Edward was begrudgingly started packing his things when Emma knocked on the door.
“Hey?” He asked as she eyed the clothes scattered on the bed.
“Are you going somewhere?” She asked hesitatingly.
Even though they were good friends, she was shy enough to ask or order him anything. For her they were still the employer and employees.
“No! We are going to NY.” He said passing a small smile.
“We?” she asked surprisingly.
Oh! How she would love to go because she has never being there. The Big Apple was her dream place to visit.
“Yes, We! Get your bags packed and I’ll get Tasha ready. Remember not to bring too much with you because you’ll find every necessary thing available at home…” He paused suddenly feeling a lump on his throat.
Home!
However angry or disappointed he was with that place but one thing was certain—that place was really home.
Home; where his mom had been waiting patiently even when he abandoned her all alone. Home; where he had spent his entire life with his father, Damien, Zac, Phil and with Tasha. He regrets his actions now. It wasn’t easy for him to leave that place but it was hard for him to stay somewhere that would constantly remind and mock of her presence.
He knows it is stupidity to take her back but his friends were right; she really worked hard for her business and others don’t even know what had happened to her. They must be waiting for her and wondering about her abrupt disappearance.
“Ed?” Emma called for his attention, quickly biting her tongue.
She shouldn’t have said that. She had never that before.
She was nervous but more when she saw Edward’s pained look.
He is reminded of how Tasha used to address him by ‘Ed’ all the time. Hopefully, she’ll be back soon.
He gave a small hopeful smile before asking her to be ready again.
Emma was quick to pack her belongings. There wasn’t much and since he said she could buy more in case it wasn’t available at his place which was least possible. She is reminded of the guests waiting in her house.
Smacking her forehead, she goes to the kitchen to serve them all breakfast when she felt someone’s presence behind her. Scared she turned around and came face to face with the man that was really good-looking. Though he didn’t appear to be super-models like Damien and Edward yet he was no less than them.
He smiled and her heart escalated. It was panty-dropping smile. She felt captivated by them and stared at him endlessly. Phil was enjoying the much-needed attention from her. He slowly chuckled breaking her trance.
Aware that she was day dreaming about him and he knows it, she shied away. Phil let out a hearty laugh which was more than appealing to her.
“So, I take it that you’ll be accompanying Lachlan… I mean Edward, right?” He asked giving her a boyish grin.
Making sure that she couldn’t escape his charms, he knows his best part—his smile. He let the smile do the work for him. After all, he was interested in her from the moment he saw her.
She nodded faintly before clearing her throat.
“Th-the breakfast is ready. Please feel help yourself.” She said and hurriedly rushed out of the kitchen leaving a very amused Phil behind.
He kept staring at the door when his shoulders were tapped making him jolt in his place.
Turning to the right, he saw Zac standing with crossed arms and a smug on his face.
He gestured to him—‘what was that’ to which Phil just winked at him.
“Good thing man! So, you finally found your one?” Zac patted his shoulder teasingly.
“How long have you been here?” He asked to which Zac chuckled loudly.
I followed you here only to find you guys loving stares.
Phil mouthed ‘f**k off’ and went out. Zac laughed watching his friend.
On the dining table, Damien still had Tasha clinged to her while Emma got worried. Seeing her worried, Edward asked what was wrong. She fidgeted before darting her eyes from Damien to Tasha and back to the table.
“What is wrong Emma?” Damien asked politely.
He didn’t realize that he addressed her from the first name. For him, she was younger to him so more like a sister while Edward wasn’t pleased at all.
“She isn't Emma for you but Miss. Jones.” He corrected as Damien was astonished to hear it.
Giving it a thought, he ignored Edward and turned his face to Emma. She blushed under his intense gaze. There was something in him that could make any woman nervous.
“Is it okay if I call you as Emma? For me you are like a sister to me that I never had.” Damien said honestly making the others halt.
Shocked by his words, his friends put their spoons and forks back on the cutlery to study him keenly.
Did that really came from him?
They wondered because as far as they remember, he was a player after Rachel broke his heart and then became a stone cold man who never mentioned the need of a sister.
On the other hand, Edward softened. This was the first time he said something that was so right. He really thinks Damien needs a sister back in junior and high school and now. According to him, only a sister can keep him sane. There is a fact that a sister is a best teacher and second mother—both that he needs. Despite Jane being there, it was sad reality that she lived afar and Damien needed someone close enough.
“Y-yea why not! I am-I…” She trailed off as her voice cracked.
Emma was crying. The offer from Damien was absurd for some but not for her. She had been longing for a family from past few years and now god seemed to have been answering her prayers. She always wanted an elder brother to take care of her; to protect her from the world and assure her the unconditional love of a family. Even if she doesn’t have a father or mother; their places could be filled with him being her brother.
She was utterly happy about it. Seeing her cry, Damien felt sad. He quickly walked to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. He patted her head lovingly while cooing her.
“Emma… what is wrong? Did I say something I shouldn’t have? Look I totally get it if you don’t want me to be your brother but—” he was interrupted by her frantic head shaking.
Wiping away her tears she gave him a teary smile.
“I-am just overwhelmed with happiness. I always wanted to have a brother and prayed for one when I was young but that never happened. With dad and mom gone, I still thought—if only I’d have a brother; he wouldn’t have left me alone. I gave up on it and then… you came.” She cried as Damien soothed her back and wiped her tears gently.
Touched, he pulled her into his chest and wrapped his arm around her. Edward was stunned to hear this. He never asked about her family. He felt bad that he never tried to know her. It was late to realize that she never mentioned anything of her family and now he knows why—they aren’t alive.
From the corner of his eyes, his heart was sinking knowing she was with him and he failed to make her comfortable enough to open up. Now, seeing Damien being so gentle and careful with her; he felt a bit satisfied.
He thinks he can forgive Damien if he really has changed. Well, if not for others than maybe for the sake of Emma’s relation. He would never hurt her.
Phil and Zac sat stunned not knowing what to do and how to act. It was unusual but they were glad that things were getting back to normal.
***
It was evening and they were set to go back. Damien, Zac, Tasha and Phil were in one car while Edward and Emma along with their luggage were in another. They stopped at the private helipad and got inside Damien’s private jet. It was so beautiful and spacious even to hold 90 more people. They were excited to go back along with Emma while Edward was still unsure about it.
“Why isn't she awake?” Damien asked worriedly.
The jet took off and Emma felt scared about the flight. However, she waited till it was flying steady and rushed to her before Edward could.
“Tasha… Wake up honey.” She cooed patting her cheek but there came no response.
She tried again but again no answer. They panicked staring at each other.
Phil came rushing to check her pulses and was shocked to find arrhythmic beats. He thought she’s having tachycardia or Cardiac syncope but considering the fact that she was not a normal human; he decided to think of it as normal.
“She’s breathing just fine.” He said watching them frown.
Edward walled to her and give it a try.
“Princess, wake up…” He said but no response.
Just as he was about to do it again with more force; she stirred stretching her legs and arms like a little tigress. They all stared at awe in her beauty as she slowly rubbed her eyes and muttered.
“Good morning Dad.”
They laughed at her. This naughty kid was asleep for more than 9 hours terrifying them and still thinks she has awaken at morning.
Damien felt his chest bottled up with emotions. They were so sucking pure and loved. His girl in his arms waking up this way was darn sexy. He itched to kiss her senselessly but damn! Not going to happen soon.
He pulled her back and caressed her head before placing a open-mouth kiss on her forehead. She snapped her head at him and beamed.
Cupping his cheeks, she pulled her face to his and planted a slight kiss on his lips innocently.
“Good morning Damien.”
Her little angelic voice and face with that sweet innocent kiss made him groan in pleasure. He curbed his desires to claim her tiny lips, he smiled but received death glares from Edward.
“Come here Princess.” Edward called not wanting her to stay longer with him.
She grinned and hopped to him before climbing on his lap and kissing him on the cheek.
He sighed feeling content. Wish that she can stay with him forever but he also knows that no matter what; she belonged to the tainted angel.
