Laura wipes the tear drop off her face, and feigning back composure, as her back becomes straighter and head high. “Pardon me, it’s been a while since I have recalled my past.” Laura speaks, whilst Adrian stares not with pity but empathy for her.
“You have nothing to be sorry about Laura, none of these is your fault,” Adrian tells her.
“Unfortunately it is, if Mr Lucien believes I’m about to make yet another mistake.” Laura talks, taking Adrian to have a perplexed gaze. “My grandmother went into surgery just like Fiona did, woefully, she didn’t come out of it alive.” Laura resumes speaking. “I had just broken up with Harry and the only family member which I had died, I was beyond devastated that I wept bitterly in the hospital grounds, i envisaged the world was going against me, not until Lucien found me crying in the hallways.”
“From being broke and broken, Mr Lucien picked me up, gave me a decent job with a pay I could never imagine in my life, treated me as though he didn’t know what had happened to me. So you see Adrian would I not be ungrateful if I do not explain our relationship to him, if he sees this and assumes I am about to make the same mistake again?” Laura questions Adrian, but he remains silent with realization of Laura’s whole actions.
“You wanted to know why I decided to accept your proposal,” Laura tells Adrian, while he passes her a curt nod. “I’m doing this for Fiona, for I wish my grandmother had the opportunity for me to fulfill her last wish for her, so I want to give that to Fiona and which is why I am stubborn to give you the necklace for it is the only thing of value I have left of her.” Laura explicates, taking Adrian to run a hand through his hair deep in discernment.
Now recognizing Laura’s actions and intentions, Adrian is immersed in guilt of the pressure he put on Laura and attitude he acted towards her when they first met. “I am sorry about your grandmother Laura, and I am sorry that you had to go through such treatments from your past, but I can promise you that I am not that kind of man and I am still perplexed as you are regarding how the media found out at an early stage.” Adrian converses with Laura, by speaking the truth in his heart.
“We will leave for France tonight,” Adrian adds, taking Laura’s gaze to snap in a swift second at him.
“Tonight? I presumed you do have an important meeting?” Laura questions Adrian, with stun in her eyes.
“Yes I do, but I can not be selfish…”
“And so can I,” Laura interrupts Adrian in his words. “The deed has already been done and he knows about it. Everyone does, rushing to fix something that has been exposed when we can fix it gradually and well is not the point. Attend your meeting and we leave for France together, for it is within the range of when my leave ends.” Laura reasons.
“Laura…” Adrian contemplates on Laura’s Suggestion.
“If we do go to France tonight, I can tell you will not be your hundred percent for your thoughts will be in New York. Attend your meeting and we leave as soon as possible.” Laura says, as this time a light smile appears on her lips, replacing the bitter gaze she had on earlier.
“Okay fine, I will attend the meeting but on one condition,” Adrian responds having a light smirk on his lips whilst having his gaze on Laura.
“And what is that?” Laura inquires with her brows in furrow.
“Have dinner with me.”
—————————
The dim lights at the dinning table of where Laura and Adrian have their dinner creat an atmosphere for two such that, the two eat peacefully with smiles on their faces, whilst passing each other glances.
Laura’s gaze concentrate on the meal in front of her and Adrian’s exposed arms, due to the folding of his white sleeves. With each cut he makes on his plate, Laura takes notice of every vein flexing and retracting. An indirect gesture she finds calling and attractive.
On the contrary, Adrian’s gaze appreciates the view in front of him, while having to view a glance of Laura’s toned cleavage with the v-cut sleeveless blue dress she wears.
Laura’s gaze on Adrian’s masculine arms is short lived, when Adrian’s phone repeatedly rings and he ignores, taking Laura to pick an interest.
“It might be important and you won’t know if you don’t pick.” Is Laura’s statement to Adrian, taking him to raise his gaze vividly at her.
“No, it’s not. Just a disturbance.” Adrian responds, taking Laura to go silent with a nod as a response. Adrian’s phone rings again, as this time Laura watches him sigh before deciding to pick his call.
“Yes,” Adrian speaks. “The news are true Chelsea.” Laura’s ears stand in perks, listening curiously to Adrian’s words, especially when he pronounces a woman’s name. “We have had this discussion and you know where I stand. Let’s not go back to repeating ourselves.” Adrian says, whereas Laura perks her ears even more wanting to catch a hint of what Chelsea speaks, after all, it is her fiancé she is talking to. “I’m having a dinner with my fiancé right now Chelsea, and this is disturbing.” Laura’s gaze goes wide at Adrian’s bluntness of words, taking her to take a pause in her eating and soon enough, Adrian ends the call.
“My apologies about that,” Adrain rests his hands on the table while staring at Laura.
“I understand. There are still loos ends to tie.” Laura says, as with her statement comes a light chuckle from Adrain.
“You do know how to put your words, don’t you Mrs Alimson,” Laura’s gaze halts with Adrian’s, as they stay in stun of Adrian’s addressing to her, one which causes a pang in her heart and also excitement at the same time.
How good it does sound to hear such a simple word from him, Laura envisages.
Laura should not be misplaced, for she is the number one fan when it comes to drooling over her surname, yet, she finds Adrian’s new words beating her previous thoughts.
“I guess you can say so,” Laura’s gaze still with Adrian as she speaks.
“Do you dance Laura?” Adrian inquires from Laura, as the two finish their meal.
“Well, I used to but not anymore.” Laura answers honestly.
“What happened?” Adrian questions.
“The time I had in my hands back then, I do not have it now, which means some extracurricular had to go on a halt.” Laura explains.
“Well thankfully, we do have one today.” Adrian responds, taking Laura to furrow her gaze, while watching him get up from his seat, as in minutes, a soft piano music soothes the atmosphere of the room and Adrain begins walking towards her.
“What are you doing?” Laura questions with a smirk on her lips, when Adrian reaches her.
“May I?” Adrian stretches a hand to Laura, whereas all she can do is stare in amusement with a light chuckle escaping her lips.
“I’m rusty Adrian, I haven’t danced in years.” Laura says with a soft gaze.
“But I’m not,” Adrian persists with a smile on his lips, and even if Laura chooses to decline, seeing Adrian stretch out a hand and a stare as such to her, she places her hand gradually into his.
With the help of Adrian, he raises Laura up, taking her to stand an inch oppositely from him, with his hand still entangled with hers. With the music filling the air of the room, Adrian’s other hand, slowly rise to rest of Laura’s waist, while he pulls her even closer to him.
“Relax yourself Laura, you’re tense.” Adrian’s words come as a whisper to Laura, whereas Laura finds her heart beginning to beat faster than she can count again, such that she fears Adrian might hear, yet, she do as she is told.
Slowly, the two move to the theme of the Music, with each gaze on each other. At this point, if Laura is to make a drawing of Adrian, she can pull it off effortlessly. As they move and dance, so does Laura’s tension decreases, while she lets her body feel the excitement freely, with her hands gripping Adrain’s body firmly.
“Now you’ll twirl,” Adrian directs with his words first, preceding his hand on Laura’s waits drops, to enable Laura twirl perfectly as a loud chuckle of excitement escapes her lips, taking Adrian to find such an act, serene.
In an instant, Adrian pulls back Laura to him, causing her to jam her chest with his, and her chuckle dies, while she stares back at him with parted lips and locked gaze, whereas Instead of Adrian’s hand to rest on Laura’s waist, he caresses them gently, with his gaze locking on a woman he seems to be intrigued with every single day.
“Who are you Laura Eduoard?”
