Emma’s POV
Fearing the worst, I opened my mouth to ask but didn’t. Her eyes held so much hope and love as if seeing something that I couldn’t. Being curious, I cupped her cheek and made her look at me.
“Baby, what is happening?” I asked as she stared before sighing.
“Dad is scolding dad and ready to fight.” She looked upset but my mind boggled.
Who’s the dad she was talking about?
“Vincent—the master of Salvos Kingdom.” She answered my unsaid question making me baffled.
I fell back hitting the wall while staring at her. She remembers everything!
Unsure of how to react, I still maintained some distance between us. I know I shouldn’t be around her in case her vampirism genes were kicking in. I should be able to protect myself in order to look out for her.
“Oh!” She yelped scaring me more.
Regardless of no space available, I was crawled back finding safety from the wall.
However, her face wasn’t scary. She appeared to be struggling, writhing in pain or as if, as if she needed something to hold. Her longing gaze that was filled with love and nothing made me straighten up and reach her. She had a pretty smile on her face that I’ve not seen before.
Everything in her screamed of—love? I ain't sure because I have never being in love before. I don’t know how it feels or how a person feels. This only made me stare at her pretty face with amazement.
I was lost in her contorting face that displayed fear, anticipation, pain and worry before her eyes bulged out.
Ignoring the chills creeping up my system, I stared at her face which slowly glowed and a yellow halo appeared around her. The glow turned brighter before it turned orange and the next moment, I was sweating.
“What?” I was pulled back to reality when I saw the hot body in front of me that could compete with sun.
She was flabbergasted and ran outside. I ran after her frightened because that shouldn’t have happened. Hell, nothing should have happened.
Surprisingly (but not so surprisingly), the door opened automatically as she ran to the study where Edward was.
I was stunned when the light grew with every step she took and finally exploded making me shut my eyes. When I opened them, I saw how everything and every object were dripping of water. Snapping my head to the little girl, she was still running now glowing with fire and my heart sunk.
I ran only to stop when a man came running to her abruptly. He was really handsome. His chiseled jaw, straight pointed nose and crystal blue eyes that seemed to drown anyone. His jet black hair messy and those kissable pink lips were really tempting. I blushed at the thought. Sadly, his eyes were full of remorse and it stunned me to see him cry.
He repeatedly kissed her forehead and face saying, “I love you Tasha! I am so sorry baby. Please forgive me!”
Now I was speechless. Trust me it wasn’t pleasant to see a late 20 something hold your five year old and confess his feelings. He wasn’t lying though that was for sure. His eyes reflected that of Tasha—full of love and pain.
I could make out he was Damien. He was her man but the same made me melt and annoy. She writhed and ended up crying which made him frown. She hit him and cried, maybe complaining why he did any of that or came late. Regardless of how hard she was hitting him, he remained unperturbed and watched her with love.
He pulled her back in embrace making me smile.
Maybe this is what happens in love. Like, care, share, togetherness, fight, distance yet finding a way to be together—this was love.
A sudden thought crossed my mind hoping how it would make me feel? Seeing their unsaid love, it gave me pleasant feeling so could it be that it would be more when it was related to me?
“Dad…” She whined running to Edward and cupped his cheeks.
My eyes ready to pop seeing him lay on the floor. The poor child was trying her best to wake him up and I felt the lowest in my life. I thought he was gone, that we had lost him but Tasha wasn’t ready to believe that.
“Dad!” her tears fell directly on his lips and she clinged to his chest.
“Tasha!” I ran to comfort the poor soul and if she continued to squeeze him under her strength; we’ll surely lose him.
“He needs to breathe baby. You’ll hurt him.” I tried to convince but was failing.
Miraculously, Edward stirred licking his lips. Almost instantly, his pale face resumed its color surprising me. He sat straight and embraced Tasha tightly kissing her forehead.
“Princess, hush! I am okay. Thanks to you.” Edward cooed and I was moved.
He told me he loves her but I guess, his love is more like that of a friend or right now; like a father. I felt tears rolling down my cheeks because I craved the same care and love. I missed my dad and it was envy that I felt about her.
Again out of blue, another young boy came to her that was dressed in some freaking eighteenth century warriors with a heavy long sword. It scared me and I leaned closer to Edward and Tasha, ready to snatch her and run.
He knelt down and stared at her face before chuckling that ended into a cry, taking me aback. He placed his sword in her feet as Edward pulled her back.
Tasha’s eyes twinkled watching it and delightedly watched him feeling excited. Her eyes glanced between Gerald and Edward as if seeking for permission.
Gerald bowed his head down in her feet and resumed his earlier position. He glanced back at another man who was jaw-dropping handsome and beautiful. I couldn’t believe what was I seeing or happening around me.
The man was in late 30s or early 40s with smiling emerald eyes, long pointed and sharp nose with a little depression at the tip. Clean shaven face and heart shaped red lips with a smooth glowing skin that looked pale. Well built body and tall dressed in the some double layered button cut in black vest along with a thick velvety cloak on his shoulder. He wore a black shirt underneath it and a skin fitting trouser with long black knee-length boots.
His black long hair tied in a bun while few strands came to the side of his face making him appear sexy. He was beyond any words to explain and I felt heat rushing to my cheeks while staring at the man.
“Welcome back Princess Tasha.” Gerald said enthusiastically.
Snapping my head at her, I saw how she laughed excitedly making me smile with her. She was delighted to touch it and thanked him whole-heartedly. My heart swelled with pride when she done that and now I guess this is how mothers feel.
I saw her staring at the surreal man and jogged up to him. He was waiting patiently like he believed she’ll recognize him. Regardless of how lovely he looked with that smile but I could feel the darkness around him. He was scaring me a bit.
She gave him a toothy grin and he returned a smile that could make you wet. Tugging his pants, she urged him to lower down as he stumbled but quickly composed.
She astonished him by hugging him tightly and I heard him groan putting me to shame. What’s that? I wondered if we really should let her hug him. He sniffed her hair and relaxed but his actions were unusual. I was determined to get her back from him when she called him daddy.
What?
Astonished I watched him again who seemed to be on peak of happiness. There were gasps around as Edward coughed pulling my attention back to him.
She now ran and threw herself into Damien’s arms finding comfort in his arms. He swirled her around in the air before pressing his lips on her forehead.
These things filled with different and unknown emotions were swelling my chest. It was becoming difficult to take it anymore especially when Damien yelled with joy as if winning a trophy.
“She knows… She knows everything!” He repeated like a madman.
I realized how loved and precious she is to everyone here. She really must be a pure soul and I hoped she gets what she couldn’t in her past life.
Things were great until Edward was fuming with anger and tried to get her away from his hold. I know he must be hurt and it was difficult for them to forgive him but seeing Damien’s expression and genuine love; I hope he can do it. If not for his sake than for Tasha.
She has never forgotten him and it was the reason that she muttered his name in her sleep or in the blank state where she was nothing but a phoenix or vampire.
His thoughts had never left her and watching her asleep into his arm peacefully, something moved inside me. I promised, I won’t let her suffer this time.
