Cassie She hurriedly opened her mobile data to access the internet. The wifi in the café was too slow for her liking. It was as if her hair would turn white first before he could open her email. “So, Cassie is it a deal or no deal?” he gestured like that of Krissy the host of the show Deal or no Deal. The company’s project rests on this contract so he was desperate already. It was written all over his face. Cassie could not help but be coy about her decision. She was having fun playing with his emotions at the moment. He was like an open book that you could literally read his thoughts coming out of his mind. She then smirked at the thought of letting him think she was second-guessing. Yes, she had a few days left but that can be arranged as long as she had some fun. She checked her phone no new mail yet. She was getting frustrated. Her home had the fastest speed of wi-fi while here she was at the mercy of her phone plan's speed. "Pedro, can't you see? I am still waiting for the contract. Do you want to go? By all means, go ahead. Say goodbye to this deal as well." Cassie responded to him with a bratinella attitude. She was used to doing things her way and taking her time. "Very well then, I won't bother you about the contract. Although, RnJ is hosting an Adonis Gala tonight. It is a charity event where newly hired husbandos are auctioned. Would you be my date?" He tried once again to use his seduction skills on her. He even stared at her eyes full of lust. His gesture was screaming to take him home. Cassie found it funny the way he was staring at her. She was dumbfounded by his desperation. Although it made her curious as well. She wanted to agree already as she felt sorry for him. Until her agent cut interjected with a phone call. Pedro laid back on his chair with a beaten look. "Yes, Mr. Pat Yu?" Cassie casually said over the phone. She smiled and twirled her hair as they spoke over the phone. She was warming up to him already. She loved the way his voice sounded on the phone and how he was speaking her name. It was intoxicating, to say the least. "I will be going. Yes, no worries just send me a message once the contract has been revised. Thank you and see you." She was smiling as she ended the call button. The next scene took Pedro in surprise as she leaned closer to him. "I have decided to become your date tonight Mr. Pedro. This way, I could gauge if you will be suitable to become my fake husband." She emphasized the fake word. "I am glad to hear that Ms. Cassie. Shall I pick you up at 5 PM? Btw, I don't know where you are staying. Can I get your address?" He was fuming yet he bravely put on a smile. Cassie was glad she had that effect on him. It was a step closer to make their relationship believable. She continued to give him a cold treatment. "No thanks. I can manage on my own. See you at the gala?" She spoke with a brow raised and a dismissive tone. “Fine, I will just text you the details. See you!” He said immediately before he gulped the last bit of his coffee and placed his p*****t on the table. It was a thousand pesos more than enough to pay for both their orders. Cassie raised her brow once again. Was he showing off or just being a gentleman? She asked herself. He then took her by surprise when he held her palm and kissed the back of her gently as he looked into her eyes. Cassie’s stomach churned and butterflies were all over her internal organs. No one ever treated her like a lady before. She was falling for him already. The way his eyes stuck with her like it was a bowl of sticky rice she could get lost in them all day. “Ms. Cassie, if you liked this teaser, I showed you. Maybe by tonight, I could already hear your sweet yes.” He said to her and left. A cold bucket of water suddenly fell on her. She was taken back to reality. Yes, he was just doing his job and he was good at it as well. She tried to get back her composure and sip her coffee slowly. It was the first that someone treated her for a coffee and it tasted better than the ones she bought for herself. Luis He did not bother to look back although he could clearly see Cassie smile. He knew for sure he had convinced her to take him. Luis was glad that Pat gave him a heads up. She was really picky and it showed. The way she looked at him at the start as her eyes pierced thru his body and soul. Pat was not wrong to warn him. He went to his car and drove back to the headquarters. He needed to report everything that happened as well as ask for permission from the snobby Council JC to give Cassie access to the Adonis Gala. He sighed as he needed to step up his seduction skills later on. Something he does with ease but his emotions and conscience went against. [Sir, the Secretary of the Mayor's office already followed up on our cash flow report and timeline of project completion. Should I stall or proceed already?] Luis rarely joined company meetings with regard to government projects. It happened that his company was dealing with an impatient Mayor. He could not resist the task, so he called his secretary immediately. "Claire, tell the Architect to handle everything. I do not want to hear anything about the project unless it is about the investment. He should be competent enough to respond to the Secretary of the Mayor." He was venting his frustrations to her. "Yes, sir Luis." She replied. "Also, tell the CEO if this Architect bothers me again. Kindly fire him. He should know who to reach out to first." He instructed her again. He ended the call before she could reply. The engine roared to life as put down his phone on the passenger seat. He looked at his watch only to find he had less time to prepare for the Gala. He planned on taking the full afternoon to prepare but it seemed he only had an hour left. It was good this he wasn’t part of the husbandos to be auctioned off. He reminisced how La Diva smiled at him when he was on the stage at the previous Gala. He shivered in fear at the thought. It was enough to give him an adrenaline rush to comb thru the EDSA traffic. His trip took an hour even though Mandaluyong City was just adjacent to Makati City and the Café was roughly 10KM away from his destination. His left foot hurt from interchanging from the brake pads and the gas pedal. "Can I talk to Sir JC?" He spoke to Pat as he greeted him in the parking lot. “Why do you have a great smile today?” he asked Agent Pat once again. “Nothing. It is just a good day to be out in the sun, eh?” Pat talked in riddles that he could not completely comprehend for the life of him. “You are acting weird once again. Is Council JC there? I have some request that I need to discuss with him.” Luis played it cool so that Pat would respond in a normal way for once. “Oh, JC my loves, he is in his office as always. Would you like me to accompany you?” Pat brushed his hands to Luis’ shoulders. Pat was at it again, showing his other side. He could never figure out his preference. A few hours ago he was flirting with Cassie on the phone and now he was doing the same with him. He slowly moved away from him. “Thanks, Pat, but I can take it from here. Btw, nice job today. I think she is warming up to me.” Luis tried to convince himself rather than Pat. He walked towards the office. It had another entrance from the parking lot. He did not need to get inside the hotel. “Council JC?” He blurted out as he stepped into his office. No one answered but he heard the clicking of the keyboard. He proceeded to with caution and avoided any sounds as he stepped closer to the desk.
