Chapter 9

"I'm sorry, I just got lost in your elegance" Cole apologized, resting back to his seat. Amelia nodded her head, thinking back to the connection she was beginning to have with Adrian. I can't do this, he's Cole Donovan, I'm Aurora Stele, fiancé to Adrian Donovan, CEO NX group, the top 5 companies in the country, no this is wrong.

"I must leave now" Amelia announced, taking her bag

"Wait! Is this because of the kiss? C'mon!" Cole chuckled

"I am engaged to your cousin, we can't do this!"

"Why not?" Cole asked with a surprising chuckle

Amelia shook her head in disappointment and walked out of the building.

Adrian stormed into his office, his expression was filled with rage. His secretary spared a glance and continued with her search for a file in his folder. Adrian ignored her and sank in his chair, deep in thought about what he encountered some minutes ago

"Adrian, it's time, let's go to the hotel, the launch party for NX hotel will be starting soon" Nicholas announced, storming into his office with a tablet in his hands.

"Patricia, get the car ready, we'll leave in 15 minutes"

"Alright sir" his secretary responded and exited the room

"Is Aurora ready? We have to arrive there on time" Adrian rose up from his chair, ignoring Nicholas question

"Don't tell me you're planning to go to this launch party without your finaceé?" Nicholas asked, almost expressing disgust

Adrian scoffed, his hands held on to the door knob, "fianceé? I'd rather cancel the event this minute than walk into that hall with a prostitute"

"Pros…. What? Why will you say that to her?" Nicholas asked, frightened?

"What was that? A coffee date? A kiss on her….."

"Don't tell me we're talking about Aurora here" Nicholas cut in, his voice weighted with worry. Adrian unbolted the door and walked away. "Still, you can't think of attending the event without her" Nicholas tried to plead

"No Nick, we're not playing such games now. You are the one who brought a thief disguised as a psychologist. I won't play the endurance game anymore, I'm Adrian Donovan" He warned and walked away.

As they arrived at the venue, Amelia stood at the door waiting for them, wearing a long gold sequin dress that revealed part of her cleavage and a high heel to blend it into a classic style. "Thank Goodness" she muttered to herself as soon as they arrived.

Nicholas smiled warmly at her, Adrian maintained his dreadful gaze and walked into the hotel. Amelia gave an embarrassing smile to the photographers and scurried to join Adrian. "For media's sake please calm down" Amelia whispered, locking her hands in his arms

"For his sake, leave my grip, Cole will not like this" Adrian removed her hands gently, fixing his gaze on Cole and walked away.

"What's up with him? The damn photographers keeps taking pictures?" Amelia turned to ask, referring to Nicholas

"We'll handle the photographers not to worry. For his attitude, I think he caught you on a coffee date with Cole. Pray this doesn't end your contract" Nicholas smiled gently, patting her arms and walked away

Amelia froze in fear, "what part of the scene did he see, the kiss?" She gasped in fear. "Definitely not, his….." Amelia's thought were halted by the dreadful gaze Adrian gave her from where he stood.

"Welcome everyone to this launch party, the event is about to start. So please have your seat as we begin" A feminine voice announced over the mic. Amelia took a seat next to Adrian, faking a warm smile to the guests surrounding his table.

Halfway into the event, something unexpected happened, the pianist excused himself during Adrian's speech but never got to return. It was time for him to perform while they displayed slides of the hotel in the screen. The guests were already murmuring, Adrian's gaze towards the slim and young lady who stood close to the podium was enough to drain blood out of her, it was quite obvious she was in charge of the event planning. The young lady bowed her head in shame, avoiding Adrian's eye contacts. Nicholas began a search hunt which outcome proved abortive. In the midst of that, Amelia stood up with a bright smile. Her long dress flowing from behind, she walked up to the piano and took a seat. Good thing her dress was a sleeveless dress, the strap around her neck held the dress firmly. Amelia smiled, she was going to make magic. She played the first note and turned to notice the audience expression, beaten by surprise, an applause filled the air after few seconds of silence, She went on to play the notes with confidence.

"How did you know to come here?" Nicholas whispered into Amelia's ear as she stood up from her seat

"Lydia, he sent her a message asking her not to prepare dinner because he'll be attending a launch party. It was hard trying to find my way here" Amelia explained embarrassingly

"You rocked out there! Miss Stele, you were the spotlight in today's event, never knew you play the piano" Nicholas exclaimed as they both walked to the car

"Adrian is aware"

"Aww, already catching up and getting to know each other huh? Talk things out with him, you can't lose this contract" Nicholas stated, using his head to refer to Adrian who leaned on the car waiting for Amelia

"Sure" Amelia nodded and walked up to him

"Didn't know you could play another song" Adrian said as he ignited the car and began to drive

"Yeah I….."

"The company will send you an appreciation fee" Adrian cut in, interrupting Amelia's happy speech

"I don't need that!" Amelia cried out to Adrian who never turned his gaze from the road

"What do you want? Some freedom? You have it"

"Adrian!"

"You have no right to call me that. You must address me with respect" Adrian yelled, bringing the car to a halt

"Mr Adrian Donovan, what you saw earlier today is not what you think it is" Amelia heaved a sigh as she rested back to her seat

Adrian scoffed, "what I think it is? Coffee date, kiss on your hand? Bright smiles, the laughter and pleasure he gave you? I must have been foolish to think the aura from last night was felt mutually" Adrian ignited the car and drove off

"It was!"

"No, Aurora! Last night you were a doctor and I was the patient. Newsflash! I don't want to see you in my room tonight, you disgust me"

"If this is jealousy I think you have no right to feel that way because this is against our contract. If you ever cared, then you would have taken some steps further like Cole did" Amelia retorted

"Jealousy?" Adrian chuckled, "you must really be thinking we're in some sorta bond now" Amelia ignored him, letting her thoughts express her anger as she busied herself by looking outside the car.

"What do you want? What do you like? Less busy men who will take you out on coffee dates and steal your time at every given chance?" Adrian asked as soon as they arrived his house. Amelia ignored him as she packed some of the gifts from the events in the boot

"What pleases you? Money? How much will be enough to buy you? Adrian stood at the driver's door, watching her unpack the gifts.

"No, Mr Adrian, you don't deal with women like they're your employee or subjects" Amelia yelled out and turned to leave

"Then teach me how to deal with women. Teach me how to love women for who they are"

"Wha...what? What are you? One minute the hell is broken loose and you're raging like a bull, another minute you're loyal as a dog. What do you actually take me for? Some I don't give a f**k tissue?" Amelia asked in confusion

"Teach how to love" Amelia calmed down, trying to process the moment

"Teach me how to love Aurora Morgan Stele" He pleaded softly
