Aria doesn't respond as her eyes only stare at him, trying to assess if he's telling the truth or just trying to cover his lie in frosting.
He looks away, ears pink and face slightly red as his finger clench into a fist on the desk.
Oh... He's being serious. She raises her brows as she watches him loosen his tie with one finger only to tighten it again.
"Oh." She looks to the window instead. "I wasn't aware."
"I intend to keep it hidden, it's not something to be proud of... anyway." He sighs and glances back at her. "So you see, Ms. Aria, it's not you."
"I don't know if I should be relieved or not." She chuckles. "Since I was in your home... You must have felt uncomfortable under your own roof."
"I didn't. So don't think about it." He clenches his fists even tighter. "Back then was fine."
"Any particular reason you might not feel comfortable around women?"
"That's confidential."
"Okay... So... any particular reason you feel uneasy around me?" She points to herself. "Oh... or perhaps that too is confidential."
He stares at her a moment long and drops his gaze to his monitor as his face turns red from the mere memory.
No, not because she's a woman... that's not it. He thinks to himself. It's because I can't face her properly after examining her naked body. I can't tell her that either.
"I'll tell you some other time." He closes his eyes as his brows pinch to the center of his forehead. "In the meantime go home and have some rest. I'll have one of my drivers escort you back safely after you visit a hospital."
"Okay." She nods when she knows she isn't in the position to ask him if she can work until the promised time.
Besides, she can get to spend the entire day home and not worry about her salary by the end of the month.
"Thank you... for the clothes." She smiles as she looks down to her dress. "I really love the dress."
"You're welcome." He nods, almost seeming to smile back even though she can't tell if he really is.
She clears her throat and turns almost robotically, heading towards the door as he watches her before pressing his lips together.
"You'll tell me when you're ready to be picked up for the dinner arrangement." He says and drops his gaze to the floor the second she turns to face him. "Telling me in advance will be helpful."
"Oh..." She pauses.
I thought we weren't going. She stares at him a moment long and glances around the room. What am I even going to wear?
"It doesn't have to be strictly business or fancy." Dean says as he pretends to be reading his documents. "Casual is fine."
"Oh, then in that case, you shouldn't wear anything fancy either." Aria sighs in relief as she says so. "You can wear anything simple... a plain shirt and trousers."
He nods and she grins out before rushing out of the room, feeling relieved that she won't have her head placed on a pitch fork, having herself killed because of embarrassment.
Stepping out of the office like a new woman, her eyes instantly find their way to the receptionist who's staring at her a little too long for comfort.
She straightens her back and clears her throat as she tries to remove the wet baby hair strands sticking to her forehead.
"Are you two dating?" He raises a brow, getting her to widen her eyes and chuckle, shaking her head in denial.
"No. I just got a little sick yesterday." She says as she walks over to his desk, earning a look that says 'you think I'll believe that?'.
"So... He took you home, treated you and then bought you a dress, came in the office to have you 'take a shower'?" He crosses his arms to his chest and presses his lips together. "Do you honestly think that sounds better?"
"Believe me or not. But we're not dating." She shrugs and looks towards the door where she can see him through the glass, only to catch him staring before he looks away in a haste. "I mean... like how can he like a woman like me anyway?"
"Well, he keeps looking at you." He smirks as he stares through the glass and at the boss that he knows isn't really typing anything.
Only pretending to since he's been caught.
"He might have some interest." He shrugs and sighs as he turns to his stack of files. "Either way, maybe it will be good for him to have a girlfriend. His solid attitude is sickening at times. Sometimes feels like talking to a chalk board."
"He doesn't listen?" She asks and he shakes his head in denial.
"Worse, he'll let you talk for so long and even make eye contact with you, but the minute you're done, he'd often ask 'Are you happy you wasted my time?' or 'That doesn't sound like it's a problem I should address or know about'." He smacks the papers on the desk and takes in a sharp breath. "Honestly, it makes sense he's single with zero friends. I'm single of-course, but for him, it's justifiable."
"I always thought he was the quiet type." She chuckles slightly and glances to the elevator as it opens and a few men and woman step out. "He did come off as rude but... He was a little nice."
"Only to you maybe." He rolls his eyes. "He's insensitive. I'd prefer his older brother over him. He may be intimidating but he's more considerate than him."
"I didn't know he had brothers until yesterday." She says in a whisper as she feels embarrassed. "I didn't even know he was that young. I barely see him, just heard and saw posters. Used to think they were excessively edited to make him look younger."
"Where do you work? Geez." He chuckles and leans back into his seat. "Anyway, I should get to work."
"Okay." She nods and leans from the desk, walking away as his eyes follow her, noticing the way the dress grips her body structure so well.
No wonder even the boss is smitten. The receptionist thinks to himself.
"The dress looks good on you, by the way." Mr. Green smiles as Aria glances over her shoulder to him and smiles.
"Thanks." She giggles and turns back to the elevator, getting Mr. Green to smile slightly.
Maybe if the boss won't be so serious I could give it a try. He thinks to himself as he continues to stare up until she enters the elevator and waves towards him, getting him to smile until the doors close. She could be at least six years younger, if not ten, but I'm not that bad looking either-
His face nearly pales up when he instinctively turns his gaze towards Dean's door, only to catch him staring at him from the door with a chilling look.
The emptiness in his eyes... The killer bloodlust and the way his eyes seem to darken almost makes Mr. Green choke on his tongue.
"Bring me the documents Mrs. Winchester was supposed to give me." Even his voice sounds like a threat, getting Mr. Green to stand up instantly and bow.
"Y-Yes sir." He clears his throat as his eyes are on his desk, unable to look up and witness that deadly glare again.
"On the contrary, what do women like as gifts?"
So much for trying not to mislead the rumors.
"Huh?" Mr. Green raises his head to meet Dean's eyes, only to notice him looking away and clenching his jaw, ears red and lips pressed.
So he does like her and won't even try to hide it? Mr. Green nearly chuckles.
"Depends, but if it's Ms. Aria, she'd probably just like a necklace or something she can decorate. simple of-course."
"Okay." Dean nods slowly and turns to step into his office, only to pause and glare at the receptionist. "This is for business, nothing personal. So don't assume things."
With that, he storms into his office.
Yeah, right. Mr. Green rolls his eyes and chuckles.
