Chapter 3: Lock her up

Maddie’s Point of View My nerves were in overdrive, leaving me as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. The world around me became a blur and my knees felt like jelly. It felt like we were the only two people left on Earth. As he leaned in to kiss me, his lips were like a taste of paradise, leaving me on cloud nine with every little gesture he made. As our kissing intensified and I closed my eyes, he abruptly pulled away and accused me of being too loud. His behavior was unacceptable, as he had crossed a boundary by touching me without my consent. To make matters worse, he pressed something hard against my stomach, which made me feel uncomfortable and violated. It was a disappointing and frustrating experience, especially since he was an attractive person who had a charismatic presence. What a shame! As I gave him a shove once more, I spun around and pulled my luggage along. But before I could even take a step, he tugged on my arm, pulling me right back to where I started. “What in the world?!” I let out a scream that could wake the dead. “Well, mister! You should count your lucky stars that I won’t report you to the authorities, even though you’ve been crossing the line with me! You’re harassing me! So, if I were you, stop bothering me!” “Harassing you?” he asked, arching his eyebrows with a hint of skepticism. “I’m not sure that counts as harassment when you’re enjoying it,” he added, a sly grin creeping across his face. “Besides, shouldn’t you be thrilled that you’ve finally found me? Your fated mate—” As my patience grew thinner, I drifted closer to him. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore, and I let out a blood-curdling roar. “Mister, I do not know what you’re talking about, but could you please stop? It’s really starting to bother me. We’re not in a movie, so you can’t just play a part like that.” As I spoke, I noticed him flinch, but I didn’t care. I turned my back and left him there. However, just as I left, two men in a white shirt suddenly appeared in front of me, catching me off guard. In the blink of an eye, the man who had kissed me earlier also emerged from nowhere. “What’s going on?” I inquired while taking a breather. “I don’t know why you’re playing dumb, but it’s really getting on my nerves,” he said, his jaw tight with frustration. “I’m Alphonse Percival, the Alpha of the mightiest pack, and I won’t let myself be cast aside! Juno! Ajar! Hand her over!” “Yes Alpha!” the two men replied, taking their sweet time sauntering over to me. I dropped my suitcase and was all set to make a mad dash when they nabbed me. The man with a piercing on his lips addressed me, “Luna, do not resist Alpha. The Alpha had been eagerly awaiting your arrival since he gained his wolf. By the way,” he added, “my name is Juno, and I serve as the pack’s second in command. Meeting you is a pleasure at last. I’m Alpha Alphonse’s Beta.” “I can’t wrap my head around what you are all yammering on about! Alpha? Luna? Beta?” Caught between a rock and a hard place, I found myself in a tight spot with two men gripping my arms. Despite my best efforts to wriggle free, it was like trying to move mountains, as they remained unmoved. “Don’t make me laugh! Are we living in a real-life cinematic experience? If that’s the case, spill the beans on the whereabouts of the script and camera, so I can be knowledgeable and act accordingly!” I sneered. “Head to the packhouse and give Kendra the heads up to keep her under lock and key in my room. Once the ceremony wraps up, I’ll be right behind!” “You can rely on us, Alpha!” Ajar answered. “f**k!” I squirmed. “What do you mean, lock me?! Are you crazy?!” “Juno, Ajar! You know, we can’t let the cat out of the bag to the pack members about her, since we’ve got Kendall playing the role of the fake pack Luna. Don’t let the elderly know about her too!” Juno and Ajar were in perfect agreement. “Absolutely, Alpha! We will fulfill your order,” they said simultaneously. Alphonse barked orders with a heavy hand, spun on his heel, and, just like a magician’s trick, vanished into thin air, leaving me with a parting shot. How did it happen…? It’s as if he had a superpower. I shifted my gaze towards the two burly men flanking me. Suddenly, Ajar made a quick movement that caught me off guard and left me utterly stunned. In the blink of an eye, he tore off like a bat out of hell, his footsteps echoing like thunder in my ears as he ran with the agility of a swift wolf. I stood there in disbelief, my jaw hanging open, as a gust of wind swept past me, sending shivers down my spine. I was at a loss for words, not knowing how to react to the sudden turn of events. I was completely unaware that they were actually walking amongst us. I had always thought of them as a mere figment of my imagination, a tale with twists and turns that I conjured up in my mind. But the moment I saw those magnificent furs, the formidable claws, and the lightning-fast agility, I realized they were all too real. “Luna, let’s hit the road. Ajar dove headlong into the packhouse to size up Gammas and the rest of the guard, because we can’t just let you waltz into the territory, regarding as Alpha Alphonse placed fake Luna to keep the pack members from doubting his leadership skills in running our pack.” “Huh?” I stood there, utterly stunned, my jaw hanging open, as I struggled to process the vivid and overwhelming sensory experience before me. The sights were so incredible that it felt like my eyes were struggling to take it all in, from the dazzling array of colors to the intricate patterns and shapes. And the feeling was one of awe and wonder, as if I had been transported to a magical world beyond my wildest dreams. With a sudden rush of wind, we were hurtling through the air, me, oblivious to our destination. The world was a blur of colors and shapes as we zipped through the sky. The hum of the wind in my ears was deafening, drowning out any other sounds. Then, as suddenly as it started, it was over. We landed with a jolt that sent a shockwave through my body, leaving me disoriented and shaken. The air was thick with the scent of burnt ozone, and I could feel the heat emanating from the ground beneath us. In the blink of an eye, I had been transported to an entirely different world. Where on earth am I?
