“How are you?” Georgia questions her best friend, hearing her disturbed tone.
“I’m fine Georgia.” Laura answers with a weak smile covering her lips.
“Are you sure about this Laura?” Georgia inquires with a sigh to Laura.
“He seems like a good man Georgia.” Laura responds to her best friend honestly.
“We thought that of Harry too, didn’t we? We thought he was God’s sent.” Georgia reminds Laura, taking a sigh to escape her lips.
“I know, but Adrian is…different.” Laura says. “I do not utter that he is perfect or doesn’t have his own flaws, but he didn’t come to me with lies. He stated what he wants with me and I agreed to it because of Fiona.” Laura tells Georgia, recalling her of their last conversation where Georgia let out a handful hearing about her engagement with Adrian.
“Okay, I trust you. Whatever you decide know that I am right behind you. You’re not alone in this Laura and even if your good heart seems to always be taken advantaged of, that’s what makes you, you. Besides, there is usually goodness in what we least expect.” Georgia cheers her friend, taking Laura to chuckle weakly. “What do you want to do concerning Lucien?” Georgia further asks.
Laura goes silent hearing Georgia’s words, as she recalls events of last night which took place between she and Adrian. A smile creeps it’s way to her lips, recalling her dance for the first time in years and the delicacy Adrian maneuvers to teach her.
His hands on her waist, his beautiful dimple of when he smiles or chuckles, his blue eyes and muscular body, all these fantasize Laura, as she finds her cravings for Adrian becoming more particular before their marriage, yet, it is a fact which she knows that she and Adrian can not be anything more than what they are, and the highest they can go is being good friends.
“Adrian pleaded I extend my departure, for us to leave together. He wants to see Lucien to better explain our arrangements.” Laura explains.
“Okay. Are you still at your suite?” Georgia inquires.
“No, I’m at Adrian’s penthouse,” Laura responds, taking Georgia to let out a mischievous chuckle.
“My best friend is living her best life in wealth. I’m proud of you Laura,” Georgia jokes, taking Laura to chuckle out for the first time of the day. “You’re really going to marry a billionaire Laura,” Georgia adds.
“For a year, do not forget that,” Laura intervenes.
“I don’t care if it is for a day,” Georgia speaks as a matter of fact. “Now you get to buy me my designer bag,” Georgia squeals in excitement, taking Laura to chuckle in disbelieve of her best friend.
“I’m not after his money Georgia,” Laura reminds her friend.
“Well I am,” Georgia rolls her eyes from her end.
“Good thing, I’m the one marrying him and not you,” Laura mocks her words to Georgia’s face.
“I knew you were excited to be marrying Adrian!” Georgia screams on top her lungs, taking Laura’s gaze to go wide at her statement.
“You do know that is not the case Georgia,” Laura attempts to defend herself, while the two chuckle together.
And though, Laura may not be marrying Adrian for love, she is willing to see the perks of marrying a billionaire, after all, Adrian is one.

Adrian listens to the number he dials ring in his ear, while waiting for a particular friend of his to pick the call.
“Adrian,” Lucien’s voice come through the phone.
“How are you Lucien?” Adrian acknowledges Lucien.
“My calls are eventually being answered,” Lucien comments, ignoring Adrian’s question, taking Adrian to go silent for a second, while he rests his arms on the balcony, with his gaze on the streets of New York. “What are you doing Adrian? What are you doing?” Lucien questions his friend, taking Adrian to hear the disappointment from his tone. “I do not mind you toying with the ladies you take to your bed, but do not bring Laura into your mess.” Lucien adds.
“My mess?” Adrian inquires with a scoff exiting his lips. “And who says I’m here to toy with Laura?” Adrian further questions Lucien.
“You impose to be engaged with my staff Adrian? Engaged? You of all persons that I know is not ready to have a girlfriend nor settle down anytime soon,” Lucien’s words come blunt, taking Adrian in stun and disappointment, yet he realizes Lucien is only speaking his truth.
“I do understand that my attitude is not the best, and I accept your claims, but I do not intend to toy with Laura. And what we have is an agreement, which I do intend to keep.” Adrian informs Laura. “I intend to marry Laura,” Adrian speaks.
“Why would you want to get married Adrian?” Lucien questions with perplexity. “You can not tell me you love Laura, for I know the man that you are my friend,” Lucien adds.
“You’re right, I do not love Laura, yet, we’re getting married under a contract marriage.” Adrian informs his friend. “Fiona is dying Lucien, and it is in her last wish to see me get married before she passes away,” Adrian adds.
“Accept my deepest condolences, but Laura is not the kind of woman you play with into a contact marriage, which is ending no where.” Lucien speaks.
“And what kind of woman is Laura, Lucien? Tell me because I do not understand why you fear with her being with me. I am definitely not going to hurt her.” Adrian utters, letting his discomfort showcase from his tone.
“Not intentionally but you will. And Laura does not deserve that, but after all she has been through.” Lucien responds.
“I know about her past and I do not intend of repeating such. Our arrangement is just for a year and we call it off, with my promise of giving her whatever it is she desires. In and out of the marriage.” Adrian explains. “Laura is different Lucien…”
“And you believe I do not know so. Such is the reason why I do not want you to bring her into your arrangement. If things go sideways…”
“It won’t.” Adrian intervenes Lucien. “I’m not planning on taking her to my bed, neither is she after my money. So just trust me on this Lucien, I promise I won’t hurt her.” Adrian tells his truth, while Lucien goes silent. “We will be coming in to France tomorrow, and I will be transparent to you as possible for it is Laura’s wish I do so, and ever since the news got out she has only been worried about what you will view of her.” Adrian adds.
“Let me ask you Adrian, you are certain about yourself, but what about Laura?” Lucien questions, taking Adrian to perplexity.
“And what about Laura?” Adrian inquires tentatively.
“What if she falls in love with you.”

The agonizing cough from Fiona fills her room, such that the ECG machine connected to her arm, beeps loudly and nurses fill into Fiona’s room, along with Dr Simon.
Fiona’s cough dies down, as soon as medication is administered to her, leaving her to be in the room with simon, while the nurses leave.
“Fiona,” Simon calls Fiona weakly.
“Am I getting worse Simon?” Fiona inquires weakly to her specialist.
“Unfortunately yes, your heart is deteriorate faster than we’re able to control.” Simon tells Fiona honestly.
“Does that mean my six months will be short lived?” Fiona questions Simon with sadness in her eyes.
“It is possible,” Simon answers. “But we could option for another surgery, and extend your span for a little longer.” He adds.
“No.” Fiona instantly disagrees. “I rejected it the first time, for I know I can not continue to live like this. It is my time Simon, let me live the rest of whatever is left well.” Fiona speaks taking Simon to stare at the aged woman weakly, for if it was in his power, he intends to extend Fiona’s life. “Do me a favor Simon,” Fiona takes her gaze away from Simon, by staring at the blank wall in front of her.
“Of course, whatever it is.” Simon offers willingly, with his attention vivid.
“Do not inform Adrian of my recent diagnosis.”
