Chapter 13 Rachel’s entire body was cold from her lonely night of sleep. The eternal sunshine of Miami and the ocean in the distance only gave her a headache if she looked at it this morning. She kept the blinds closed and the light off, basically hiding in her room since dawn. This was the day Kirno threatened to come for them and yesterday might have been an appetizer with today as the main course. Her stomach grumbled with hunger and she dared to leave, drawn to the living area where Oliver and Leo played together. Peeking in, she saw Oliver toss the ball to their son, who couldn’t catch or throw it back, but Leo laughed and encouraged Ollie to throw again. Rachel entered, wishing things were different. Leo and Ollie belonged together. She sighed and placed her hand on his shoulder.
