His Baby Mama Ran Away

1557 Words
Sabrina wanted to bite her tongue off so badly. Damn, she hadn't expected the king to overhear her words. With the look Asher was giving her, she knew that if she couldn't come up with a reasonable lie, she might not get out of this alive. "Nothing. Just some medical issues," she stammered. "Oh? Is Alpha Asher feeling unwell? That's very rare, especially for an Alpha of your stature. Ensure you take good care of yourself." The words were more taunting than concerned. Everyone knew Asher prided himself on his strength. He was far stronger than most Alphas, and falling sick for someone like him was unheard of. The King was reminding him: If you can get sick, then clearly you are not as strong as you make yourself seem. If Asher had been angry before, now he was furious. Truly, each time this woman opened her mouth, she only seemed to make his life more difficult. "Thank you, Your Majesty. If there's nothing else, I'll go speak with the others first." He didn't even wait for the King's response before waltzing off—a gesture that was clearly disrespectful. King Sebastian didn't react much, seemingly already used to Asher's unruly behavior. Sabrina, however, was looking for an excuse to run away; the King intimidated her a lot. Before she could speak, the Supreme Alpha smiled down at her kindly. "It must be hard on you, having to care for your Alpha and yourself all at once. I've known him for a long time; his temper can be a bit unbearable." "Uh, thank you, Your Majesty, for your concern, but he's... not that bad." Besides, she wasn't the one carrying the babies, so at least she only had to worry about one person. And sure, Asher did threaten her life multiple times, his temper was hard to handle, and he was heartless when dealing with... What was she even thinking? Of course the guy was that bad! He was awful; no excuses could cover up some of the terrible things he did. She was just unfortunate enough to be stuck with him. Sebastian seemed to read her mind. "You don't need to force yourself. Come, let's go to the balcony for some fresh air." Sabrina followed him wordlessly. The balcony was indeed better than being cooped up in that stuffy banquet hall. The fresh air helped ease her nerves. She looked down at the garden below and admired the vibrant flowers. "How did you two meet?" "Huh?" "You and Alpha Asher. He is mated and doesn't seem to have an interest in anyone else except Bella. So I'm a bit curious about your relationship." Sabrina thought carefully about her response. She didn't want to paint Asher in a bad light by saying they had a one-night stand. That would imply that the Alpha often slept around and wasn't very faithful to his mate. She feared the King might use that against Asher in the future, and she would end up being blamed for not keeping her mouth shut. "We've known each other for a while. It's just a coincidence that this happened." "I see. You must like him a lot." "Um... no? He has a mate already." And did she forget to mention that Asher hated her with every bone in his body? "Like I said, it's a coincidence, and a miracle." "A miracle?" "I am an Alpha." Alpha-to-Alpha pregnancies were nearly impossible. There had only been a few instances in history where such a thing happened. Sebastian hummed in understanding. "Well, if you ever feel that he doesn't treat you well, you can personally come to me. I won't let any wolf under my rule face injustice." Sabrina nodded, though she had no intention of doing such a thing. She and Asher might not get along, but she wasn't about to betray the man carrying her children to his biggest rival. They exchanged a few more words before Sabrina went back to the party. The moment she walked back into the room, a woman grabbed her harshly by the arm. "You b***h!" Bella scowled, her eyes gleaming with hatred. When she had told the Lycan King about Asher's betrayal, she'd thought he'd help her get rid of this woman. Who would have thought Sebastian would throw a banquet on their behalf instead? He had played her. The only person she could take her anger out on was the helpless doctor. "You think you can take Asher from me?! Dream on!" "Ms., calm down." Sabrina tried to pull her hand away, but the woman's grip was firm. Who the hell said she wanted to take Asher away? That guy was too damn crazy. Only his mate would have any sort of feelings for him. "You misunderstand." "Misunderstand? You're pregnant with my mate's child! What's there to misunderstand? Do you think Asher will keep you in the pack as a mistress after having his child? Never! I won't let that happen—never!" "Bella!" Both women flinched. Sabrina's eyes widened when she saw the Alpha approaching. Surprisingly, Asher's anger wasn't directed at her. "Let go of her." "Why are you defending her?! I'm your mate, destined by the Moon Goddess!" "f**k that," he said through gritted teeth, "and f**k the Moon Goddess too. If you make a scene, I swear I'll have you locked up in the dungeons. You think these people pity you now? Imagine what they'll think once I tell them about the numerous affairs you've been having. You think I don't know about that?" Bella's eyes widened, fear flickering in them. Reluctantly, she let go of Sabrina and backed away. Asher gave the doctor one look and walked away. She hurriedly followed behind him. The celebration hadn't ended yet, but the Alpha wasn't in the mood to entertain the Lycan King anymore. Sabrina sat stiffly in the car, feeling that the man beside her was like a ticking bomb, ready to explode at any moment. "This is all your fault!" Asher accused her for what felt like the hundredth time in the week they'd been living together. "That's unfair. I wasn't the one who cursed you, so how is it my fault?" "Do you have any idea what those bastards at the banquet were saying about me? Years of hard work—gone down the drain!" "Hard work? You call killing innocent people and forcefully taking their homes hard work? If you can't realize your mistakes even now, then you really haven't learned anything. If things keep going like this, you'll have to push kids out of your ass!" "Stop the car." At his command, the driver, who had been pretending to mind his business, pulled over. Asher turned to Sabrina, his voice cold. "Get out." Sabrina glared at him. "Seriously?! You're going to leave me in the middle of nowhere?" "I said—" Asher pulled something from his jacket, and Sabrina found herself staring down the barrel of a pistol. "Get out." She was tempted to challenge him further, but she feared the man might actually kill her this time. She opened the door and stepped out of the car, making sure to slam it hard to show her anger. The car zoomed off, leaving her standing alone in a very remote area. She just knew it would take hours to find her way back to the villa. * * * When Sabrina returned to the house, she found her bag lying on the ground outside. Confused and annoyed, she marched inside to confront Asher. What kind of tantrum was he throwing by tossing her belongings out like trash? She found him seated at his desk, focused on his computer, barely sparing her a glance when she entered. With a dismissive wave, he gestured to a golden credit card on the table. “Take that and leave,” he said flatly. “Excuse me? Leave? You want me to... go?” “Don’t show yourself in front of me again.” For a moment, Sabrina stared at him in stunned silence. Then her gaze shifted to the credit card, and a radiant smile spread across her face. Moments later, she picked it up with an almost gleeful expression. “Mr. Walker, you’re very generous. Thank you so much!” she chirped, quickly grabbing her bag and rushing out before he could change his mind. She climbed into one of Asher’s cars, instructing the driver to take her to the airport. Asher watched from the window as the car disappeared down the driveway. Alone in the now eerily quiet house, he felt an unexpected pang of gloom. That shameless woman! After getting him pregnant, she’d had the nerve to take his money and leave without a second thought. The thought made his blood boil, and in a fit of frustration, he smashed his fist onto his desk, cracking the edge. “Whatever,” he muttered bitterly. “I’ll figure it out on my own.” Meanwhile, Sabrina was reclining in a first-class seat, a glass of champagne in her hand. She took a sip, savoring the luxurious bubbles and the freedom that came with it. For the first time in weeks, she felt truly at peace. “Ah,” she sighed contentedly, “it feels good to finally get away from crazy people.”
