Chapter 3

“Jenna, we need to talk about Liam… What really happened today?” I looked at him and sighed. “I was going to call you tomorrow and tell you. I didn’t want to ruin our night. He pulled me into a closet at the theater and told me that we aren’t right for each other… But…” “I can’t believe him... I… “ Just then Michael’s phone rang. Management. He looked up at my expression and tossed his phone on to my bed. He smiled and looked from me to the bed. I knew he had to answer so I nodded in approval as I took my purse and flowers from him. He wandered into the hallway and I followed behind him to see if I could hear what was going on. It was odd for them to be calling him this late, unless they needed him to do something important. I couldn’t hear anything, so I walked past him with my flowers in hand and made my way to the kitchen. I got a nice pink vase and put my flowers in it and set them on my dining room table. I heard Michael make his way into the room with me. I turned around and saw his grim expression. He pulled me into a hug. But not just any hug, the kind of hug people give you when they need to tell you something bad. “That was management. They told me that we need to take a break. They are sending me away for a few months… They won’t tell me anything else. I leave in the morning.” I saw a single tear escape from his eyes. I wiped it away and hugged him tighter. I lost it. I started to cry, hard. I could feel Michael’s grasp around me tighten. He let me cry it all out. I pulled away from him and moved so that I was facing him. “I’m sorry. I just… I can’t picture things without you here. Who will remind me that I need to go grocery shopping?” He chuckled. He put his arms around my waist and just held me for a few minutes before his phone was ringing off the hook again. Management. He sighed and answered the phone call. At this point we knew that if he didn’t answer, they would call until Paul, their security guard, arrived to escort him out. “Yes. I’m saying my good byes now. Then I am going to go pack.” He walked into the kitchen. I couldn’t hear his words, just mumbles. He walked back into the room. He held his right arm behind his head and sighed as he entered the room. “I swear, they are so difficult. They called Paul. He’ll be here in 15 minutes to pick me up. Then I have to pack, and I leave first thing in the morning. I don’t know where this came from, or what I did. But they said I could have little to no contact with you. A phone call once a week. I’m sorry babe.” He sighed again and let a few tears escape his eyes. He wiped them away quickly and looked back up at me. “Let me tuck you in love. It’s the least I can do. I’ll sing you to sleep, princess.” And that’s just what he did. The last thing I remember what Michael’s sweet voice singing to me. ___ When I woke up, there was a note on the pillow next to me. It read: Good morning princess, I’m really sorry that I am not going to be here for the next few months. I’m going to miss you more than you know. I promise to think about you every day. I will call you every single chance I get. I promise. Don’t forget about me. Keep your eye out for letters from me. I don’t have to worry about management with snail mail! I love you Princess. Keep your chin up. Love always, Michael PS- There’s a surprise for you in the kitchen and living room. I made my way to the living room and saw a box full of Michael’s t-shirts and boxers! They were my favorite thing to wear around the house. There was also a little bottle of his cologne that I love! I grabbed one of his t-shirts and threw it on over my tank top. I slowly made my way to the kitchen. On the counter was a box of my favorite cereal and new teddy bear, that was holding a four leaf clover. I smiled and shed a few tears. I grabbed the bear and hugged it. Behind the bear was a box of tissues with a sticky note that says “Please don’t cry. I love you –Michael” I had just poured myself a bowl of cereal when the doorbell rang. I walked to the door and it was Liam. I just stood there in shock. He pushed past me and started talking. “I Just wanted to make sure that you are okay, I mean with Michael being sent away like that.” “Well- I- Yea. I-“ “Good.” He just stood there. We started at each other for what seemed like forever. I turned around to shut the door and he was standing there in front of me. He grabbed me by my waist, pulled me close and kissed me.
