  KATHERINE’S POV   I certainly didn’t expect Murtagh to shift.  And yet it was exactly what happened: as soon as Dad said that we were more in danger than he initially believed, Murtagh began to tremble uncontrollably. I realized that he was having trouble controlling his wolf when I saw that his fingernails were turning into lethal claws, and that his hands were taking the shape of paws. "Murtagh!" I called him, trying to bring him back, but there was no way. His eyes had become pure amber, filled with anger and the desire to kill. "Let’s get him away from her!" Raynard said to my father urgently in his voice. "Before he involuntarily hurts her!"
