Back to the Lightwood Pack

The little girl waved her hands, and it felt like an imaginary rope had tied itself around Nia’s wrist. Nia struggled to free herself, but the hand over her mouth only tightened. She was dragged deeper into the forest, her mind racing with fear. Suddenly, she was flung to the ground, and her captors revealed themselves. The little girl in blue gazed at her with an unnerving intensity, her eyes flashing with a hint of magic. The tall figure loomed over her, his face chiseled and unyielding. "Who are you?" Nia demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. The girl smiled, her lips curling up. "You'll find out soon enough." She raised her hand, and a faint glow emanated from her fingers. Nia's eyes widened as she realized this girl could wield magic. The warrior stepped forward, his eyes glinting in the moonlight. "You're coming with us, Nia. Whether you like it or not." Nia's heart raced as she realized she was at their mercy. She had to think fast, or she'd be trapped forever. But how could she escape from these two strangers? One moment, she was staring up at the warrior's imposing figure; the next, she was scrambling to her feet and dashing into the darkness of the forest. She heard the warrior's curse and the girl's laughter as they gave chase. Nia's heart pounded in her chest, her breath coming in ragged gasps. She could feel the magic emanating from the girl, sensing it reaching out to ensnare her. But she refused to give up. She darted between the trees, her feet pounding against the earth. Suddenly, a root caught her foot, and she tumbled to the ground. As she struggled to rise, the warrior's hand closed around her wrist, pulling her up. Nia tried to wrestle free, but his grip was like iron. The girl approached, her eyes gleaming with magic. "You can't escape," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "You'll come with us, and you'll do as we say. Carter is so eager to see you." Nia's heart sank, her hopes of escape dwindling. These were allies of Carter. This had nothing to do with Khalil at all. But she refused to give up. She would find a way to outsmart them, to escape, and to make her way back to Khalil. She had to. Nia's mind raced as she was dragged deeper into the forest, her wrist bound by the invisible magical rope. She knew she had to think fast and come up with a plan to escape. But how could she outsmart a magic-wielding girl and a skilled warrior? As they approached Carter’s estate and she knew she was back on Lightwood territory, Nia's heart sank. She was being taken straight into the lion's den. But she refused to give up. She would find a way to escape and make her way back to Khalil and safety. She had to. As they entered the castle, Nia's eyes scanned her surroundings, searching for any opportunity to escape. But the girl's magic and the warrior's grip seemed too strong. She was trapped, at the mercy of Carter's allies. Nia's heart raced as she was dragged into the grand estate, the magical rope binding her wrists. She struggled and kicked, but her captors were too strong. Finally, they reached the opulent study, where Carter sat behind his massive desk, his eyes gleaming with alpha authority. "Ah, Nia," he said, his deep voice dripping with dominance. "I've been waiting for you. Running away like that, no less to the grand palace. I have my own people at the palace, stupid b***h. Word got back to me in no time. I have heard how you've been throwing yourself to sleep with the prince of wolves himself. You've been a very disobedient mate, and now you'll have to face the consequences.` The warrior and the girl pushed her forward, and Nia stumbled, her wrists still bound. Carter's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he approached her. "You see, Nia, as alpha of the pack, I cannot let your defiance go unpunished. You'll learn to obey me or suffer the consequences. And I have many punishments waiting for you, starting with isolation with magical barriers surrounding you. You'll be confined to your quarters, with no contact with anyone but me." Nia's heart sank, fear creeping up her spine. She knew she had to think fast and come up with a plan to escape. But for now, she was at Carter's mercy, trapped in his estate with no clear way out. Suddenly she felt the familiar buzz, as if her energy was saying it would protect her and she needed to trust it. Her hate and all her horrible memories for the entire Lightwood pack seared through her as she saw pack members watching her being handled by Carter as he dragged her away. Her parents' eyes gleamed in satisfaction, stirring the hate in her even more, until suddenly, her mind went completely silent and a wicked smile started to spread across her face. Khalil's eyes widened in horror as he watched Nia being dragged through the shimmering portal. He sprinted towards her, but not fast enough. Before he could reach her, the sage girl turned to him with a malevolent glare. Her eyes blazed with magic, and she hissed, "You'll never save her!" With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a blast of energy that sent Khalil flying across the room. He crashed to the ground, dazed and disoriented. By the time he struggled to his feet, the portal had closed, leaving him staring at empty air. Nia was gone. Khalil's growl echoed through the chamber, a primal roar of frustration and anger. He had been so close, yet so powerless to stop her abduction. His fists clenched, and he vowed to find a way to rescue Nia, no matter what it took. He would not rest until she was safe in his palace. Khalil's mind-link echoed through the pack, an urgent command that resonated with every wolf within a 100-mile radius. "Find Nia! Report any information, no matter how small. Whoever withholds information will face severe punishment, even death." The response was immediate. Trackers and scouts from all over the region began to report in, sharing any intel they had gathered. But so far, none have found any trace of Nia. Just then, a seasoned tracker named Ryker spoke up. "Khalil, I think I've found something. I traced the portal's signature, and it ended up in a forest outside the Lightwood Pack's territory." Khalil's eyes narrowed, and his heart raced with excitement. "Where exactly?" "A few miles east of their border, in their forest. The signature is faint, but it's definitely the same magic that took Nia." "Khalil, I'm coming with you," Jewel said, her voice firm and resolute as she approached him. She was looking for Nia in urgency when she overheard what happened. Khalil opened his mouth to protest, but Jewel cut him off. "Don't even think about trying to stop me, brother. I'm coming, and that's final." Khalil knew better than to argue with his sister when she had made up her mind. He nodded curtly, knowing that Jewel was a skilled warrior and would be an asset on the mission. But what Khalil didn't know was that Jewel had discovered something ominous during her research in the library. Something that made her fear for Nia's life. She was determined to help rescue Nia, no matter the cost, because if what she read was correct, then Nia was in more danger than she realized. "Let's move out," Khalil said, his team assembled and ready. Jewel fell into a step beside him, her eyes fixed on the path ahead.
