Chapter 3
Lucian found ambulance and police squad cars swarming the station in the morning when he arrived there. A police officer stopped him as he directed his car toward the parking lot. Lucian opened the car window.
“What happened?”
“A staff member was found dead in the station.”
Lucian felt his blood drain from his face.
“Was it robbery? H-how did he die?”
The officer watched him closely before he replied. “It’s still under investigation. We’re not allowed to—”
Lucian set the brake free.
“Hey, where do you think you’re going?”
Lucian pushed forward with the cop gripping at the car’s rear-view mirror as if he could stop Lucian.
