Chapter 19

Leah’s P.O.V

  It had been a long few days, but I had gotten to know the pack and they had started to warm up to me as well, which was great. I helped around the house and even helped train a few new fighters, showing them some new moves. The whole time I have been here Kodi has never let me out of his sight and has shown me all the paperwork and other things he normally does and what I would also be doing. I was so happy when he said we were a team and he wanted me to learn as much as I could because it would mean we were in a proper partnership and I wouldn’t just be looking after the she-wolves, pups and events, like all the other Luna’s do, well all of them except my mom. Kodi and I had gone over a few things and I was just walking out of his, well, our office when my cell started ringing. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the screen to see it was mom, which instantly made me worry a little.

  “Hey mom, how’s everything going? Are you and dad alright?” I asked, but then I heard as she sighed and that made my stomach tighten in worry.

  “Hi honey, I got you on loud speaker so your dad can talk to you too. Is Kodi around?” Mom asked, not answering my question.

  “Actually I just left his office, do you need him?” I asked, grabbing the door handle.

  “Yeah honey, take him the phone but put it on speaker, okay.” Mom replied and I turned the door knob, going back inside the office. Kodi gave me a confused look as I handed him the phone and placed it on speaker so we could both hear what was going on. 

  “Go ahead, he has the phone.” I said, shrugging at Kodi when he gave me a questioning look.

  “Alpha Kodi, hey man, I know you want Leah to be there with you and you have my blessing, but I think we should understand each other first. We have gotten rid of a threat two days ago, but there are still two more out there, so I just wanted to make sure you have enough guards around the territory and that if you need any help let us know, okay?” Dad said, but he sounded a little off.

  “Yes, of course. I promise I will keep her safe, no matter what.” Kodi replied, making me smile.

  “Just be careful, Alpha Kodi and Leah, I’ll see you in a few days, okay honey. I have a fight coming up and it's being held here, but I want you to stay there, just in case, okay. We love you baby girl and we miss you.” Mom said and I knew she was trying to cover up something. I listened to them both and I knew they were worried, as danger is always around us, not just because we’re werewolves, but also because we are in the mafia. There's always someone trying to take over our packs, take our members or just cause trouble and it's really annoying, but I also knew that the only way to keep my parents safe and stop them from being distracted was to do as they said, even though I was worried to death about them.

  “Alright mom, dad,m just be safe, okay. Call me as soon as the fight is over, so that I know you're okay and then you can also tell me all about it. Just be careful, like you always tell me and we’ll be together again soon. I love you both.” I replied, trying to hold back my tears.

  “We love you too.” Mom and dad said together and then ended the call. Kodi placed my phone on his desk and then stood up, coming over to me. I stood there shaking a little as he wrapped his arms around me and held me close, trying to calm and soothe me.

  “Are you okay?” Kodi asked, kissing the top of my head.

  “Yeah, I’m okay, just worried about them. We still have threats out there and my mom is still fighting, which will make my dad a little more stressed out, but she loves it and he knows it, so how could she not fight. Come on, you hungry? I’ll go cook you something, how about grilled chicken salad?” I asked and he nodded, leading us out of his office and to the kitchen. I know they are strong and can look after themselves, but I hope they were being careful, like they always tell me to be.

  Alpha Alec’s P.O.V

  I finally freaking made it. It took me a while, but I finally got here and from the connection I felt with her being a clan member I knew that she was already here. I should have been here a week after I left, but it seemed like one thing after another was going wrong and if I didn’t know any better I could have sworn that someone had put a curse on me or used some sort of magic on me because it wasn’t meant to take this long to get here. From the smell in the air each time something went wrong I could have sworn there was an elf or a she-elf nearby, but why would an elf want to mess with me? The gates to Alpha Brandon’s territory were up ahead, but I needed to call him first to let him know I was here. I pulled out my cell and dialled his number, then waited for him to answer before approaching the gates. All I wanted and needed was to see Gabi, to let her know that we were mates and that she would be safe with me. She will be loved and cherished, but how was I going to convince her of that after all the damage her last mate, Eric had done to her?

  Alpha Brandon’s P.O.V

  I was now relaxing in my living room, smoking a cigar after a very long day. I had made so many phone calls and answered so many emails that I felt like I was going cross eyed, but then my phone started ringing, making me sigh.

  “What now? Can’t I relax just a little?” I asked myself, shaking my head as I took my phone out.

  “What?” I asked, answering my phone and then I heard a chuckle on the other end and I knew that it was Alec.

  “Hey man, how's it going?” I asked, chuckling a little at my abrupt response.

  “It's going good, I have just arrived at the border of your territory, can you let the guard know to open the gate?” Alec asked, making me smack my forehead with my hand. s**t, I had completely forgotten he was coming.

  “Yeah, give me a few. I’ll mind-link him and he'll open the gate.” I replied, shaking my head at my own forgetfulness.

  “Alright, cool, I’ll be there in a few minutes.” Alec said, ending the call. I mind-linked the guard first and let him know to open the gates, but the more I thought about it the more anxious I got about what was going to happen. There was no way I was going to or could deal with this on my own, Carla would have to be there. After all, Gabi was her friend and she would need her there for emotional support as well. 

  “Carla, Alpha Alec is here.” I said, mind-linking her and then ended the link. A few minutes later Carla came to my office and gave me a knowing look as I took her hand and we walked outside, waiting for him to drive up.

  Carla’s P.O.V

  Brandon and I were waiting outside when Alpha Alec pulled up and parked his car. He got out and walked over to us, making me pleasantly surprised at how he looked. This man was at least 6.2 with long dark hair which was tied back in a ponytail and he also had silver eyes that honestly looked nice on a vampire. Just from looking at him anyone could tell that he was muscular, powerful and an Alpha. He stood tall with his head held high, just like Brandon was and then he held his hand out to us. Brandon shook his hand first and then he shook my hand.

  “Alpha Alec, you must be tired from your long journey, would you like to freshen up and rest before you see Gabi?” I asked, smiling but he shook his head no.

  “Thank you, Luna Carla, but I honestly want to go and see her now. I’ve driven all this way and all I want is to talk to her, to let her know that everything will be okay and that I am nothing like Eric.” Alpha Alec said and I nodded.

  “I understand, Alpha Alec, please follow me and I’ll show you the way.” I said and he nodded. We walked to Gabi’s cottage and then stopped a little way away from it.

  “She is right in there, but be easy on her, she has been through a lot and please know that if you hurt or upset her you will have me to deal with. I don’t care if you are an Alpha.” I said, making the colour drain a little from Alpha Alec’s already pale skin. 

  Alpha Alec’s P.O.V

  Here she was, this little Luna, threatening me, an Alpha and yet I believed every word she had said. I knew that she would definitely keep her word if I hurt Gabi and it made me thankful that Gabi had someone like Luna Carla looking out for her, but I would never hurt her.

  “Don’t worry, I promise I will never hurt her and I will go easy on her. As long as she’s okay, all will be well.” I replied, smiling at her. She nodded and I turned, walking over to the cottage. As soon as I got to the front door I smelled her beautiful scent of peaches and berries, making my mouth water and my heart melt. I could spend the rest of my life smelling that scent, I thought as I walked up the steps and took a deep breath to calm my nerves. I knocked on the door and patiently waited for her to answer it
