Chapter 17

1503 Words
I stared in disbelief at the scene that unfolded before me. Those two money hungry human beings were already making their moves on my cousins. I couldn't let that happen. I quickly made my way down the path to the boat house, Jake and Seth close behind me. "Rachel can I have a word with you please?" I called out to her. I would confront them the proper way. I wouldn't make a scene but I would give them the opportunity to back down from their devious plans. Rachel released her grip from Matthew and began her wade out of the water. I waited and watched as her tanned bodice appeared out of what had been waist deep water. The sun caused the water droplets to glisten on her skin. "Hey Renesmee." She smiled a dazzling white smile that was almost as good as my fathers. I crossed my arms. "I know your plan." I whispered to her. The smile on her face faltered immediately and was replaced with bitterness and hatred. "This isn't any of your business b***h!" "The hell it is! That is my cousins you two are toiling with." I hissed. "If you don't back down I will spill your dirty little secret Rachel." Her eyes narrowed at me. "Snitch." I sneered at her. "I'd rather be a snitch then a gold digging bimbo." Rachel gasped and then took a step back. "What did you just call me?" "You. Gold. Digging. Bimbo." I said, emphasizing each and every word. Rachel lunged at me and tackled me to the ground. I watched her fist her hand and throw a punch to hit me in the face. Turning my head to the side I missed her punch and then knocked her onto her back. "Don't touch me!" I screamed causing all eyes to fall on us. "Don't you ever touch me again!" I jabbed my finger in her face. Panting she slid away from me before rising to her feet. Her breath was panting as she gazed around at the eyes that were on us entirely. "Hey Ness what's going on?" Matthew said as he joined my side. Just like Rachel his body glistened with the water droplets. I crossed my arms, my foot tapping impatiently, and glared at Rachel. "Yeah Rachel, why don't you tell Matthew what is going on." Rachel looked at me and then at Matthew. "Matty your cousin said I'm not good enough for you. She said you would never get with someone as ugly as me." fake sobs soon filled the air as she covered her face to hide the lack of tears. "Nessie, did you tell her that?" Matthew asked me. By this time everyone in the water was crowded around us to better eavesdrop on the situation. Even Jacob, Seth, Leah and James had joined us. Standing behind them were my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. "You know me better than that Matthew." "Then what happened?" "On the boat I overheard Teresia telling Rachel that Daniels friend Justin was going to try and get at Penelope with the intentions of eventually marrying her for money. Then Rachel told Teresia the same thing except her goal was you." Matthew sucked in a deep breath and then turned to look at Rachel. "You don't believe her over me do you? I'd never do that to someone. Matthew?" Rachel said, her voice desperate. Real tears now formed around the rims of her eyes. I guessed they were from embarassement. "You believe me don't you?" I asked. Matthew looked at me. "Ness I'm sorry-" "Matthew..." I whispered. He held up his hand. "-Let me finish. I'm sorry for even having to hear the story in order to believe you. I know deep down inside you'd never saw anything like that." He looked over at Rachel and shook his head. "Next time you try and put a story on someone to try and cover your ass you better make sure it's believable for the person you're lying on. My cousin would never say anything like that. She doesn't even swear." From the back of the crowd I heard someone clear their voice. It was Carlisle who was moving to the front of the crowd. "Excuse me but I think it's time that you all leave." He said in his gentle authoratic voice. Rachel screamed at the top of her lungs before smacking me across the face. I quickly cupped my hand to my cheek before tears began falling. "Hey you b***h!" Penelope called from behind her. I watched Penelope grab Rachel's hair and yank her head back before punching her in the stomach where the kidney would be. "You ever hurt my cousin again and I'll snap your neck with my bare hands!" She growled before pushing her forward. Rachel stumbled and then fell to the ground. Penelope wrapped her arm around me and held me in her arms. "If she ever touches you again let me know." I watched Carlisle and Esme take the trouble makers to the dock where they got on the boat and left. "That's my girl." Uncle Emmett said as he wrapped his arm around his daughter. "Emmett. Enough!" Rosalie said. She gave Penelope a stern look. My mother and father joined my side and made sure I was okay before they headed inside to start dinner. Once the crowd dispersed of the adults all that was left was Jamie, Prudence, Tyler, Jacob and Seth. Leah trailed off somewhere in the house with James. From Seth's word Charlie was letting them stay the night after much persuasion from Leah. I turned to look at Jamie and Prudence. "Want to come and see my bedroom?" Jamie and Prudence looked at one another before smiling. "Sure." they said simaltenously. This should be a good time. Making new friends. For now, atleast, Prudence seemed harmless. We headed upstairs and I let them into my room. For the next thirty minutes they oohed and ahhed as they went through everything in my bedroom, closet, sleeping area and even bathroom. "You have the most amazing bedroom I have ever seen." Prudence said gleefully. "Imagine all the sleepovers you could have in here." Jamie asked. I scrunched my face up and shook my head. "No, I don't think I'll have many sleepovers. I don't have many female friends." "You have two. Us." Prudence said as she pulled Jamie into a side embrace. "And your cousin Prudence." "Three's a crowd so four should be good enough. Plus you are really nice and pretty, you will be popular in no time. Especially when the news of your home and your parental status." Jamie frowned. "Just don't forget about us small people when you get there." I stuck my toungue out at her jokingly. "Popularity, I've heard all about that and believe me I don't want to be driven into becoming a monster because I'm in the cool crowd. I don't need a billion friends, just a couple close friends would satisfy me." Jamie's frown immeadiately turned into the brightest smile. Prudence's face was identical in expression. "That's good because I worried that you'd turn rotten after meeting my cousin and her goons." Prudence said. "Who is your cousin?" I asked curiously. "That devil of a girl they call Teresia. She is Rachel's best friend and our worst enemy." Prudence said as she glanced sideways at Jamie. "And now mine." I frowned. It was not going to be surprise to me when I returned to school and found out I was now hated by Teresia, Rachel and her followers. I was bound to happen. "I'm glad to be your friend Renesmee, you are a good person." Jamie replied. "I've only ever had Tyler and Prudence as friends, until you came along." She smiled sweetly. "But you are a good person too, how did you not make any more friends?" I asked curiously. Jamie was a loyal, smart, funny, empathetic, beautiful girl. Everyone should naturally be throwing themselves at her feet since true good hearted people are hard to come by these days. Right? "Rachel and Teresia have been torturing me since I was deflowered in middle school. They made fun of me and called me names and made crude comments. Even after I lost my child they just seemed to get crueler and crueler. Life got better the next year though." She smiled. "That was the year we met and became friends." Prudence replied. "How did you two meet?" Prudence's smile faltered and she when white as she looked at Jamie. "Er. One day I was having a hard time and I attempted to end my life. Prudence intercepted and then talked me out of it. Ever since that day we were friends." Jamie admitted I smiled and placed my hand on Jamie's shoulder. "I'm glad you two met because if you didn't I don't think I would have had the pleasure of making friends with you." I looked up at Prudence. "Or you."
