Chapter Seven - Death is but an emotion

1054 Words
The wind ripped through the trees from above me as the translucent leaves were torn from the stems, blood oozed from an open wound on my head as a thick branch made from white bark pressed into my limbs and immobilized my weight so I couldn’t escape. My eyes glazed over as my surroundings became a combined blur as my blood rumbled through my veins and plummeted out of my torn artery. My hands grew cold as shock began to set in, I shoved my head back into the frozen ground and gritted my teeth to the point of cracking my incisors. The need to succumb to the terrorizing pain overwhelmed me as flames of magenta and onyx spread throughout my limbs as a massive branch pinned me to where I lay. Kill me, kill me! I begged as tears of blood leaked from my tear ducts. “No!” the sound of multiple voices cried out and mixed within the heavens as heartbreaking howls filled the air. Spots appeared in my bleak vision as I faded in and out of consciousness, my calves were devoured by the hellfire as the flames spread throughout my limbs until my eyes were nothing but pure gems of cyan. The ground trembled from under me as my screams became endless with the innocence poured from my soul. A translucent blue hue appeared in ribbons upon my burning flesh as it spread to what remained of my flesh and bones and seeped into the soil where I was meant to return. Texts of a silver-white appeared from below me as spirals consumed my body just a moment before I blacked out and accepted my inevitable death. I was to burn at the hands of a ruthless Alpha who would risk the deaths of hundreds to obtain what he thought was his. My hair ignited in a pale blue flurry as it soared above me and obstructed the view of the sky, an impossible whirlwind embraced my back as the ground disintegrated from under me. This is how I die. Strands of fiery blue hair hung over my face as my head lulled to the side in defeat, the pain was nothing but a phantom now as reality became muddled as my soul carried itself away. I hung over what had once been my vessel, she was a beautiful creature with a heart-shaped face and lonely crystalline blue eyes. A soul entrapped in despair and held prisoner by the man who'd helped give her life at the expanse of her mother’s life. All lives must come to an end, I thought sorrowfully. Her lips parted slightly as a final breath escaped her lungs and broke the chains of life from my chest, I was truly gone. I turned my attention away from what I had once been and shifted my gaze to the world that now surrounded me. The realm of Mara, the creator of souls and the afterlife was a thin veil upon the earth that made up the world of Gliese. “No!” a pained voice shouted from the distance. Flames consumed the vegetation from around me and polluted the air with a thick cloud of smoke that one would not be able to breathe. I stepped forward with the burning grass licking at my heels and seeping through my arches and embraced my toes. I felt no pain as my physical form no longer breathed the corrupt air that made up the world. I was but a creature no longer bound to the living as the lives of thousands remained connected to me. “Alaïa!” an unfamiliar voice cried out from desperation. Images of a pure white wolf appeared amongst the burning trees; my silver hair obscured my vision as I turned my head to see who called my name. Names were binding as simply uttering it could raise a spirit from its rest and pull it away from the world of Mara. I scowled pitifully as I took in the horrified gaze of the golden-eyed beast. He reeked of blood and death and yet the aura that surrounded him was anything but evil and hatred, his soul was one to be reckoned with and possibly hailed. “Do not call out for me,” I said in a song-like voice and yet it would never reach the living. His pointed ears peeled back as he crumbled to the ground before the deceased vessel that once held my soul, he grabbed the charred hand that rested from under my body and pressed it to his cheek. The fur from his lean face fluttered to the ground and soaked the once scorched earth in a delicate white as he shifted from before me. His muscular body replaced what had once been a mighty wolf with his legs folded from under him as he leaned into the beautiful woman from before him. Sorrow and regret filled his bones as tears swelled his eyes and coated the girl’s bosom, her clothes were burned away revealing the scars she had inflicted over the years by those who were meant to protect her. Her delicate features were at peace as if she hadn’t been screaming from the traumatizing agony that she had experienced just moments before. “Alaïa,” he moaned pitifully as his blackened hair fell over his face. He lifted her limp hand to his lips and kissed the scarred groves and along her wrists as if he were drunk on her cold touch. His golden eyes shimmered through his endless tears as he lifted her corpse and pressed it against his chest and held her as if his beating heart could revive what she once had been. “Don’t call out for me!” I cried out. My chest ached for the man before me and yet I couldn’t reach out for him and console the agonizing pain that he was feeling at that moment. Tears sprung to my eyes, tears that I should not have been able to express as the incredibly overwhelming loneliness consumed me. A scream ruptured from my lungs as my silver hair ignited from around me and blurred the image before me. The world grew dark, with all sounds fading from existence.
