Chapter 20

2595 Words
ARIANA’S POV
I couldn’t get my mind off what the lady had said, the other time. I didn’t fully understand what was going on as it seemed like a mystery. Truly, I wasn’t built for the political world, but what exactly was the reason Drake Phillips, bought me, especially for $50 million.
All through the night, different thoughts kept popping up in my head, and I didn’t know when I slept off.
The next day, I had my bath, and dressed up. I curled on my bed, dreading to see Drake Phillips, up close. Then a knock came on the door. Fear rose in my heart, and my heart skipped a beat in anxiousness of who could be at the door.
“The door is open.” I managed to speak.
“It’s me, again. You are called for breakfast. By the way, the boss is also at the dining table.” Layla informed.
My heart began to race, and sweats broke out from my palms, indicating how cold my fingertips, were.
“Uhm… it’s…it’s not possible you to tell a lie for my sake? Th..that I’m sick, or something?” I asked, with fear.
“I’m sorry. But the boss doesn’t care about that. He wants to see you, regardless. And it is a risk on my part, to tell a lie to him.” She said, looking at me, pitifully.
There was no way I could avoid Drake Phillips, now. The only thing I could do, was to muster up the courage to join him for breakfast. I followed Layla, and when I got to the table, I noticed that Drake Phillip was strikingly handsome, but he looked cold, and stern. His cold gaze gave me the shivers, and I found it hard to stop my legs from wobbling.
“G…good morning.” I greeted in fear, but he didn’t respond.
“M…may…may I sit?” I asked.
He didn’t respond still, but Layla gestured for me to sit immediately. Then I noticed the food that was served, was Lobster and chives scrambled eggs. Drake Phillips really had a weird taste, to me.
“Eat up.” He said, and his voice, echoed.
“Uhm… I really do not like lobster.” I said, politely.
But the words had dropped out of my mouth, before I recalled that Layla had told me never to waste food.
“Uhm… I mean…”
Before I could complete my sentence, he stood up and pinned my neck to a wall, nearby.
“Do not get on my nerves, Ariana.” He said, with a glare
Looking into his eyes, was like looking into the eyes of death, itself. I was almost choking when he released his hold on my neck, and left. I fell to the ground, wheezing, and curled up in fear.
Layla signaled for me to leave immediately, and I tried my best to get on my feet, and ran back to my room. I began to sob, hard. I didn’t think I could survive with the level of his coldness.
“Why did I always have to go through unfair things?” I sobbed, looking up at the ceiling.
Days passed, and every breakfast, and dinner with Drake Phillips, was a nightmare. This was just unbearable.
“I can’t take this, anymore.” I said to myself as I got ready to escape.
That night, I waited until everywhere was dead silent. Although, the mansion was most times, quiet, but I had to be certain that even Drake Phillips wasn’t awake. I managed to sneak out to the compound, and ran towards the gate.
My heart was beating fast in fear that I would be caught, but there was no going back, I was so close to escaping. I managed to climb the gates, which wasn’t that tall, but I fell to the other side, and bruised my knee.
“It’s all worth it, it’s all worth it ” I said to myself as I limped towards the main road.
I walked as far as possible, to be away from them, never to be found. While walking, I got to a cafe, and there was a board indicating they needed someone to work for them, so I sat by the door, waiting for morning when the owner would open up his or her restaurant.
I didn’t know that I had slept off until I was woken up by a man.
“Why are you at my door?” He asked, with his right eyebrow, raised.
“I’m…I’m sorry sir. I would like to be hired. And I don’t have a place to go to.” I replied.
“Wait a minute. Aren’t you the lady who was bought by Drake Phillips?” He asked, squinting his eyes at me.
“Y…yes. Please do not let him know I’m here. I can’t bear, living with him.” I pleaded, rubbing my palms, together.
“But he bought you for $50 million. Don’t you fear his wrath if he gets a hold of you, again?”
“That’s why I’m trying my best not to be caught.” I pleaded.
Then I sighted Michael, his right-hand man, walking towards us.
“I’m sorry, I would be in great trouble if I kept this from Drake Phillips.” He said, shaking his head, lightly, then walked into his cafe.
“Please don’t hurt me.” I pleaded to Michael.
Michael picked me up, rashly by my collar, looking angry.
“I told you not to do anything to get on the boss’ nerves. Now, you have no choice than to face what you are trying to escape from.” He threatened, and dragged me away.
“Please don’t hurt me.” I pleaded, desperately, but there was no response.

I was taken to the sitting room, and when Drake Phillips set his eyes on me, he walked towards me, and hit me with a document file in his hand. My hair slept on my face as my head moved in rhythm to the hard slap he gave me.
Tears rolled down my cheeks and my heart was beating fast, in fear of what next he was going to do to me.
“Take her to the dungeon!” He ordered.
My eyes looked left and right, in shock. Dungeon? I wasn’t a fan of places like that. I screamed in tears as they dragged me away.
“Let me go! Please let me go!”
I was thrown into the dungeon, behind bars, and the darkness that surrounded me, came with a chilly atmosphere. I wrapped my arms around my shoulders, shivering and scared of what was going to behold of me.
~
It was a particular morning, and Drake Phillips, came down to the dungeon, and stared at me, coldly.
“I can see how fragile you are. You already look a mess, within three days of being here, with little food and water. Well, that’s just a tip of the iceberg. When next you try to escape or do something grave, it’s not certain that you will survive the consequence.” He threatened.
I gasped in fear as he traced his hand from my eyes, down to my neck. They had brought me out from the bars, and I felt even the bars were much better than having to face Drake Phillips.
“She still looks perfect for it.” He said to Michael.
“Alright, boss.”
Then he looked back at me.
“Now, listen. You will be undergoing a bit of training as I will use you as a bait, against other men of our caliber. And your first mission to take up, is Tony Deaton, the CEO of TonsTech.”
What the lady down the basement had said, was true. The war between these men was a rough game, and I was certainly going to be trampled on, while they are at it. Drake Phillips, making me a bait showed that my death was near.
“Michael, prepare her for today’s training.” He instructed, and walked out of the dungeon.
Now, I understood the reason he bought me for $50 million. He had seen my innocence as an advantage to his plan.
“Follow me.” Michael said.
We got to a large pool, and then I noticed that there was another large pool.
“There could be a time when you could be in a problem, probably things got too rough, learning how to stay underwater, would be helpful as you could come across a situation that needs you to stay calm, underwater.” He explained to me.
My eyes widened in fear. Was he going to tell me to stay in this pool for a few minutes?
“If you can’t stay in this pool for up to three minutes, you will be bound inside the cold pool for three minutes, and try not to go unconscious, because your punishment would be unbearable.” Michael added.
This was doom! I certainly could not last that long in water. This isn’t training, but torture.
~
“Please give me one more chance! I’m going to try my best this time!” I pleaded in screams as they dragged me to the cold pool to be bound underwater for three minutes.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was on my bed, with Layla, checking my temperature.
“Welcome back.”
“D…did I perhaps fall unconscious?” I asked.
“Yes, you did.”
Then the door opened, and Michael came in.
“Time to experience the real hell.” He said.
~
For days, training went on and on. If my opinion was considered, I’ll call it torture, not training. Most of the trainings, they tried to make me undergo, I failed most of them, and I could tell that Drake Phillip’s patience was running thin.
In fact, I had taken my mind off the fact that Luke would be able to save me, and just had to face my fate, here.
The only thing I managed to understand and learn was how to use the high techs, and devices I was going to use, while conversing and getting closer to Tony Deaton. Even as my target was supposed to be the most hated on my list, Drake Phillips managed to top that list. I hated him with everything I had.
One night, I was on my bed, and then I heard the door creak. Fear gripped me as I noticed it was Drake Phillips. Immediately, I stood up from the bed, taking steps backwards, until my body touched the wall.
He walked towards me, and when he got to me, he sniffed my neck, and placed his left hand on my waist. And then he bit my ear lobe, a bit, which went shivers down my spine.
“If you fail this mission, I will consider you to be nothing more than a s*x slave. And then, when you no longer have a use for me, you will end up dead.” He whispered to me, and I could feel him smirk.
~
The next day, I felt depressed, and worried over what Drake Phillips had said to me. There was no hope that I would be able to do well in this mission, and it was my dream to give my body to my future husband, not some political man.
My thoughts drifted to my adoptive mother, and I felt myself, boiling in anger. If she had not bothered adopting me, probably I wouldn’t have to live to go through this.
I decided to go out to get my mind off a lot of things, so I dressed up, and sneaked out of the mansion, since Drake Phillips and Michael weren’t around.
I didn’t have any cash with me, so I asked for directions, out of the estate, until I got to a familiar place. It was sunny outside, and my throat burned in thirst. Still, I managed to continue walking.
I couldn’t possibly run from here, because they would still find me, so I had pure intentions while leaving.
In about an hour after I hit the main road, I got to a place which had so much resemblance with my previous home. Memories swam through my mind, and I could picture the little me, brought here.
I also remembered a particular annoying day which her nephew almost did something really annoying, and traumatic to me.
~flashback~
“Ariana?” I heard a familiar voice, call my name.
I looked back and discovered it was Leo, my cousin. I batted my eyes in nervousness as I could remember the way they had mistreated me, when I was still living with them, and I dared not raise my voice at them.
I had stayed with them, sometimes, apart from staying with my adoptive parents.
Leo chuckled, staring lustfully at me.
“What a pleasant surprise, to see you here.” He smiled, rubbing his chin, with both his index finger and thumb.
“Where is aunt?” I asked, managing to keep a straight face.
“What the hell are you doing here?” She asked, in anger.
I scoffed in annoyance.
“Don’t you feel bad that you made my life worse? You had to tell everyone I was human, when they didn’t know, and how did it help you?” I asked, in restrained anger as I bit my lips.
Tears ran down my chin, without permission, and I clenched my fists.
“Look, I do not care however we made your life, worse. You are the one who is unlucky, and your unlucky fate, brought death upon your parents. Now, your presence here, can cause a lot of trouble for us, so leave.” She shouted.
“What do you mean?”
“Leave, Ariana! As time goes on, you will understand exactly what is going on. Leo, chase her away, before the darkness befalls us.” My aunt instructed, then went back into the house.
I wanted to move closer to the house, and hit the door as hard as I could, multiple times until she came out, but Leo stopped me. He had actually not cared about me, too, and even slapped me, and called me names.
~back to reality~
“Hey beautiful.” I heard someone speak, and when I turned to look, I noticed he had a mischievous look, on.
Before I knew it, he held me down, and I tried so much to withdraw myself from him, but he was too strong. He pushed me to the ground, and laid on me, holding his hand to my mouth, making my screams, sound muffled. He was unzipping his pants, and was ready to remove his boxers.
I kept trying to release myself from his grip, but I was just too weak. Suddenly, I heard him groan, and he rolled off me. A few men, dressed in black surrounded us. At first, I thought it was Drake Phillip’s men, but I was wrong.
It was Tony Deaton and his men.
“Take her away.” He instructed, sternly.
I tried to stand, and run as fast as I could, but they had gotten to me, and then put a gag in my mouth, then covered my head, in a black sack. Where were they taking me to? No one knew my whereabouts. I had fallen into the hands of the enemy, even before I started my mission.
