(Theresa's Pov) "I'm Theresa," I introduced myself to Marie and she nodded her head in affirmation. She was kind. I could tell the moment she explained to me how she was coming back from a journey and found me lying helplessly naked in the middle of the woods. She helped me to her house without knowing who I was. She was rare. "Thank you," I appreciated it for the hundredth time cause why not? If she hadn't found me, the Lycan King or anyone from Shadow pack. Marie waved her hands over my face, "You don't have to thank me, instead tell me how you fell from a cliff and didn't die," she requested and I almost chuckled if she hadn't touched my injury, making me yelp in pain. "I didn't want… arrgh… careful, Marie!" I yelled when she poured a methylated spirit on my wound. "Shhhh… you should have been careful yourself," she uttered and continued to pour the content while I groaned in pain. My wounds have refused to heal since I made a great fall from the cliff and my wolf had been so weak to heal. Marie gently placed my leg back on the bed and took my hands. This time, I tried to hold the tears that wanted to drop from my ears. It was so painful. Soon, she was done dressing up my wound and I mumbled a thank you again and all she did was scoff, "That's not what I want from_" "I was careless," I cut in and she threw me a stern look before she resumed what she was doing. "I was on the run from my pack when I fell from the cliff. It was a mistake, I mean, I had no idea there was a cliff," I said with a shrug and she nodded her head in agreement. "So why were you running away from your pack?" She inquired. "I thought you don't believe we exist," I told her and she raised her head again. "I knew werewolves before you were born," she taunted with so much pride in her voice that it gave me an idea that she must have stayed with them. "So why did you behave that way earlier when I told you I am a werewolf?" I asked, wanting to know more. A smile crept on her lips and she answered, "We don't have werewolves only, you know?" "Yeah, yeah…" "What's the name of your pack and why did you make an escape?" I shut my eyes close remembering how my pack looks then I flung them open to see Marie staring largely at me. I shook my head. "I can't talk about it." "Forever?" "Forever," I told her. I was not ready to trust anyone and Marie wasn't an exception especially when she knew about us which was quite obvious that she knew a lot. After a short silence, she let out. "It's fine if you don't want to talk about it. Just know that you are welcome to stay as long as you want," she said and my eyes shone out in surprise. "I can't stay!" I snapped, not knowing why I did but I just did, remembering I was pregnant and can't make her uncomfortable in her home. "Why not?" I knew she was going to ask and I was ready to tell her my reasons. I looked down at my stomach and used my hands to make soft caresses on it. "I'm three weeks pregnant." "Oh, wow!" She mouthed. "So you can see. I can't stay." "I never complained," she shuddered and I arched my eyebrows at her. "You don't care if I stay here and have my kid? Won't it be inconvenient for you whereas, I have nothing to offer," I told her, truthfully but I just couldn't read her countenance. They were normal. I watched her stand up from where she sat and walked over to the dressing table then dropped the medications on it. "Do you have anywhere to go to? Any relatives?" And that was where I couldn't get an answer to give her. I was all alone. "Since you are here, all you have to do is stay low and live with me. I will find a way to put you through," Marie assured and all I did was kept quiet. I couldn't argue with her since I have no where else to go to. **** "You never told me I was in a pack," I said to Marie as soon as she told me I was going to work as a maid in the pack house. Marie smiled at me, "Welcome to Lycan Blood Pack. I told you I knew about werewolves before you were born," she taunted and it was then it dawn on me what she meant by her statement. I looked at the maid dress in her hands and I discovered it was almost the same dress I always put on at my pack. I was back to where I originally belonged to. She stretched the dress to me, "Put them on, you'll be coming with me to the pack house," she stated and suddenly I remembered something. "The Lycan King!" I snarled. "I can't be in this pack. The Lycan King mustn't find me!" Marie countenance changed with a frown before she let out, "Don't ever address the King that way and why would the Lycan King look for you!" Marie corrected while I tried hard not to believe that I was back at the Lycan's hands. To make her believe all that I was saying, I used my hand and pulled the collar of my dress to show her the mark of my claim, "See? The Lycan King claimed me." Marie didn't wait a second before she burst out laughing at my words. When she finally stopped laughing, she made a face, "Are you sure you're talking about the Lycan King of this pack? Why would the King claim you? You of all people?" She requested and added. "Stop it, Tessy. The Lycan King would never so such. I mean, this pack King is too picky to choose you as his mate when eventually his mistress is nothing compared to you," Marie stated and I let out a heavy breath. "He has a mistress?" I questioned and Marie stretched out the dress for me to take which I did after a little hesistation. "Dress up and follow me. Mind you, lying is not accepted. I can't believe a Lycan claim you. Make sure no one else hear of this," she said and walked out of the door. I shrugged, "Surely, a Lycan King wouldn't claim me if he has his mistress already," I thought to myself before putting on the maid dress.
