Everyone's eyes turned to the storm that was happening to Mr. Thomson, who was having a terrible time. As they left, Nick took Alanna by the hand and led her to the lift. H
Nick pushed the button to the 13th floor, the top floor of the building. There they ascended to the president's office as if nothing had happened.
When they entered the office, Nick's assistant was there preparing some papers.
Alanna let go of Nick's hand and looked him up and down awkwardly.
—I could handle that situation on my own. I didn't need any more fuss down there,— Alanna said proudly.
—Yeah? Tell me, how did you plan to deal with that? Would you just leave?— Nick looked back at her and said mockingly.
Nick immediately gestured to the assistant, who took control of the television and put on the screen a video of a surveillance camera from Alanna's office.
Apparently Camille had broken in and smashed everything, including her mobile phone.
Alanna was stunned. On that phone was hundreds of pieces of evidence about her and Lucas in relation to her betrayal.
—Camille is not stupid. She knows a lot of things. Next time find a better place to keep your evidence— Nick said unsurprised.
She was furious, how could two brothers be so different? Camille was doing everything to hurt her, while Nick was doing everything to protect her.
She was tired of not knowing what Camille wanted, but she also didn't feel good knowing that Nick was doing so much for her. He must want something in return, right?
—You and her are planning something. What have I got to do with all this?— she shouted in a daze.
Nick listened to Alanna, and looked at the side as he handed him a small notebook.
—Camille has broken company rules, urged other employees to humiliate a newcomer. She also hit her and threw her down hard— Nick dictated to the deputy.
as Nick spoke, the deputy wrote down all the directions he gave him.
—Mr. Smith, that infraction deserves a Type D reprimand— points out the deputy.
Alanna didn't quite understand what was going on. Her expression was uncomfortable in front of Nick. She must have misheard, did Nick want to reprimand Camille?
For a moment, Alanna and Nick held each other's gaze. She could see his expression, cold and cutting, but charming at the same time.
Ever since she was a little girl, Alanna had envied her schoolmates. They all had siblings, except for her, who was an only child. She always longed for that feeling of sisterly love, but she could only find a resemblance in Lucas' pseudo-love.
However, Alanna never imagined she was getting that feeling of love from Nick... Now she couldn't help but smile when she looked into Nick's eyes.
Due to this sudden change of mood, Alanna lowered her head in embarrassment, even her cheeks blushed like a tomato.
Nick didn't express any feelings, he just looked her up and down, while quietly biting his lips.
—Camille is your sister, aren't you worried that she's going to tell everyone that you gave her a warning?— said Alanan, trying to make a point.
—She humiliated you without remorse. Let her pay the consequences— Nick said in a clear tone, but with a strong authoritative aura.
Alanna was f*****g charmed by the man. He was definitely born to be a leader. It was no wonder all the women fell at his feet.
If only she hadn't met Lucas, she'd still believe in love. But now it was too late. Even if she had a man as perfect as Nick, her heart was too broken.
Alanna had experienced real betrayal, so love didn't exist for her. What she had with Nick was just a consensual agreement.
—I'll send a driver to pick you up. You will move into my mansion tonight— Nick said as he handed Alanna a pair of keys. in her hands.
She was stunned, moving into his mansion... She had no words to say at that moment.
What the hell was going through Nick's head? It must all be fake, that marriage didn't exist!
They weren't even a real couple. Why had he invited her to live with him?
Were they supposed to sleep together too?
At that thought, Alanna blushed completely. Nick just looked at her and left the office without a word.
She stood there with the key in her hands, not knowing what the hell to do now.
After a few seconds, Alanna returned to her office and lowered her head as she looked carefully at the keys Nick had handed her.
She snorted in embarrassment and put them in her purse.
In the afternoon, Alanna had left the company and decided to go to a coffee shop for a drink... as soon as she stepped out of the lift and walked past the reception desk, she saw Camille standing there, handing out a couple of leaflets about the humiliation of the staff.
Camille immediately sensed Alanna's presence and looked at her with intense hatred. She really wanted to kill Alanna.
—You've come to mock me?— Camille said wryly.
Alanna said nothing even though she heard Camille speak.
—Someday you will pay for what you do, Alanna. I hope the world totally destroys you— Camille added as she noticed that Alanna was ignoring her terribly.
—Could you stop being so stubborn? If you keep this up, things will end badly for you— Alanna was a little relieved to see Camille like this, but she didn't want this rivalry to last forever either.
Camille hated everything about Alanna. She was her nemesis ever since the truth about her and Lucas came out, but why so much hate?
If it wasn't for Nick, Camille would have beaten Alanna all over her body by now, but she just couldn't assault Alanna now.
—Stop being such a b***h!— Camille added with a shout.
Alanna had decided not to continue with this absurd fight, made a disapproving gesture and then headed for the cafeteria.
She was so happy that Camille would pay for her actions, but, at the same time, so sad that she would never be her friend,
At the end of the workday, Alanna left the company on time. She didn't even remember the whole moving thing that Nick had asked her to do.
She just wanted to go home and rest. The day was pretty hectic for her first day at the company.
However, when Alanna got home she saw a big truck in front of her house. She was a little intrigued.
She immediately looked up and saw a couple of men going in and out of her house. The men were carrying all of someone's belongings in their hands.
—What the hell are they doing?— came Alanna's sudden loud scream.
She was scared, these men were taking her things. Then a familiar voice was heard inside the house.
—Alanna, Alanna, I didn't know you were moving!— said Cristina, Alanna's neighbour of five years.
—I... I... didn't... I didn't know... I didn't know..— said Alanna.
—These men say that you are Nick Smith's wife. Is it true?— asked Cristina excitedly.
Alanna stared at Cristina without knowing what to say. She simply sighed and took Cristina's hand to lead her to the garden of the house.
—Cristina, explain to me how those men got into my house, did you give them the spare key?— Alanna asked with some frustration.
Cristina smiled mischievously and took Alanna's hands off her arm.
—The moving company showed me a marriage certificate between you and Mr. Smith. I had to open the door... After all, they told me they were taking your things to his mansion— Cristina replied.
Alanna heard that and looked at Cristina uncomfortably. Maybe she wasn't to blame. Things were definitely getting out of hand.
—Why didn't you call me sooner? You should have asked me before you let strangers into my house, don't you think?— replied Alanna with a failed attempt at calm.
—God! you don't deny it,so it's true? You're the wife of the richest man in town! How did you meet him? Why didn't you tell me you were married? —Cristina was so eager to know Alanna's point of view.
—What? —Alanna was stunned.
Cristina was getting all the facts straight. How was it possible that now everyone knew? She hadn't even really married Nick, had she?
Cristina kept insisting on knowing the truth about these facts, but Alanna was completely ignoring her.
