Chapter 3

ARIANA’S POV My eyelids fluttered open, and to my surprise, I met myself in a strange place. This wasn’t my room, back at the pack, neither did it smell anything like my pack surroundings as well. My eyeballs moved to the left, and what I saw was a bedside table, and a lamp, then to my right, I looked at the wall. It was gray in color, which gave me a dull vibe. Then I tried to sit up, but I felt a sharp pain and a loud piercing sound. “Ouch!” I winced in pain, and then I heard the sound of footsteps walking towards me. I became alert, and almost went frozen, scared that it was an enemy who brought me here. I also closed my eyes tight, fearing that he would do something against me. “Open your eyes. It’s okay, you’re safe.” I heard a bold, yet charming voice, speak to me. Slowly, I opened my eyes, and I saw a tall and incredible figure, towering over me. His eyes were also piercing blue, but much more beautiful than all blue eyes I had ever seen, in my life. His eyes showed concern, and everything about him, made me have a positive feeling. “Where am i?” I asked, out of curiosity. “You are in my home. What’s your name?” He questioned, staring deep into my eyes. “I’m… I’m Ariana.” I responded calmly. “Hmm. Ariana. Ariana, where were you coming from, tonight? Where do you stay?” He questioned again, without an expression on his face. Although, he seemed really straight, and strict, yet, I felt so comfortable with him. His presence gave me an unexplainable comfort that I wished to feel, longer than I can ever imagine. But then, this would be cut short if I told him I was coming from a pack. Even if I explained to him that I was mistreated, he might still send me back to my pack, because he literally had no right, or any valid reason to keep me. So, I had to think of something else that would make him not to send me back from where I was coming from. “I… I have no place of my own. I have been roaming around, and sleeping wherever I can sleep.” “Hmmm. So, what was the reason you were running so fast that you didn’t wait to observe any car, passing by?” He asked, out of curiosity. “I…. I was chased by a group of men who wanted to take advantage of me. I couldn’t even tell the difference between the woods and the highway anymore. My mind was just on those who were chasing after me.” I said, with a shaky voice. “What! They wanted to take advantage of you!” He suddenly raised his voice, showing signs that he was boiling in anger. I could literally see his eyes, looking fire-filled, and if it were possible, he would shoot lasers from those eyes. “Yes.” I responded softly. “Do you remember their faces or what they look like?” He asked, looking ready to pounce on them or whatever. If truly some men had tried to take advantage of me, and I remembered their faces, he would have done his worst, to them. “No… It was too dark, and I barely had the boldness and time to look at their faces.” I responded, and he let out a deep sigh that seemed like he was thinking. “If ever you have a hunch that someone or anyone you see was one of those men who tried to take advantage of you, let me know.” He said to me, looking really angry. I nodded my head, and then he moved closer to me as he reached out his hands to me. “Let me help you sit up.” He offered, and then I allowed him. “Thank you for helping me.” I appreciated him, from the bottom of my heart. “You’re welcome. Also, you don’t have to worry. You can stay in my home, if you wish. I promise to take very good care of you.” He assured me, and I couldn’t help but stare at him in awe. How is it so possible that someone like him would see a stranger like me, but still be so willing to help me. I was so tempted to ask him why he was so much interested to help me. Or did he not know I’m a human? There’s no way he wouldn’t know, though. “I…I really am finding it difficult to understand why you’re so willing to help me when you have never met me before. Or have you?” “No. I haven’t.” he responded. “I just have this desire to help you as much as I can. And you don’t have to worry, I’m not planning to hurt you or to take advantage of you.” He assured me again, and I felt so happy and touched. “I don’t know how else to thank you. But… I feel I should tell you this.” I needed to tell him I was human, so I don’t get disappointed when he finds out, especially if he hadn’t found out, yet. At least, if he was going to lose interest or anything, it would be much better for him to do that, now, than when I’ve become lost in his world, thinking he was going to keep helping me. “What’s that?” He asked, looking concerned. “I’m… I’m a human, a weakling and would only be a stain to you. If you won’t be able to bear with that, I would understand.” I said to him, and breathed out deeply, hoping he wouldn’t send me out, even in my condition. “I know of that, and what makes you think you are going to be a stain to me?” “I…I just feel that way.” “Well, you don’t need to feel that way. In this city, we werewolves, co-exist with humans, and it’s not a new thing. Don’t ever feel that way, anymore. Also, if you don’t mind, I have a job offer for you.” With these words, my heart felt excitement. A change was definitely on the horizon.
