Chapter 5

Updated Kodi’s P.O.V   I really didn’t want to be here tonight, but I was bored at home and there was nothing else for me to do, so I decided to come and watch the fight. I was walking around trying to catch a glimpse of who was winning, when I started to smell this really intoxicating scent of lemons and vanilla. The two combined together had my mouth watering and my mind wondering, but where was it coming from? I sniffed the air and followed the scent through the crowd and that’s when I saw her. The most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on, but she had her head buried in another man's arm and was clinging to him. My heart sunk to the bottom of my chest when I saw that my mate already had a….wait, hold on, I thought, getting closer. My spirits, hope and heart lifted when I realised that I knew the man she was clinging to. It was Alpha Brandon and I knew that it was his mate fighting tonight, but wait, that means….What the hell? Good Goddess, that must mean that she is his daughter. I stood there watching her for the longest time and she looked like she was having a blast as she watched her mother fight. I wanted nothing more than to take her in my arms and mark her right there and then, but something tells me that she hasn’t had her first shift yet otherwise she would have sensed me, she would have smelled my scent and come looking for me as I did her. The way she smiled and laughed, the way she silently cheered her mom on and winced when the opponent got a hit in, it all made me want her even more. s**t, I’m going to have to leave before I go over there, grab her and claim her as mine in front of everyone, including her father. How the hell was I going to do this? I would definitely have to call Alpha Brandon tomorrow, maybe even leave it a few days, that's if I can stay away that long. I had to keep reminding myself that she hadn’t shifted yet, so she wouldn’t feel the bond yet and that was a minor problem for now because it meant that I would have to wait until she did. I walked out of there as fast as I could, almost sprinting at one point, but then I stopped at the door and took one last look at her. She was breathtaking and she was all mine. I managed to pull myself away and made it outside to the parking lot. I quickly got in my car, started the engine and began the two hour drive back home.   Leah’s P.O.V   I started to get this uneasy feeling, like I was being watched, but when I turned around to see who it was, all I saw was the arm of someone who was trying to leave in a hurry. It made me suspicious, but I quickly shrugged it off and turned back to the ring to carry on watching mom kick ass. Mom was beating the ever loving s**t out of Pamela, but then she kneed mom in the stomach and made her fall to the ground. A few seconds went by and mom was just about to get back up when Pamela came over and kneed her in the face, breaking her nose, but then she laughed at her. Mom quickly got up and put her nose back in place, making the same crunching sound as before, but then Pamela came back over and kicked mom's legs from under her, making her fall to the ground again, but this time she landed on her back. Pamela jumped on top of mom, making me gasp, but then mom got her by wrapping her legs around her and pulling her back, squeezing her tightly as she punched her in the head repeatedly. Mom grabbed Pam's right arm pulling it all the way back and then took her fingers, breaking them one by one.    “AHHHH!!!! AHHHHH” Pamela screamed out and she was so loud that her screams could be heard over the noise of the crowd right at the very back of the room. Mom pushed down on Pamela’s arm, using enough pressure that you heard the snap as it broke and then mom threw her off her. Pam swung her leg kicking mom in the hip and caused mom to stumble back a bit, while pam quickly got up and took advantage, kicking mom once more, but she was an i***t for doing this because mom grabbed her leg mid air. Pamela was hopping around on one foot, which was quite funny to see and then mom pulled her leg all the way up and swung it back down, making Pamela fall flat on her face. Serves the b***h right. Mom walked over and picked her head up, then kneed her right in the face, knocking her out. The man from before, who gave mom the key and looked like he was on steroids, came into the ring.   “And the winner is Carla Rufus.” The guy announced, raising mom's arm in the air. Almost everyone cheered and hollered for mom, but there were the odd few that booed, obviously wanting Pamela to win. Dad looked around and quickly grabbed my hand, hurrying over to mom and grabbing her too, hurrying us out of the ring and straight back into mom's locker room. I had no idea what was going on, but it was worrying to see how mom and dad were rushing around, like something bad was going to happen or something. Dad rushed out of the locker room, leaving me and mom alone.   “Leah, can you throw everything in my bag while I get changed, don’t bother folding it just throw it in as I throw it to you.” Mom said and I quickly nodded. I don’t know why they were rushing around, but now didn’t seem like the best time to ask either. Mom changed out of her fighting gear and into her normal clothes, while I put everything away in her bag and then dad came back in with an envelope, which I’m assuming was mom’s winnings.   “Ready to go?” Dad asked and we both nodded. Mom and dad took their positions either side of me again as we left the locker room and went straight to the exit. We got into the SUV and dad quickly sped off, which only made me even more concerned as to what was wrong.   “Are you okay?” Mom asked, looking back at me.   “Yeah, I’m okay, but why did we leave that fast?” I asked, thinking now was the right time.   “When the crowd boo like that it can turn nasty really fast and we have to quickly leave because they might try to attack us. How did you like the fight? Well, what I’m really trying to ask is how are you feeling about the whole fighting experience?” Mom asked, making me start laughing at all the questions she was shooting at me.   “Mom, honestly, I’m really really okay. You beat that woman’s ass and I am so proud of you, but that's not my thing. I don’t want to be a fighter, I actually don’t know what I want to do, but I do know I don’t want to be a fighter.” I said and I thought that they might be a little disappointed, but then dad and mom looked at each other smiling.   “Good.” They both said together, shocking me slightly. Huh, maybe they didn’t want me to follow in mom’s footsteps.   Brandon’s P.O.V   When we finally got home Leah was fast asleep, so I had to carry her up to her room. She was exhausted and didn’t wake up once as I placed her on her bed and just pulled the covers over her. I kissed her forehead and turned the light off, shutting the door behind me. I stood outside in the hallway for a few minutes and breathed a sigh of relief. I was so relieved and happy when she said that she didn’t want to be a fighter. I know she might change her mind one day, but at least for now she had said no and I was happy about that. I was always on edge when Carla fought and to have that dread with my daughter as well would definitely put me over the edge. I shook my head, grateful for what had happened and walked down the hallway to mine and Carla’s bedroom. I walked in and saw the light on in the bathroom, with the door slightly open and I knew that Carla was already soaking in the bath.    “You need help?” I asked, smiling as I walked in.    “You want to wash my back?” Carla asked, smiling at me and I wiggled my eyebrows at her, making her laugh.   “Sure, I’ll wash whatever you want me to.” I replied as she shook her head and threw the wash cloth at me.
