Living with Blake was a blessing. Felicity had never imagined in her wildest dreams that living with a vampire could be so delightful. Never had she felt so loved back in her pack, except from her mother of course.
"My mate is the same age as you," he explained one day, "I can only hope that had it been her in your shoes, she'd have someone to take care of her."
"Oh, what is she like?" The six year old asked, half intrigued half excited to meet someone her age.
"I haven't met her yet," the vampire shrugged in a nonchalant way that was at opposites with his serious tone.
"Oh, so how do you know her age?"
The little werewolf was intelligent, Blake would give her that.
"The Oracle told me," he informed her in a flat tone.
"What's an oracle?"
And she was curious too. Rightfully so admittedly.
"An old witch with a very strong clairvoyance ability."
"Oh okay."
Felicity already envied Blake's mate for he seemed to love her without even knowing her. She hoped she would meet her mate too and find him as enamored with her as Blake was with his mate.

"Punch that tree," Blake ordered her.
Felicity obliged, frowning. Punching trees was not what she had pictured when Blake said he was going to train her to become stronger.
Her eight year old frame didn't even reach half the tree's height but still she did what she was told. Her punch left an indentation and her fingers stung a little.
The afternoon sun sent its rays dancing on her skin, warming her inside out.
She was homeschooled and Blake had told her that her lessons would only be in the mornings while she'd train in the afternoons.
That rhythm lasted many years and she only started going to school like a normal child when she reached the middle school level at 11. Only she had vampire bodyguards following her at school, and her training sessions were moved to weekends.
All through that time, she was never forced to join a pack. Blake made it so that the pack reining on the state they lived in would accept her as a lone wolf, instead of automatically categorizing her as a rogue just because she didn't belong to a pack. She was always the lone she-wolf wherever they went.
All in all, life was enjoyable.
Her first shift occurred when she was 16, like it did with most common wolves. Blake remained with her all through the night, making sure that she'd harm no one. He was her guardian, the big brother she never had, the paternal figure she never knew... he was her support wall. She didn't know what would have become of her had he not come to her rescue that fateful day, ten years ago.
The summer before her senior year, Blake sent her to wolf camp. And she was happy to say her training was not in vain since she held her own against an alpha's daughter and even won the fight too despite being a regular wolf.
In the beginning of her senior year, Blake finally met his mate after three years of searching. He therefore made her transfer schools so she could befriend his sweet little Maria. Before long, they became best friends.
When Blake had come out of the closet to his human mate, Felicity was only too happy to answer the few questions Maria had regarding him. Thankfully, she wasn't scared of his vampiric side and accepted and loved him for who he was.
It was only when Maria was kidnapped and Blake's friends and M-J, his niece, gathered, that Felicity discovered that Blake was a royal vampire. He had never told her. Despite living with him for years, he had many secrets he kept from her whereas he read her like an open book.
Aside from Maria's k********g, the school year was pretty uneventful. And soon enough, it was time for goodbyes. Since Maria had decided she wanted to become a vampire, she and Blake were moving to Italy where he could take the time to train her; while Felicity had enrolled into a summer dance school and was accepted in the college of her choice, Yale.
It was the start of a new chapter in her life, and she couldn't wait to get started. She couldn't wait to finally be independent. Not that she minded Blake's protectiveness, she had grown used to it, but it was time the little bird flew from the nest.
