Yong Jie went with Yao Xue early in the morning to greet Yong Sect leader Qiang and Madame Meixiu of his sudden visit. Madame Meixiu was glad to see Yong Jie went home safe and was delighted to see Yao Xue visiting again.
Sect leader Qiang arranged a small banquet to welcome Yao Xue that Yao Xue couldn't refuse. After that grandeur lunch, Yong Jie poked Yong Yi's side and he nodded to Yong Xian who was looking gloomy the whole morning and now he isolated himself to the library.
"What happened to him?" Yong Jie asked.
Yong Yi chuckled. "Elder brother had a small fight with Zi Xin yesterday. Zi Xin was suppose to eat with us in the banquet but Zi Xin didn't show up."
Yong Xian and Zi Xin, who were once enemies, got closer after that drinking incident a year ago. Yong Xian started teaching Zi Xin martial arts and they enjoy each other company but sometimes they still couldn't help but act the same way before they were close. They would start bickering over small things like lovers but they always make up then followed by another fight.
Yong Jie wasn't worried about the two since they have been doing that cycle for a year. Can't they just marry already?
Yong Jie just chuckled as he shook his head.
Yong Jie decided to take the day as a rest day from training since he just came back from a mission. He went out of the palace together with Yong Yi, they roamed around the market and looking for the two kids but Yong Jie couldn't find the kids in their usual spot.
A fruit seller gave them pears upon seeing the two young masters in Yong Sect walking around the market and they gratefully thanked the seller as they proceed to walked around. Yong Jie chuckled as he looked at the yellow-tan pear in his hand and remembered the first day he got reincarnated in this world. The pear that he stole that tastes like s**t.
"What are you laughing about?" Yong Yi asked as he took a bite of his share of pear.
"Is it good?" Yong Jie asked and Yong Yi nodded, taking another bite. He got traumatized by that experience.
Yong Jie was convinced that it was tasty so he took a bite. They were enjoying their fruits when they heard the villagers talking about a woman jumping down the river, committing suicide near that market. That gossip suddenly exploded in the market.
"It wasn't a woman but a man!" A villager corrected.
"Wasn't he from Zi household?"
"It is YangGuang!" Another woman cried who just arrived.
Yong Jie and Yong Yi looked at each other, their hearts beating fast.
"Zi Xin." Yong Yi said and they both ran to the river.
No other man who was called YangGuang in the city but only Zi Xin but Yong Jie wished that it wasn't him. Zi Xin would never try to commit suicide and the only reason Yong Jie could think about was Zi Xin's fight with his Elder brother Xian.
People were gathered around the river near the bridge. Yong Jie slipped inside the crowd of people and saw a man rescuing someone from the river and placed the drowned man inside his boat. The man was dressed in yellow-greenish robes.
"Zi Xin!" Yong Jie called as he ran towards the edge of the pavement and jumped in the river, swimming to the boat.
Yong Jie climbed up the boat and laid Zi Xin's body properly as he checks for any signs of life. The body was cold but it was because of the cold water.
"He isn't breathing." Yong Jie panicked and looked at Zi Xin's pale face.
He needed to do it.
Tilting Zi Xin's chin to open his airways, Yong Jie clipped Zi Xin's nose with his fingers and performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation that he learned in his health subject from his original world. He was glad their prof made a practicum about it. Yong Jie sealed their mouths and begun breathing out for Zi Xin, watching for his chest to move up as he released air.
The crowd was surprised and they weren't happy about it. Even Yong Yi couldn't say anything as he watched Yong Jie kissing Zi Xin when he was supposed to be rescuing the man.
Yong Jie wanted to do chest compressions but he wasn't sure how to properly do it and was afraid he would end up really killing Zi Xin. Just when Yong Jie threw away all his uncertainties and prepared to perform compressions, Zi Xin choked and Yong Jie turned him to his side allowing him to throw the waters that were choking him.
All the people were happy and relieved to see Zi Xin alive. Zi Xin was in a daze for a few seconds before he gave Yong Jie a surprised expression.
"Xiao Xin." Yong Jie softly said as he tucked Zi Xin hairs that were sticking in his face.
"Jie-er, s-something pulled me in the river." Zi Xin said with tears warming his eyes and Yong Jie pulled him in a hug.
"Hush. You're okay now. Let's talk properly about this after we get out of the river." He was relieved to see Zi Xin alive again.
Yong Jie was surprised to see Yao Xue and Yong Xian in the crowd who was standing beside Yong Yi and they all saw how Yong Jie kissed the drowning Zi Xin.
Yong Xian's gaze was burning a hole in his face but he could see worry and relief in his eyes as the man who rescued Zi Xin rowed the boat back to the edge of the pavement.
Yong Xian held Zi Xin, helping him stepped out of the rocking boat to the ground and Yong Jie looked at Yao Xue who was also looking at him.
"Aren't you going to help and pull me also?" Yong Jie asked.
"You're capable." Yao Xue said and Yong Yi laughed silently at Yong Jie's attempt.
"So, cold." Yong Jie pouted as he stepped out of the boat.
The city of Zhenqi was filled with gossip about what happened that day, passing one mouth to another that the story became twisted saying Yong Jie was secretly in love with Zi Xin, kissing the man in his last breath and a miracle happened like those f*****g fairy tales! A kiss for a life.
So freaking ×isney.
