Chapter 8

ARIANA’S POV
It was a new day, and I was all set for work, too. On getting to the living room, Luke and I headed out to work in his car. Although, I was kind of skeptical if my day would go nice, because it wasn’t every day Luke would take me to a restaurant, for dinner.
“In our company, we have a brand launch, in a few days. We’ll be competing with other big companies”
“You sound confident. Those companies are big. Doesn’t it mean they would be really skilled?” I asked, wondering why he wasn’t sounding bothered at all.
“Well, we have an ace player, though. She’s very good in this field of fashion designing, so, with her, I’m certain we are going to win. She is sought after by so many companies, but we were the lucky one to have her.”
“Oh, I see. What’s her name?”
“Theresa. You’ll meet her, soon.” Luke assured me, with a smile.
But I wasn’t so sure of that. She might also have a dissatisfied look on her face, just like the others. So, I guess I’m just going to have a neutral mind, regarding this.
When we got to the company, we walked in, and headed to the office immediately.
“Yeah, I’ll need coffee, Ariana. Please kindly get it for me.”
“Alright, on it.”
I walked out of the office, and went over to the coffee making machine, and somehow, I found it difficult to operate it.
“Oh, gosh. How do I do this?” I muttered under my breath, feeling a bit anxious.
Then I heard the tap of heals, heading towards this direction, and I got so happy. I hope the person coming, would help me out, though.
As she came in sight, I walked up to her, because she seemed to be heading to an office, close to the CEO’s office.
“Hi. Hey. I’m sorry. I’m finding it difficult to get a hold of this. Can… can you help me out?” I requested, hoping she was going to willingly do that.
“You mean you don’t know how to operate it?” She questioned, with a sneer on her face.
“Uhm… Yes.”
“I wonder why the CEO decided to take you in as his secretary, and personal assistant, when you obviously do not worth it. Did you seduce him or something?” She asked, looking at me, with a glare.
I took a few steps backwards, and when I did, I gasped.
“Look. No one likes you here. Everyone keeps wondering why a human like you would get to be so close with the CEO. So, if you can’t work in a place where no one would be willing to help you, then leave.” She spoke harshly, and walked out on me.
Tears filled my eyes, and threatened to fall. I sniffled, and tried my best to ensure my eyes dried up before going back in to tell Luke that I couldn’t get it to work.
“Hey. You shouldn’t mind what people say to you, okay? I feel you’re in the right place, and you should stay strong.” An unfamiliar lady said to me, with a smile.
Then she placed her hand on the coffee making machine, and worked it out.
“Wow. Thanks so much.” I appreciated her, with a smile.
She was literally the only one who was nice to me, in the building, and it felt nice. At least, to have someone who cared enough to tell me to ignore the bad comment I got.
“You’re welcome. I’m Theresa.” She introduced herself, and my eyes widened, out of surprise.
“Oh, my gosh. You’re Theresa? The ace player in this particular field?”
She chuckled, also looking surprised.
“Well, I wouldn’t want to sound proud, but yes I am. I guess the CEO has told you about me.”
“Yeah, he has.” I said, with an excited smile.
“That’s cool. Alright, let’s head back into his office. I came to see him, too.” She uttered, and then we both walked into the office.
“Good morning, sir.”
“Morning, Theresa.” He responded, and then gestured for her to have her seat, then I placed the coffee on the table for him. “Thanks, Ariana.”
“She is a nice fit for the position of a secretary.” Theresa mentioned, and I blushed a little.
“Oh! I see you’ve had a little conversation with her, already.”
“Yes, I have.” She responded, then turned to me. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep our little secret.” She whispered, and I smiled.
“Alright then. I’ll take my leave.” I spoke, and left the office for them to have their conversation.
My office was just next to his, and although, I couldn’t hear what they were talking about, but I felt happy that Theresa might just be a good friend to me.
I opened a few documents, and went through some of them the way Luke had taught me to do it, and it was so much fun. In fact, I was in a good and happy mood while going through them.
Today indeed seemed to be a very good one, and would definitely end, really good.

It was evening already, and I rose to my feet, then yawned. Today was a bit more stressful than yesterday, and at that moment, all I needed was a good rest.
“You seem tired. You should have a good rest when you get home, because the days to come would be more stressful, due to our upcoming event, in almost two weeks.” She informed me, and smiled.
“Thank you.” I appreciated her, with a smile. “Uhm… Mind if we exchange contacts?”
“Yeah, sure.” She agreed, and then called out her digits.
I did the same as I wanted her to save it up immediately. It was so exciting, because it meant that I found a friend.
“Bye. I got to run.” She said, with a smile, and she stepped out of the office.
I smiled and then Lucas stepped in, not long after she left.
“Alright, let’s head home.” He urged, and I picked up my bag, and followed after him.
While we were in the car, and buckled our seat belts, he started the car.
“You should hold on to people like Theresa. She might turn out to be a good friend.” He advised me, and I leaned on the chair, imagining what it would be like, to be friends with her.
