NICOLE’S POV
Disappointment washed over me like cold water. I uncurled my fingers from Nathan’s as the pain in my heart echoed in my ears.
“They are not mine,” I repeated in a pained whimper. What kind of mother loses three of her children all at once?
“Are you sure?” Luca asked.
I glared at him with tears in her eyes. “What kind of mother do you think I am? I can identify my children in my sleep!” I snapped before storming out of the small trailer that was beginning to suffocate me.
Once outside, I fell on my knees as I dragged in shaky breaths noisily. It has been almost two weeks now since they were kidnapped. For all anyone knew, my children were probably lying in a ditch somewhere and that is my fault. I was unable to protect them.
