me like I didn’t belong, unlike my old pack. He didn’t even mind that I was human. That I was weak and I might be the one to bring downfall to his pack. He was a caring man, but at the same time, I thought Micheal was a caring man until he cast me out and disgraced me in front of the whole pack. Until he rejected me. A tear slid down my cheeks and I quickly wiped it off with the back of my hand. I knew I wasn’t supposed to be crying, especially in the home of a pack which I didn’t know their ways. I knew crying was a sign of weakness in every pack and if anyone was to come in and find me crying, they might decide not to take pity on me and finally cast me out. I sighed, wiping the tears off my face. I kept staring out of the window even though I wasn’t really seeing anything. I kept wondering why Michael had treated me the way he did. Didn’t he say that he loved me? Didn’t he plead to me to not go that day? Didn’t he assure me that he’d never leave me? So why did he cast me out like that? I had even been dreaming about a future with the both of us. How happy we’d be together. f**k, I had even been thinking of baby names already. Only for him to do this to me. “Why are you crying?” A soft voice asked behind me. I jumped, started and I looked back. A yound lady was standing by the door, and she actually looked like the alpha who had rescued me. Was she his mother? But his mother isn’t supposed to look this young is she? “I—I’m not crying,” I lied. “But you are,” she answered. “I could already smell the stench of tears from the end of the hallway and I decided to check what was going on,” she said as she closed the door behind her, inviting herself in. “Did someone hurt you?” I wanted to tell her yes, that someone had hurt me but I couldn’t do that. She’ll find out that I have a pack and they’ll send me back to the pack. As I stared at her, the resemblance between her and their alpha become more glaring. What if she was his daughter? “No one hurt me,” I answered, forcing a smile. “I can smell your lies. I can also smell your heartbreak,” she said to me with a sigh as she walked to me. How was that possible? Smell my heartbreak? “You’re kidding, right?” I asked with a raised eyebrow, breathing steadily. She only shrugged, not confirming or denying the fact that I just called her a liar when I shouldn’t have done that. If she was indeed related to the Alpha, which it was obvious that she was, she could have me punished. I ran my fingers through my hair as she sat on the window sill next to me. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that,” I apologize quickly before she could get angry and decide to snap my neck. “Oh please,” she answered, rolling her eyes and chuckling a bit. “Anyways, is it a boy?” She asked with a raised eyebrow and an interested look. “A boy? I don’t understand,” I answered slowly. “Is it a boy that hurt you? I can tell you’re heart broken,” she answered. “Oh, no it’s not a boy,” I lied, shaking my head lightly. “I’m just tired.” That wasn’t entirely a lie. I was tired. Of everything. “I know you won’t tell.ms what really happened,” she answered. “Because we’re not really acquainted but we can start our friendship now. I’m Lana, Lucas’s sister.” “Who is Lucas?” I asked, getting even more confused. “The guy who rescued you,” she answered. “Don’t you know his name?” “Oh, the Alpha? His name is Lucas?” I asked and then realized I had just called his name without respect. “I’m sorry. I meant Alpha Lucas.” So she was his sister, not his mother or his daughter as I had thought. “Jeez, you need to stop with all these formalities you have. Is that how they do in your last pack? You don’t have to be scared, we don’t do all that s**t here. Not until it’s very necessary. Okay?” She assured me. “Oh alright,” I answered, nodding my head a bit. “it’s really nice to meet you, Lana. I’m Ariana.” It was really nice to meet her. I haven’t had a female friend all my life and she seemed like she could be the female friend I never knew I needed. “I know that already. Lucas has told me,” she said and then smiled at me. “You’re really pretty, you know?” She told me and heat crept up my cheeks. She touched my hair and giggled. “Your hair is so soft. What do you use on it?” “Nothing,” I answered, toching my hair subconsciously. “Really? Or you just don’t want me to know what you’re using?” She asked with a raised eyebrow. “I really don’t use anything,” I answered and bit my lip. “And your hair is nice too.” Her soft curls were packed up in a ponytail with a few strands escaping the rubber that held the hair together. She grinned at me. “Thank you.” I grinned back at her. “We’re going to be good friends. I can already tell,” she said and touched my cheeks. “How long are you staying?” That question wiped the smile off my face. I didn’t know how long I was staying and I didn’t even have any place to stay. “I…uh…I don’t know yet.” “Well-“ he began but she was cut off when the door opened and we turned our heads to look. Alpha Lucas was standing by the door.
