Taken as their mate

Chapter two

~Zadock~

Finally my pesky older brother handed the fiery red head to me. She had a slightly swollen eye and a bust lip from her fight. I hated myself for what I did to her but she was not coming quietly. My beta Ignatius jogged up to my side, carrying a girl over his shoulder. "She is a strong fighter. Do you think the alpha will let her be my mate?" growls echoed through the eerily quiet woods, coming from not only myself and Stephan, but Eben, his beta and other warriors nearby.

"I think such talks should be left till we return to our territory." Stephan grit out.

"It is not like there are many other options. These women are pathetic, they didn't even put up a fight and now cower silently and allow us just to take them from their home." What Ignatius said was true. The women he and Jackson, a warrior, were carrying were conscious, yet made no attempts at escape. Father would not be pleased. We had been sent to bring back worthy females for the pack, as many of the women in the pack were too weak or refused to mate with the blood thirsty higher ranking male wolves.

"This is just the first of many raids, I am sure there will be more acceptable females in future raids." I reassured him, holding the red head closer to me, but this one was mine. We got back to our camp and quickly packed up our few belongings before heading back to our pack.

"Zad." Stephan growled after a few hours. "You have had her long enough." I did not care, now she was in my arms, I was not letting her go. "Do I need to make the same threats that you made?" he grit out in anguish.

I stopped and took one last look at her before passing her back to Stephan, my wolf was not happy, whining in my head. Soon, I comforted him. We continued on, using our enhanced speed to make quick progress of our journey. The gates of our territory came into view and we slowed. Upon seeing us, the pack warriors left to guard the pack opened up the gate to allow us in. The streets lined with men, ogling our load, luckily not many eyes landed on the redhead hidden in Stephan's arms as she was mainly hidden, looking at the two other docile females being carried.

When we approached the main pack house, father came out and smiled widely. "Well, it sees that the first raid was fruitful." when my beta and Jackson started to put the women down on their feet fathers face fell. "Why are they conscious? Why aren't they fighting?" he boomed.

Somehow his words woke the red head. Her fist shot up connecting with Stephan's nose causing him to yelp and drop her. Eben and Ignatius leapt forward and tried to grab her but she was too fast, dodging them as they fumbled embarrassingly. One of the other females tried to step forward Jackson, slapped her across the face. "Evelyn." the red head growled, leaping on the warrior and pinning him by the throat. "How dare you touch her?" she growled digging her claws into his throat, her stillness giving me a chance to grab hold of her. "Get off me!" she thrashed as she tried to claw at my face again.

"Calm down." I gritted out, trying to keep hold of her, which didn't work out well as she threw her head back, hitting my nose causing blood to spurt out, before hitting me in the balls with the heel of her foot, causing me to drop her. "Fuck." I grunted in pain. She leapt across the open space to the girl who had been hit and hid her behind her body.

"Back the f**k off." she growled, causing many wolves to take a step back. "You okay Evelyn?"

The wolf behind her nodded and held on to her crying. "What are they going to do to us Kiara?" she whispered as she clung on to the redhead. Kiara, it suited her. Light and dark combined together in this one woman.

Kiara's eyes shifted amongst the warriors surrounding us and landed on my father stood on the stairs." Nothing good I'm guessing. "she said in his direction.

Father let out a small chuckle." Now, now. We have done nothing to you while you have attacked several of my men. "

" I wouldn't say they did nothing! You know killing my pack, knocking me out, kidnapping the three of us. " her green eyes glowed with her fury and her voice became guttural as she listed our crimes." And that piece of s**t hurt Evelyn. " she add, snapping her gaze to Jackson who was still clutching his throat.

Father stepped down and approached Kiara cautiously. "Now child, we had to do what was needed for the prosperity of our pack." she swung for him but he caught her fist and pulled her to him. He grabbed hold of her hair in his other hand and pulled his face up towards him. "And if you continue to fight, I have a two of your friends here that I will willingly and happily kill to gain your submission." her eyes widened as she growled but her body went lax in his arms. "Better." he smirked as he let go of her hair and cupped her jaw. "You are a pretty little thing, aren't you?"

"f**k you." she grunted. Shaking herself loose and going to Evelyn's side.

To my surprise, father just chuckled at her outburst. "Okay bring them inside. I will assess who these females are suitable for."

~Kiara~

The wolf with blood trickling from his nose came towards me, I growled and took Evelyn in my arms and led her towards to pack house where the Lucy, the future beta was being taken. She was shaking uncontrollably and I tried to comfort her the best I could. We walked up the steps and I swallowed hard as I saw the pack insignia on the wall. The black wolf pack. They were known as a pack of viscous fighters, killing over the slighted thing said against them. As far as I knew, our pack had done no such thing though.

We walked further into the large room, at the head were three chairs on a raised platform, obviously one meant for the alpha and the others, I was unsure. When two of my captors stepped forward to sit at his side it was clear that they were for his sons, his heirs. I pulled Evelyn closer to me, stroking her back comforting. One of the warriors grabbed Lucy and brought her forward. "Name?"

"L-Lucy."

The alpha growled. "Do you have no fight in you child?"

"W-women in our pack don't fight."

"She does." he said pointing to me.

Lucy's face contorted in disgust. "She is a freak. No wolf will mate her." I knew her words were true. In our pack I was always the outcast. The pack consisted of black, white and grey wolves, I was the only red wolf. Besides that I was not originally from their pack, but had been found lost in the woods as a child and brought in. When my family could not be found they decided to keep me around to add to their work force. I was not trusted and that showed when the patrols said I should be escorted to the border. I felt my throat tighten at the thought that they were now dead, along with the rest of my pack.

"Is that so?" the alpha smiled. "And what is your standing?"

"I am future beta female." she said with pride, swishing her hair over her shoulder.

"Not here you're not." one of the wolves beside the alpha growled.

"I could not agree more Stephan."

"What?" Lucy gasped.

"We do not allow the weak to lead. And you, my dear, are weak."

"I-I can become stronger." she stammered.

"That I find hard to believe." the other male beside the alpha growled.

"Now, now Zadock. Maybe having a strong warrior as a mate will help her to toughen up."

"Warrior? I should be mated to a beta!" she screeched.

"Eben, Ignatius, either of you want her as your mate?"

"Nope." the two men who tried to grab me outside answered immediately.

"No beta wants you dear. It is a warrior or lower rank. Which would you prefer?"

She sighed and looked around herself. "Warrior it is then."

"Any warrior that wishes to make this wolf their mate step forward." the alpha rang out, his words vibrating around the room. No one moved an inch. The alpha growled and his eyes ran around the room, I followed his gaze and noted a lot of eyes were staring at either me or Evelyn." You two, come forward. "

A warrior tried to grab my arm. "Don't even think about it." I treated with a snarl as I brought myself and Evelyn forward.

"Names?" he asked with a smile.

"You already know our names." I growled, causing Evelyn to shake even more. I rolled my eyes and pulled here closer to me. "Evelyn and Kiara."

"What is your standing?"

"Evelyn?" I asked, unsure of the answer for her.

"Gamma." she whispered.

"Evelyn is a future Gamma female." I announced.

"And you?" the alpha pushed.

"I have no standing." I scoffed. "You already know that from Lucy here." I said tilting my head towards to stern gaze of the she wolf in question.

"What of your family standing?"

"I have no family." I said bored. "I don't see what this has to do with anything."

"Well, Kiara, I am going to choose mates for you and all your friends here." I scoffed and chuckled to myself. "What is so funny?"

I gritted my teeth to still my wolf. "You think we would not notice the black wolf pack crest above your head? You are not known for slaughtering packs to take their females, so I am guessing this is the first time you have done this. You want to judge our females as to who they will be mated to without knowing if they are stronger or weaker than any other females. "

" You are stronger. " the alpha pointed out.

" With no standing. Not exactly what a higher rank wolf wants in a mate. " I laughed a hollow laugh.

" My warriors seem to disagree. " he mused." Maybe even the betas. " he said as I looked to Eben and Ignatius who were staring at me.

"She's mine!" Zedock growled.

"You can't just take her!" Stephan responded as both of the heirs jumped to their feet.

"Enough!" the alpha growled, causing the two brothers to growl at each other once more before returning to their seat. "You see there is a lot of interest in you."

"But maybe not the best suited. You will not know this until you have more females to choose from for your elite." I quickly rebutted.

"Humm." The alpha pondered. "That is true. But none of the warriors will claim these women while you are on the table."

"Then maybe you should wait to set us up with mates until you have a bigger sample to select from." I offered.

The alpha smiled. "I see what you are trying to do."

"Am I wrong though?"

The alpha sighed. "No, you are not."

"And if you want these females to be willing mates, they need time to get to know their suitors. You do not want to have to try and force what looks like it will have to be ten or twenty women into mating, maybe more. As I am guessing that that is why you are doing this in the first place. "

" Oh you are a smart little wolf aren't you. " he smiled." Very well, make them at home. Give them food, clothes and quarters for the time being. "

Evelyn stopped shaking and looked up at me with a small smile." This way. "one of the warriors grunted.

I went to follow Lucy with Evelyn at my side when the alpha stopped me." Not you Kiara. " I stilled for a second, I gave Evelyn a reassuring smile before detaching her from me. As she walked away she looked back, chewing on her nails, before she disappeared out of sight with Lucy. I sighed and turned back to the Alpha. "You would not be lying to us now, would you?"

"About…?"

"Your standing!" Stephan growled.

I gave a sly smile. "You can ask Lucy and Evelyn, in fact ask my alpha. Oh, wait, you killed him." I said as my smile turned to a firm line. "You wanted to know the truth and I gave it to you. Just because the answers do not satisfy your needs, does not make them lies."

"We have three more packs that we will be pledging, you and your fellow wolves will be safe until then." the alpha said with a nod.

"Do I have your word alpha?" I asked loudly.

The alphas face hardened. "Do not play games with me child!"

"I am not playing games. What I do want is reassurance that the females from my pack and the other packs will be safe until you have collected all that you wish for. Do I have your word?"

The alpha got up from his seat and jumped off the platform to come in my face. His tall stature meant that I had to crane my neck to keep my eye contact." Do I have your word that you will not fight my orders whilst you are here? "

" As long as they do not hurt my person, then yes, you have my word, if I have yours."

A smile spread on his face. "You have my word." he growled. I nodded my head and followed where the other females disappeared, hoping I had enough time to try and get us all out of this mess.
