Reaper and his Pokémon have been walking for a couple of hours now only stopping to refresh with water and snacks when he comes to a meadow. The vast view he sees is great puddles of water scattered amongst a grassy plain with a plateau that has a Stonehenge of sorts beyond it. The path before it reaches to the right across a bridge to some very tall unkempt grass but he cannot see past anymore than that, except for a glimpse of a magnificent tree in the distance that looks like it holds a house on top of it. He walks over to the plateau, climbs the stairs, and walks over to the stone circle that surrounds a much bigger more defined boulder. Zoroark takes off and scurries around the big boulder a few times curiously looking at the front of it. It circles back around to Reaper, runs around him twice, then stops at his face and bumps its nose on his. Reaper smiles and blinks his eyes as his heart begins to fill with the joy of a new adventure, then he looks into Zoroark’s eyes and notices he can see straight through to the boulder. He sees that there is an opening at the front of the boulder like a doorway. He blinks again and the image is gone, Zoroark pulls away and points towards the very tall grass. Reaper looks over and realizes he can see over the grass now that he is on a taller surface, he notices that the path continues on up and over another bridge where a man with silver hair is standing on the middle of it. The route keeps going up and then to the left of there where his view can see. He turns around and pulls out his pokéballs, "return Alakazam, Typhlosion,” he says, and both Pokémon zip back into their Pokéballs in a flash of red light, “hey, use your illusion to change into something small enough to hide in my hood,” he says gesturing to the hood of the black robe he got at the mall earlier. Zoroark uses its illusion ability to change into a Mew and flies around Reaper’s head, then it snuggles behind his neck into the hood and squeezes in tight with its head poking out slightly to watch everything. He walks back down the plateau, over the bridge, through the taller grass, and over to the second bridge. As he starts to walk on the bridge, the man turns to look at him and holds up his hand gesturing for Reaper to halt. Reaper slows his pace and eventually stops around 10 feet from the man.
The man speaks with a voice that seems to come from within his soul, it is hard and rough, yet elegant and proper, "Hello there trainer, you must not be from this region...I say, that's a curious Pokémon you have with you," Zoroark pops out of the hood and smiles at the man gleefully, “aha! A Mew! That's amazing. I've never seen Mew in person, please hold on just a moment..." he pulls out a book and a quill and starts sketching very quickly but with finesse as his hand gracefully moves across the paper of the medium sized leather bound book, “absolutely gorgeous. A trainer that has such a bond with Pokémon that the legendary Mew has taken a liking to him. Just amazing," he puts the book away and looks up at Reaper, “now down to business, I apologize for not introducing myself. My name is Stone, Steven Stone, I collect unusual and rare rocks, stones, and curious baubles. My father is the head honcho of the Devon Corp. and also I happen to be the champion of this region. Do you see a Pokémon in front of you...?" Reaper looks hard but sees nothing, he shakes his head no. Zoroark jumps up out of the hood and floats over closer to Steven and pokes the air in front of him. The air around Zoroark looks to bend and fall as a Kecleon starts to appear. It's scales folding over and revealing that it was camouflaged, then it looks up at Zoroark. Zoroark smiles at it and holds out its hands in a playful manner. The Kecleon grabs Zoroark’s hands and they start dancing on the bridge spinning round and round. Steven looks surprised and curious, "that was very unexpected," he smiles and lets out a small laugh, "well that went far beyond what I was going to do. I have this device that can see through a Pokémon's camouflage, disguises, and visual tricks. But I see now that you won't be needing it...wait,” Steven says looking through the Devon Scope, and he notices that what he thought was a Mew is actually the Zoroark, “ahaha! Very clever, Zoroark hiding its appearance as a Mew,” he laughs and glances over to Reaper’s bag where he sees a glimmer coming from the bottom corner, “what's that shining in your bag if you don't mind me asking?" He requests, and Reaper looks confused as he takes his bag off and sits it on the bridge. He opens the side pocket, moves some extra knickknacks to the side, and notices a glowing stone. He picks it up out of the bag and holds it up towards the light to get a good look at it. It is more of a crystal that has a dark fuchsia shade to it in the light. The middle is hollowed out in the shape of a perfect circle. He spins it in his hand and the color of the stone changes to a lighter amethyst like color. The shape of the stone is a 7 point star.
He looks up at Steven with a questioning look, "what is this?" He asks.
Steven holds out his hand and walks over to reaper, "may I see it please?" He requests, and Reaper hands the stone to Steven as Zoroark, still disguised as Mew, floats around staring at the stone with great concern. Steven reaches into his vest pocket, pulls out a loupe, and holds the crystal up to the sky, then he looks through the loupe at it and through the hole. Zoroark follows Steven’s movements around the crystal, “hmm...that's curious,” he pulls both of them closer to his right eye and closes his left, then he starts moving around looking at the land around him. He takes the loupe down and stares directly through the hole of the crystal, Zoroark flies around to the back of Steven’s head and tries to look as he does. As his gaze clears over towards Mt. Pyre he notices a cloud above it, “huh?" He murmurs. He pulls the stone away from his eye, and Zoroark flies up to it and looks through it, Steven notices there is nothing above the mountain. Then he waits for Zoroark to get through with its cute analysis and pulls it back to his eye, “this is an odd stone you have here,” he pulls it back down and hands it back to Reaper, "I'm not sure where you got it, but I would take care not lose it, my new friend," he smiles as Reaper puts it in his pocket and picks his bag back up. Zoroark floats over to Reaper’s head and sits down on top of him. Steven smiles while watching Zoroark, "it truly is remarkable how that Pokémon just takes a liking to you the way it does. I'm astonished, impressed, and even jealous. Would you care to have a battle with me...?" He holds his hand out to Reaper in a fist bump manner. Reaper is looking down at the bridge through the wooden planks watching the water move very slowly, the Pokémon under the surface swimming and playing, but carefully so, as to not break the waters surface. Reaper has a very confident smirk run across his face, he slyly reaches into the bottom of his bag where his Pokéballs are and looks up at Steven with a grandiose competitive look in his eyes, then reaches his hand out, fist bumps Steven’s, nods yes to him, takes a few steps back, and throws out his two Pokéballs.
"Go! Alakazam and Typhlosion! Let's show him what we got!" The Pokéballs fly through the air and cast open, the two Pokémon flash out of the balls landing on the bridge with such force that it shakes the entire bridge just enough to make the Kecleon and Steven unbalanced. The Kecleon runs over to the side, dives into the water, and swims away in a timid shock.
Steven brushes his hair back and gives Reaper a look of unshaken confidence, "I hope you're ready for this..." he reaches into his pocket and pulls out two Pokéballs and gently tosses them forward. A monstrous Metagross lands on the ground and roars. The other Pokéball lands on the wooden plank and rolls slightly, “oops!" Steven chuckle with an embarrassing look on his face, he starts scratching the back of his head and crosses his right leg over his left, "that one was an extra I grabbed at the store before I set out just in case I found a rare steel type,” he laughs a little and reaches down to pick the pokéball up. His metagross looks at him with disappointment as it takes its right arm and tings it to the top of its head and shakes its head.
"Meta....gross...." it says with an ashamed tone.
Steven looks at it with a stern look,"I'm sorry Metta! I didn't know I put that one in the same pocket as the rest haha!"
Metagross points at his jacket pocket, "gross gro."
Steven sticks the empty ball back in his pocket, reaches into his jacket pocket, and pulls out a black and yellow ultra ball, “haven't really seen you in a while, I wonder if you're still up for this kind of battle?" He whispers to himself. He clenches it tightly and throws it out, "go! Empoleon!" The ultra ball flies through the air spinning with great speed, it opens up in a blue flash as an amazingly magnificent Empoleon flies out and crashes down on the wooden bridge. Steven smiles and says quietly, "alright you two, do you remember the two ton water brigade? I want you to try it again, I know it's been a while but I think you guys can do it,” Steven lifts his right arm up and touches his cuff link's jewel causing Metagross to become bright, it starts shining so brightly that it is hard to look at. Reaper raises his arm to shield the bright light as his Pokémon does the same. Metagross breaks out of the light and roars with a mighty voice, as the light dies down reaper looks and sees that Metagross has become something much stronger and different looking.
Reaper has a worried look on his face, his voice is shaky, "what just happened?!" He can barely push the words out of his mouth.
Steven smiles and pushes his hair back, "that, my new friend, is Mega Evolution. Certain Pokémon have mega stones that, when their bonds are strong with their trainer, and the trainer has a key Stone like this one," he taps his cuff link, "then you can perform this amazing feat. Okay, down to business! Metta, Torra, lets go! Two ton water brigade!" He points at Reaper’s Pokémon as he shouts.
Empoleon squats down and starts glowing a bright deep neon blue charging up as the trident on its forehead and the blades on its arms start glowing and water starts circling around its fins. Metagross's eyes have a sparkle and start glowing a deep purple as it turns down to face the bridge, its legs begin vibrating violently as it pulls its legs in and starts levitating. Empoleon jumps up, Metagross takes off like a rocket and meets empoleon in the air, then they go full jettison towards the sky, and Metagross turns its arms to start spinning wildly. The water surrounding the two becomes a vortex that trails behind them as they fly through the air, they turn as they reach around two thousand feet up, and start barreling down towards Reaper and his Pokémon. A ball of dark energy forms at metagross's face, and in a split second they both drop from the sky, then in a blink of an eye they split formation, Empoleon crashing into Typhloshion with full force knocking him into the water below. At the same time Metagross lands onto Alakazam with its full body holding the shadow ball. It is so fast and powerful that Alakazam and Typhlosion had but just a moment to react. Both Alakazam and Typhlosion have swirls on their eyes, Reaper has a bewildered look on his face all while being speechless with his jaw laying on the bridge. Steven smiles and touches his key stone, "great job Metta, Torra. I knew you guys could do it. Come back now,” he holds out his Pokéballs and both return in a flash, “it seems you have a lot to learn coming to a new region. You should go through and challenge gyms, get all 8 badges then go for the league here. Your Pokémon may be really strong, but they're only as strong as the trainer is,” he smiles and holds out his hand in curtesy. Reaper shakes his hand, still speechless, nods to him and holds out his Pokéballs to return his Pokémon. Steven puts his hand on Reaper’s shoulder, "don't feel bad kid. You had courage to even accept my challenge, if you continue up this path you will wind up in Fortree City, just keep training and loving your Pokémon and you will be awesome. I believe it,” he pats Reaper’s shoulder a couple of times and holds out a blue Pokéball and a Skarmory flies down, swoops him up, and flies off. Reaper, still astounded, walks across the bridge, through the taller grass, and on through the route and arrives at Fortree City.
