Chapter 11

1811 Words
I hadn't even taken a step before my father and mother were beside me once more. My mother placed her hand on my shoulder and gave me a feeble smile. I knew what was next. She was gonna give me the talk that ends with her having gone through this situation before which makes her know more. "Renesmee you need to understand what you are doing to him." "Mom, please just stop I don't want to talk about this anymore." "Alright but let me just tell you a word of wisdom." "Mom...." "Put yourself in his shoes and imagine him doing to you what you are doing to him. How would you feel." "Mom." "Renesmee, answer my question." I crossed my arms. "Mom, please just leave it alone. Leave this alone." I turned to head up to the house but froze as Jake was heading towards me. "Renesmee, Jake no longer see's you as a child so unless you want him to continue his affectionate advances on you I would suggest you do the right thing and tell the poor boy you don't love him." my father said. Jake was just feet away. "Shush." I hissed low enough that only my parents could hear it. I quickly put a fake smile on just in time for Jake to get to my side. "Hi Jacob" My voice sounded overenthusiastic. "Ness." He grinned before placing his arm over my shoulder. I had to use all my self control to not shrug away from his touch. When I looked at my mother I saw her shake her head. She was never gonna let me live this down. "I was thinking that tomorrow you both can move in and get situated before the semester starts." My father said. I glared at him. He just told me back at the house that I could stay with them as long as I wanted to. Now he is talking about me moving out. "Dad." I groaned. "Not now." "Renesmee I think it's the best option for you. Plus Jake can help you get your license." I knew what my father was trying to do. He was trying to shove me and Jacob together so I would eventually be forced to deal with the situation of me not loving him. He was trying to blind side me. "Yeah, I can definitely help you get your license. I'm sure in just a couple days you'll be outdriving me." Jake grinned. I sighed. There was no way around this. "You know what, why don't I just leave tonight if that's what you want." I snapped. "Renesmee I just want you to get settled into your adult life." My father replied. "You are a big fat liar!" I shouted. I jabbed my index finger hastily at my temple. "I can read minds, I can tell if you are lying or not." I growled. "Then by all means Renesmee look into my mind." I glared at him all the while I was using my gift to penetrate his mind. There it was the truth. My father wasn't lying. He really did want me to get settled into my adult life. He wanted me to be able to begin living like an adult and dealing with problems the way adults would. This is why he wanted me gone. He wanted me to solve my delimma with Jake which is what an adult would do. As I exited his mind my face softened entirely. "Uh what part of the argument did I miss?" Jake asked nervously. My father gave Jake a tightlipped grin and patted him on the shoulder as he walked past him and headed towards the house. "Ness you okay?" Jake said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into an embrace. I quickly wriggled out of his arms. "I need to go to the restroom." I said quickly before I turned and ran as quickly as I could back into the house. I cleared the stairs in under twenty seconds and shut my door behind me. Months ago that type of hug wouldn't have bothered me but now it was clear that Jake was trying to persue me in romantic ways and I didn't want that. Maybe my parents were right. Moving as soon as possible would force me to admit my lack of romantic feelings for Jake which would fix the problem. Heading to my closet I pulled out the largest suitcase which was a oversized traveling trunk. I scrambled hurridly through my room and began piling with all the things that meant the most to me. The latter were pictures of me and my parents, photo albums and the music my father made for me. Once I had finished filling my trunk I closed it and sat my day bag ontop of it before I took a seat on the floor. I closed my eyes and went back to the beginning. The beginning of my memories. The beginning of my life. The first time I ever seen my mother after her escape from death. Being cradled by my father, Rosalie and Jake back when things were simple. Running through the forest catching snow flakes, visiting Charlie. Running through the house and into the arms of my father. My mother reading me bedtime stories. My father teaching me the lullaby he made for me. Those memories, those simple memories were treasures of a perfect time. Though we were bracing ourselves for the visit from the Volturi it was perfect. All of my family was together, Jake was nothing more than a friend and a protector, I was just a child with no worries about adulthood, love, or life without my parents taking care of me. I let slip a bell-like laugh. "What's so funny?" I heard Jakes voice call to me. I felt my heart jump as my eyes snapped open. "Nothing. I was just thinking about how much I wanted to be an adult and how now I want nothing more than to be a carefree child again." Jake crossed the room and I rose to my feet as the image of him sitting beside me and putting his arms around me flitted through my mind. "We are leaving to go to the new house tonight so I suggest you pack anything you want to take with you." I said trying to get him to leave. He gave me a smirk. "I pack about three hours ago. Alice told me we'd be leaving very soon." "Okay. Well er... You should go and eat because there is no food at the new house yet." Jake rolled his eyes. "If I didn't know any better I'd think you were trying to get rid of me." He was now just three feet from me and closing in. I was out of distractions. Suddenly I got an idea. I closed my eyes and sighed before letting myself collapse into a crumpled heap on the floor. Now all I had to do was not move. I could do this. "Renesmee!" Jake shouted as I heard him drop to his knees beside me. In the next second his ear was on my chest and then I was being lifted into his arms. This didn't exactly work the way I had hoped it would. I was thinking he'd run off and get my parents to tend to me but it backfired. "Edward!" He called. "Bella! Edward! Help!" Jake shouted. "She just collapsed and I tried to find a heart beat but I couldn't." his voice was nothing but panic. "What's wrong with Renesmee!" My mother screamed. I was being shuffled into another pair of arms. From the grip and the scent I knew they were my fathers. "Bella relax." My father said. In the next ten seconds I felt myself being laid down on something soft and then another pair of hands were on me. "Did she hit her head?" It was Carlisle's voice. "No. She was just standing and then she just fell. Doc' what's wrong with her?" I felt hands along my head and neck poking and prodding gently. Then a cold metal piece was on my chest where my heart should be. "Well her heart is beating so she is definitely alive. It's beating quicker then normal so maybe something frightened her." "That's not likely." "Can you tell me what she was doing before hand?" Carlisle asked. I heard Jake sigh impatiently. "I walked into her room and she was sitting on the floor with her eyes closed. I heard her laugh so I asked her what was funny and she told me she thought it was amusing how much she wanted to grow up when now she wants nothing more then to be a kid again." "Anything else?" My mother asked. Jake scoffed. "She told me that I should pack because we are leaving tonight and I told her I was finished." "Is that all?" My mother pressed. "No. She told me to go and eat because there was no food at the new house yet and I told her I was fine. About a minute after that she collapsed." "It's probably just her nerves. Normally a human has eighteen to twenty years to prepare for leaving the nest. She on the other hand only had ten months. She will be fine, all she needs is rest." Carlisle said. "So I guess we aren't leaving tonight then right?" Jacob asked. "Actually moving tonight seems to be the logical thing to do. If this fainting was brought on by the stress of leaving maybe we can shock it out of her by having her face the stress point." "So you are basically telling us to take our daughter and her things to her house and tuck her into bed and come home?" My mother asked. "Well, yes." "And if it doesn't work?" My father asked. "Worst case scenario she'll show up at the door step wanting the comfort of her parents." he said simply. Great. Now my parents were planning to take me to my house and leave me. I couldn't let myself get mad because I did ask for this. This was the original plan. The sooner this happened the sooner the Jake problem would be fixed and I would be able to let go of the guilt I had from not telling him the truth. "Jake, go and take your Renesmee's things to the boat. Bella and I are going to meet you there in ten minutes." My father said. Jakes scent disappeared and so did Carlisle's. It was just my mother father and myself now. "So we are doing this?" I heard my mother say. "We don't really have a choice now do we? She needs this."
