“You don't understand, I need to see my mother right now! I was called to—” Cherry cries out, pleading amidst her tears. “Ma’am! Ma'am, please calm down, the doctors will be done within a short time from now.” says one of the dark-haired nurses, calmly and politely but Cherry is in total disarray. She continues to cry, still pleading for something to be done. “Hey lady, it is either you sit calmly with the others or you get thrown out by the policeman over there... You would not be able to see your dying mother!” the other short brunette haired nurse firmly tells Cherry. Cherry almost loses her cool but remembers the consequences of her action if at all she needs to see her mother. “Lisa, that not fair!” the first nurse tells her partner and turns to Cherry with concern. “Please ma'am, sit over there until the doctors send us information. I'll contact you, I promise. My bad!” “Thanks!” Cherry refrains as tears tolls down her cheeks, she drops on one of the available seats, she buried her face into her palms, the more she tries to stop them, the more it rolls down. She feels uneasy, she assures herself that it isn't going to be that bad of a news. Few minutes on, she hears her name being called by the nice nurse. “Ms. Dawson, you can go ahead. Room 105. Second floor, second room on your left please. My bad!” Cherry is unable to talk, she nods thankfully and makes her way to the elevator. When it spreads open, die hurries out before the others, they get disgusted by her actions but she isn't worried. She skims the hall, the second room on the left, the number tag is boldly written in silver color. She opens the door and first she sees is her mother lying unconciously on the sick bed. She closed the door behind her runs to the side of her mother. She takes her mother’s hand into hers and rests her face on it. The door creaks open as she turns to the door, she sees the doctor. He is of an average height, fair and stern in nature. She walks over to him as they exchange hand shakes. “Doctor Lester, and you must be Cherry Dawson.” “Yes Doc, I am.” “Okay, we have a lot to talk about. And so, I'll see you in my house in ten minutes. I'll send in a nurse shortly before then!” “Okay doctor, thanks.” “No worries, Ms. Dawson. Please, be strong for your mother! It's the best you can do!” he adds giving her a light pat on the shoulder before he leaves the room. She turns to her mother, Shania is looking frail, livid and pale, her lips are arid too. “Mom, could you just open your eyes for a minute?” Cherry cries out sitting next her bed, she then places her head next to get mother. The fear of losing her mother feels imminent to her and still, she is unable to decipher what could be the reason behind her mother’s health. Times back, her mother has suffered a series of health problems but it has never been as critical as it is now. We hears her mother sniffle, she instantly lifts her head and sees her mother, awake. She leaps excitedly but her mother‘s vibrant smile has now died into a faint one. However, Cherry hugs her mother, telling her how worried she has been over her. Shania gives a sad smile, Cherry places a kiss on her mother’s knuckle. “Mom, what happened? What is wrong?” “I'm fine—” “Do you realise that it is the last thing I want to know hear right now?” Cherry’s face drops, she paces back and front, and so she stops. “What is wrong?” “Oh Cherry, quite asking—” “Really, Mom?” Cherry is on the verge of losing her cool because her mother is shoving an important topic away. “Where did you get the money to pay off Pedro? You don't work, do you?” Shania asks “Mom, does it even matter? We are talking about your health and not some shitty work done. Mom, come on!” Cherry says and there is a distraction. A nurse plops her head before entering “Is everything okay in there?” the nurse asks them both and then angles her gaze at the Cherry. “You again, do you want to finally murder your mother? You are supposed to—” Cherry couldn't hold on for too long, the same rude nurse from earlier is here and Cherry is thinking of ways to beat the nurse up after her work hours. “f**k you!” Cherry snarls at the nurse and walks out of the room, in search of the doctor’s office. If it weren't because of the current situation, she could have dealt with the cheeky nurse. ~ Cherry can not digest the words of the doctor, it feels as if the doctor has misdiagnosed her mother. How did she not see this coming? Besides, her mother was always working and so she couldn't figure out that the several complaints made we're a symptom of something as terrible as this. Cherry looks numbed, she is lost for words and the only thing she is doing is entangling and detangling her fingers, scrutinizing the large office that is filled with books on the left, a couch, an artificial skeleton... “Are you with me, Ms. Dawson?” the doctor asks because it seems to him that the pretty derailed is spacing out. “How can she be Cancer positive? It's not true... She's only been diabetic but not this. And what the hell is a Pancreatic Cancer, doctor...” Cherry breaks down in tears, the doctor understands but it is only his job to let her know about the condition of her mother.
