Always give a person three chances, Blake used to tell Felicity. She thought hard about what she was going to say to her mate when the lecture ended. She barely listened to a word he said and had it all prepared in her mind by the time he dismissed them.
She stayed behind, busying herself with her things so as not to catch any unwanted attention.
Her mate stopped next to her seat, "What now?"
Was it just her or did he just sound irritated?
If his expectant look was any indication, he was pretty annoyed.
'Well, tough!' she thought angrily, all her prepared speech evading her. "We're mates, how can you dismiss the fact so completely?"
"I, Eric Montenegro, am the alpha of my pack," he told her in a tone that bordered on the arrogant, "I have responsibility towards my pack and my Luna will only be Lynn."
"And why is that?" She crossed her arms on her chest in a defiant manner.
"Lynn is the only daughter of the alpha of The Wild Crescent pack, by mating her, our two packs will become one." He explained matter-of-factly.
"So this is merger to you, not a mating," she spat out, feeling her anger rise by each passing second.
"It is both," was his cold answer.
"By mating me, you'll become a stronger wolf, and our line will be stronger than that of an arranged mating," she countered, not missing a beat.
"You're a lone regular wolf. Thank your lucky stars I'm not throwing you out of my territory," was his retort.
"Colleges are no man's land," she cried out, her voice rising unconsciously.
"Shush!" He immediately reprimanded her, looking towards the opened door. Nobody seemed to notice their argument. He breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Don't shush me!" She rose to her feet and closed the gap between them.
"Don't speak so loudly," he told her coldly as if they were discussing the weather.
"You're rejecting me, how do you want me to react?" She hissed through gritted teeth.
"With some dignity. Don't make a scene for nothing," it was his turn to hiss through gritted teeth.
"For nothing?" She repeated in a high-pitched voice. "I've waited for you!" She jabbed an accusing finger at his chest.
"I waited for five decades before finally deciding on making Lynn my Luna," he countered, his voice rising as well.
"You could cancel the whole thing off," she told him half pleadingly half imperatively.
"For you?"
The way he said it made tears well up in her eyes. She averted her face, refusing to cry in front of him. He didn't deserve her tears.
She snatched up her books and told him in an unwavering voice, her back turned towards him, "One day, one way or the other, you'll regret this dearly. Mark my words!"
And then, she hurriedly left the auditorium.
She decided to skip her last lecture of the day, seeing as she was in no mood to write down notes. She quickly exited the building and headed straight to her black Mercedes. Much like guys, she adored her car. It was Blake's parting gift, along with a generous trust fund that allowed her to pay her college tuition without having to work.
She had used some of the money to rent a two-bedroom flat downtown. She directly headed there, her tears strolling down her cheeks as she drove.
When she reached her flat, she threw her books on a small table in the living room and headed straight to her bedroom. She threw herself on the bed and cried her heart out.
She had waited for her mate, loving him before meeting him, much like Blake with Maria. But what for?
He had rejected her, all for a merger. Her mate was a greedy-for-power good-for-nothing alpha. She felt repulsion swell in her at the thought. She found him disgusting despite his good looks.
She told herself he wasn't worthy of her attention. Nevertheless, she'd make him regret rejecting her or she'd die trying.
She retrieved her cell phone from her purse and dialed a number.
"Hey Kevin."
"Hey Fey, how are you doing?"
"Do you still want to date me?" She asked him bluntly without preamble.
"Yeah," he replied readily.
"What do you say about moving to New Haven for a couple of weeks then?"
"Whatever you want, I'm in."
"Good," she smirked evilly.
Felicity knew he wouldn't turn her down. He was the owner of the dance school she had trained at during summer. He was also one of Blake's friends, and a vampire at that. Already, plans were forming in her head. She would make Eric beg for forgiveness by the time she was finished with him.
