Chapter 5: What is your name?

1080 Words
Maddie's Point of View "Set me free! Are you deaf or what?" I gave it my all to break free from Alphonse's grasp, but it was like trying to move a mountain - completely in vain. "Do you realize what you are doing right now is a crime?" "A crime?" he turned up his nose. "I'm a lawbreaker, Missy," he icily declared as he swung open the door and tossed me onto the bed. He sealed his eyes with me, and I could see they were filled with a world of longing, as if it had been long since he was waiting. "Stop resisting me because, whether you like it or not, you will be my mate and the Luna of this pack--" "Cut the bull, Mister!" I roared like a big cat, attempting to get back on my feet. "I haven't got a clue about this Luna, pack, or whatever play you're talking about, but it's just not my cup of tea!" I rose to my feet, all set to breeze past him. However, he gave me a shove and tossed me back onto the bed once more. "You hang tight right here until you drop the act and accept me! Stop pretending!" He opened the door and turned away. In the blink of an eye, he vanished into thin air while I was trapped in the vast, hushed chamber. I was completely taken aback, trying to wrap my head around what went down today. I was kicked into my rental house, I ate in a weird place where there was this weird ceremony and then... I bumped into this dude and now, I find myself in this dull room with a fancy bed and all the usual room jazz. "Pretending my ass! No way! I haven't got a clue what you're blabbering on about!" I let out a bellyache and plopped my back on the bed. I then gave my one hand a little wave to count my fingers while I looked up at the ceiling. Things just kept messing up... Little did I know, I dozed off. I was completely in the dark at the time and only came to my senses when the door creaked open, unveiling Juno. He bowed his head the moment he laid eyes on me. "Luna, Alpha wants you to join them in the dining room. He asks the servants to prepare a lot of food, so he is asking for your presence." Upon hearing that, my ears perked up like a dog's. I was hungry, however, breaking bread with that man would simply turn my stomach. Just as I was about to give the cold shoulder and play as if I wanted to sleep more, my belly let out a growl with hunger that made me turn beet red. Nevertheless, I kept my cool and played it cool as I shifted my eyes on Juno. "Tell him I will eat if I want to and he should stop deciding what I'll do in my life--" "I can hear your stomach rumbling from a mile away, so how can you turn down my invitation?" A man spoke, laced with irritation, walked in. "Quit digging your heels in and come down to have a meal with me." I wanted to throw in the towel, but what other fish is there to fry? I don’t want to bite the dust by going hungry, seeing as I haven’t struck gold with a new job and I’m flat broke to secure a new crib. Goodness gracious, what’s the whole kit and caboodle of your grand scheme in my existence, oh divine one? I came back to my reverie when Juno remarked,"Let's go, Luna. Alpha has already come down." Mulling it over for a hot minute, I rose to my feet and gave a firm nod. As I sauntered over to the dining table, my peepers immediately locked onto the dame seated right across from Alphonse. She didn't give me the time of day, instead she carried on with her meal. Just as I was about to take a seat, she leaped up to her feet, causing the floor to creak beneath the chair. However, she wasn't able to leave when Alphonse spat coldly."Sit back, Kendall." "But I'm already full, there's no reason for me to hang around," she said, giving me the side-eye. With bated breath, Alphonse let the fork and knife slip through his fingers, meeting her gaze. "Then, give your Luna a bit of respect or at least greet her." "Luna? Ha!" She let out a breath of disbelief. "Alpha," her voice tinged with a mix of desperation and exhaustion, "please, just grant me a moment to process the whirlwind of events that has unfolded before me." With a swift and graceful movement, she pivoted on her feet, her eyes locking onto Juno's with an intensity that could ignite a thousand suns. Her footsteps came to a halt, her body now positioned directly in front of him. Then, she directed her shoulder towards his, delivering a forceful bump. The moment she gracefully departed from the room, a profound stillness settled upon the dining table, as if time itself had paused in reverence. "Juno, shadow her every move, ensuring that not a single word escapes her lips regarding the arrival of..." He paused, his gaze penetrating my very soul with his mesmerizing, profound eyes. "What is your... name?" My jaw involuntarily dropped in sheer disbelief. The absurdity of the situation caused me to instinctively slap my forehead, as if trying to comprehend the surreal reality unfolding before my eyes. A wave of amusement washed over me, threatening to erupt into uncontrollable laughter. "Pray tell, what manner of person would dare to kidnap someone without knowing their name?" I grinned. "Maddie. Maddie Ziegler." In a fleeting instant, our words hung in the air, suspended between us like a delicate thread of anticipation. Time seemed to slow as our eyes met, locking in a gaze that transcended the boundaries of mere conversation. At that profound moment, an invisible force seemed to weave an intricate tapestry of connection between our souls, drawing us closer together in a dance of unspoken understanding. Just as I was about to dig in my food, since I couldn't take his piercing eyes anymore. Suddenly, a voice burst out from the door. "Alpha Ambrose, I heard you finally found your mate. May I see her to see if she fits to my liking?"
