CHELSIE
The ride home was enjoyable, magaan at pakiramdam niya ay mas konektado na ang pag-uusap nila ni Matt. It feels like the barrier between them was breaking, na siya rin ay mas nagiging kumportable sa pag open-up at pagkukuwento dito ng mga detalye sa buhay niya. She even told him about her pet parrot.
She truly missed her family, at masaya lahat na makita siya sa bungad ng bahay. Her kuya Limuel was nosy, marami itong tanong, but she handled him calmly, sinabi niyang wala itong dapat ipag-alala.
She can understand where Limuel is coming from, he was just protecting her.
Matt has a first love which seems like he is smitten for until now, and of course, never in his lifetime na dadapuan siya ng tingin ni Matt. She was just happy na parang kaibigan na niya ito, that he was trusting her more. Of course, so that she can do her job more well.
Tama na nga itong pag-iisip niya, and she spent her night in peaceful slumber.
The next day, they had a relaxing family day.
Medyo na-miss niya rin ang ingay sa lugar nila, but she was still grateful and also miss the serene beach house of Matt, nature has a way of relaxing and healing the mind.
She didn’t know why, but she kinda missed him too.
She was quite excited to see him.
Time flew so fast that Matt was already outside their gate again. She appreciated that he took his time to say hello to their parents, nag hello ito nangamusta ng saglit sa gate.
“How did your weekend go?” Matt asked. He seemed upbeat and smiled at her immediately ng mapa-upo siya sa tabi nito.
“Before we go to the beach house again, I think it’s nice if we pass by to our family home here, nearby,” he uttered.
“Really?” she sounded excited.
Napatango-tango ang katabi. “Doon na rin tayo magla-lunch tsaka snacks, my mom love guests,” he said.
She gave maybe a quite alarming look kaya’t inisplikar nito na mabait naman ang ina nito. Na wala siyang dapat ipag-alala. Why does she feel nervous about meeting his mom?
“Does she know? That I’m writing your book?” she asked. She wanted to know as to what extent can she pry on with the woman she will meet.
“Nah, yeah I think you can. Just tell her you’re writing with a publication project with me.”
Napatango-tango siya. She’s excited with meeting Mrs. Vallejo. If she can remember, she already saw her face somewhere before in a Lifestyle magazine. Na feature ang ginang, and why not? She exudes so much elegance, beauty and grace, and she has a delectable flavor with interior design.
She kinda looked strict though, in the photo, that’s where her initial nervousness came from. Ngunit ng makaapak siya sa veranda ng mansion nila Matt, she was welcomed in the entrance hall by a beautiful aging lady with a warm smile.
So this must be Hillary Vallejo. She was immaculately elegant, and has a regal aura and beauty into her. She seems very delighted to see her.
“Matt told me that his coming, with a business person with him, very glad to meet you, hija,” Hillary leaned in for a quick beso at kahit awkward man ay napapihit na rin siya.
The woman’s hands enveloped her, tugging her toward the bigger main hall. She cant help but gasp as to how big the entrance hall was, with the huge stairs in marble, the chandelier hanging the hall. It feels like enclosed in a French painting. It was beautiful and the vases were adorned with fresh imported flowers.
She can only secretly gnaw and hide how impressed she was by the grandeur infront of her, and she felt all so suddenly small.
A maid ushered them to what seems like a guest waiting area, they were served refreshments and tea, and biscuits.
She was left there sitting, sipping tea timidly as the wide-eyed Mrs. Hillary stared at her like she was a precious gem.
“First time nagdala ng anak ko ng dalaga, that’s why I’m excited,” Hillary made a little giggle.
“Oh,” napailing siya ng konti, “sorry pero boss ko po si Matt, wala pong namamagitan sa amin. I was just hired for this book deal.”
“It’s okay, wala ka pa namang boyfriend diba? Binata rin itong anak ko.”
She didn’t know how to react to that, so she made just a little smile at that beautiful old lady. She felt that she was nice, and motherly. She talks softly too, napaka-sosyal pero mabait. Her heart calmed a little at the thought of this woman being so motherly and kind.
“So tell me, darling, what is this project all about?” agad na pahabol ni Hillary sa kaniya.
Kailangan ba niyang sabihin ditto ang lahat? So she just uttered what Matt has told her, “it’s a publication project po, actually, I’m here to observe about his life.”
“Publication? You mean, an article?”
She cleared her throat. “A book po, a book about his life.”
Matt’s mothers eyes squinted, focusing more at her. “Interesting. He’s writing a book about his life? Why?”
“It’s his legacy, I’m helping him with that,” she smiled. She was finding an opportunity upang maisingit niya ang mga iilang katanungan niya sa isip. She wanted to at least know what his mom thinks about his childhood, and some details. Anyway, she already got the green signal from Matt.
“If okay lang sa inyo, puwede ko po ba kayong tanungin about Matt?”
“Well, of course, you can,” the old lady brimmed with a smile. “We can also sit by the garden if you want, mas presko ang hangin doon.”
She kindly obliged. She was then found strolling in the garden area.
“It’s so beautiful po,” she was in awe, especially with the more fresh plants and flowers carefully decorated in style along the path. There were trees carefully situated to provide enough shade for strolling. Napaka relaxing ng ambiance.
“I love gardening, this is my hobby with my husband before, mahilig rin iyon sa mga puno, tanim at bulaklak.”
“I’m sorry,” himig niya.
“Oh no, hija, I really like talking about my late husband. Yes, I miss him, but he always has a special place in my heart.”
“It must be tough po, noong nangyari yon, lalo kay Matt dahil siya ang pinaka-kuya?”
“It really is, but Matt is one tough guy, and a wonderful son too. That’s why hindi ko maiwasan na mag-alala sa kaniya. Look at him, he hasn’t got anyone to take care of him. He should settle soon I guess.” Napatango-tango na rin siya. But Maybe Matt is waiting for his first love to come back?
