Brett took Lacey to a cafe in the suburban part of the city. The beautiful blonde waitress greeted them. Once they were seated, she handed them the menu which made Lacey shoot up a brow at Brett.
“I thought you said just coffee.”
“We have to eat, right?” He smirked. Handsome fucker, she thought. She had to give it to him, though. The idea of eating food didn’t sound so bad. The cafe was small and beautiful with seven round tables in the center and along the wall were the booths. Brett and Lacey quietly looked at their menus. She was nervous to be spending time with a man she had s*x with twice. The wonton things she’s done to him and him to her made her blush. Oh how she would love to do it again.
“Do you know what you want?” He peeked at her from his menu.
He caught her off guard. “Yeah, a coffee with hazelnut creamer, no sugar and the mushroom and kale bowl.”
The waitress came back and took their orders along with the menus. Lacey played with her fingers nervously as Brett observed her. She was truly something special although he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. The moment he saw her at the door of his club, he knew he had to get close to her. He didn’t expect to f**k her that first night, but he doesn’t regret it either. It only made him want her more. When she came back, it totally surprised him. He thought that she was there for some fun and that could’ve been with anyone, but when he saw that she was looking for him, his heart rate quickened. He didn’t think he would see her again, but yet here she was, sitting at a table with him. The waitress returned with their food in which she began to pick at hers.
“Am I making you nervous?” He asked.
She chuckled, “No.” He knew that she lied, but he found himself wanting to tease her a little more.
“Then why aren’t you eating?”
She looked at him with a smirk and he returned one to her. “Okay fine, I’m a little nervous. I mean, imagine having a date with a guy you had s*x with twice. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?”
“According to?” He inquired.
“The rules of dating! I don’t know.” Brett smiled at her which only made her laugh at how silly she was being.
“I guess I’m just nervous because we’ve done some pretty exotic things.” Things that she would love to do again. She was starting to feel hot and aching just thinking about it.
“Ahhhh, yesss, I see. You mean the things that people usually don’t talk about during a date,” he smirked. He trailed a finger down her arm, causing chills to rise on her skin. Lacey sucked in a breath as she tried to fight the heat that was forming between her legs.
“Yes, that,” she hissed. “I want to g-get to know y-you.”
“Oh I want to get to know you too, Lace.” He drew circles in the palm of her hand. She held back the moan that was threatening to escape.
“Really?”
“Yes, really, really get to know you. You’ve shown glimpses of what you want but you haven’t been completely open.”
“I can’t just open up to you without knowing you first,” she added.
“Again, says who? You were just in a relationship right with someone you’ve known since you were a child and you were still betrayed. There aren’t any rules to the dating timeframe.”
“How do I know you aren’t going to betray me or manipulate me?” She asked.
He laced their fingers together. “How do I know that you won’t do the same?”
“Touché,” she smiled.
“All I know is that I would like to see where this,” he waved back and forth between them. “Is going.”
Lacey was scared, but being in this new self discovery meant that she had to step outside of her comfort zone. And Brett definitely makes her uncomfortable, in a good way. She knew she liked him and he liked her. What could go wrong?
Brett had never chased a woman before. But Lacey just wasn’t a woman, she was unique, shy, but wild when she let herself go. He knew she was someone he didn’t want to let go so easily.
“Okay. But you have to work for it. I will not just jump into your arms when you want me too.” He smiled as she set her expectations. Them meeting was already changing her. Her confidence was showing as she made each request clear. He was definitely impressed by her fire.
“I understand but a man has needs as well,” he replied.
“Oh I’m aware, Brett.” She leaned forward and put her cheek on her hand, clearly flirting with him. “So tell me, did I meet your expectations?”
“No..,” he answered and her face fell. “You’ve superseded my expectations. You’re not the typical rich woman. You’re a woman that was trapped in what was expected of you and now you’re setting yourself free. That’s the bravest thing anyone could do.” Lacey leaned over the table to capture his lips. She couldn’t hold back the emotions and the feelings she was beginning to have for this man. Their lips glided across each other and she took him by surprise. Her tongue traced his lips as she silently demanded her entrance. They both forgot they were in the middle of a restaurant until the waitress cleared her throat. They both chuckled, in which the waitress returned an awkward laugh.
“Sorry,” Brett said as he held on to Lacey’s hand.
“It’s okay, really. You guys make a beautiful couple.” The waitress tore a white piece of paper and sat it on the desk. “Here is your bill. When you’re ready to pay, just come up to the counter.”
“Thank you.” Lacey and Brett said in unison.
Brett paid for their food and they left. They made it back to Lacey’s house and when they entered the door. They were damn near ripping each other’s clothes off. Both of them were panting as Lacey pushed him against the wall. He smiled against her lips, loving how aggressive she was. She traced her tongue on his bottom lip demanding entrance. They were like two horny teenagers and she knew didn’t want a relationship based off of s*x. So reluctantly, she pulled back. They both were panting as Brett frowned at her.
“What’s wrong?” What’s wrong? I want to rip your f*****g clothes off! She wanted to scream. Maybe she’s ovulating and that’s why her hormones are extremely high.
“I think we need to take it slow.”
“Ahhh, I see,” he pulled away. She wondered if he was mad.
“Are you mad?” She asked. She needed to know so she could decide if this is right for her.
His face softened. “No, I’m not mad. I understand. I mean we were dating and you just got out of a relationship. I feel pretty stupid for rushing things.”
“You didn’t rush anything, Brett. I just don’t want to get hurt again.”
“Lace, I will never hurt you. Not on purpose anyway. You are an unexpected gift that came into my life. But if we’re going to do this the right way. I need to be honest with you.”
Lacey nerves began to fry. She knew whatever he was about to tell her wasn’t going to be good. He grabbed her hands and led her to the living room to sit on the sofa. He held on to her hands and she smiled at him reassuring him that it was okay to talk.
“Lacey, what I’m about to tell you may have you thinking bad of me, but there are things you don’t understand.”
“Brett, you’re scaring me.” He rubbed the top of her hands with his thumbs.
He inhaled a deep breath as Lacey waited for him to talk.
“Lace, I’m married.”
