A NEW HOME

“What in the world is this monster?” the student cried out in fear at the sight of what they were seeing

Gaia was growling with claws coming out of her hand and furs coming out of her skin as she scanned the environment to check for the students who had mixed the beans flour in her food. She was still searching for them with her eyes red and blinded with fury. The energy of her witch side and her wolf side mixed making the power too much for her to handle and her insides were burning so much that she couldn’t control all the rush of powers and emotions she was feeling. Her hair was standing proudly and untangled at that instant, since her hair has always been tangled, it became amusing to all of them making them much more terrified.

It was as if something she had tried to suppress was suddenly flipped open with full force, she herself couldn’t even think properly, she was just growling in anger as she searched for the culprits

“I think we need to call her mother” one of the teachers stated and sent one of them home to call Lady Carolyn who already sensed what was happening due to the sudden darkness in the sky, she was already on the way to school to see if everything was alright when she met the teacher sent to call her

“I was on my way to call you” the teacher said panting

“why are you coming to call me? Is anything the matter?” she asked moving closer

“We don’t know what’s happening to Gaia, she’s behaving strangely, growling and bringing out claws and furs from her body” the teacher narrated

“Did she consume beans flour or any beans product?” Lady Carolyn asked hurrying to the school

“I don’t know about all that but the situation is not good right now” the teacher replied running along

Lady Carolyn got to school and saw her banging on the wall of the class where the students were locked up because of her. She rushed to her side and grabbed her by the waist, she hugged her from behind and cried on her shoulder for her to please calm down

“Please calm down Gaia, your mother is here so please calm down” Lady Carolyn said but she flung her off with just a hand but she was persistent, she hugged her again to calm her down

“Please Gaia, you have to come to your senses, this is dangerous” she cried into her ears and Gaia turned in a flash to grab her throat making her choke

“Please calm down Gaia” she begged with tears in her eyes but she threw her off into the small field in front of the class before banging on the door in anger and the door broke down

Before anyone could blink, she grabbed the two culprits and with just one move, she broke the shoulder of one making her cry out in pain, she punched the other in the belly and she fainted immediately with her rib broken. Lady Carolyn managed to stand up from where she was thrown and rushed to her so she would not wound them further.

She hugged her again tight from the back and cried hard into her ears to please come to her senses, since she had carried out the revenge she wanted, the power drained in her immediately and she fell into her mother’s hand. She went weak immediately, the hair got tangled again, her skin came back to normal and her claws were retracted before she fainted completely in her mother’s hand.

With the help of some people, she was able to take her home and lay her on the bed where she slept throughout the day. Lady Carolyn thought about what to do with what just happened all day and concluded that she will have to protect her daughter at all cost.

Gaia finally woke up the next morning and saw Lady Carolyn sitting beside her on the bed dozing off because she didn’t sleep all through the night.

“Mother” she groaned and stirred making Lady Carolyn spring up quickly

“My sweetheart, are you awake now? How are you feeling?” the lady said running to check up on her

“I am fine but why am I sleeping here? When did I come back from school?” she asked trying to sit up

“Don’t sit up, just lie there and take a lot of rest” Lady Carolyn cautioned

“What happened to me? Was I sick?” she asked again

“You just fainted on the way from school but don’t worry, I think the sun was too much for you. You are fine now” Lady Carolyn lied

“Let me get you a cup of tea to calm you down before you eat” Lady Carolyn said heading out of the room

She realized that she had forgotten all that happened

She went to the kitchen and brew some primrose tea, she carried the cup on the tray and sighed as she stared at what was in her hand

“I am very sorry, I have to do this for your sake” she said before taking the tea to her

She sat up and took the tea her mother brought, immediately she felt her stomach twitch and her body was sweating profusely, she became weak and her vision was blurry

“Mother, I don’t know what is happening to me, I am getting weak” she said but Lady Carolyn held her hand

“It’s because the tea is used for calming, don’t worry when you rest and wake up, you will become strengthened once again” Lady Carolyn said to her and guided her to sleep and in minutes she was snoring

She watched her sleep on the bed and muttered she was sorry continuously because she knew the tea wasn’t for calming, she had made research and found out that the primrose drains the power in her to some extent. She had been hesitant to feed her something like that but with what happened the previous day, she was forced to take that decision.

After three days of taking care of her, Lady Carolyn called her after dinner and sat her down to talk to her

“We will be travelling tomorrow” Lady Carolyn said to her holding her hand

“Where are we going to? I have to resume school” she asked but her mother just smiled

“Don’t worry, you will resume school. We just have to be in a place by tomorrow” her mother assured her

“Is it somewhere far? Are we going to stay there for long?” he asked further still not satisfied

“You are too inquisitive, you will see for yourself tomorrow” the lady said and she smiled

“Just have a good sleep and we will set out early tomorrow, you don’t have to worry about anything” the lady added assuring her that everything will be alright

The set out the following day and took the boat to the other side of the town, they walked for up two hours until they got to another town where they passed through to the water side and took another boat

“The place seems to be very far” she complained

“Don’t worry, we will be there soon” Lady Carolyn said holding her hand as they marched on to the boat side

They entered the boat and it brought them to the island before they walked into the island with nothing but tall trees and sand with the water flowing through the middle of a broken rock

“People live here?” she asked looking around

“Yes, someone lives here” Lady Carolyn replied as she led the way to the small house beside the big rock

As soon as they got to the house, an old woman came out to them. Her white woolen hair was rolled as if they were to be made into a perm, she was resting on a stick with a flame like structure on it and her vision seemed blurry because her eyelids were almost swallowing up her eyeballs but she saw everything well without difficulty

“You are finally here” the woman stated

Lady Carolyn turned to Gaia and held her hand with tears in her eyes making the poor girl wonder what was happening

“Why are you crying?” she asked looking at both the woman and her mother

“This will be your new home, you will have to be staying here with this woman from now on” Lady Carolyn told her

“No I don’t want to, why should I be staying here? I don’t want to stay with someone else, I want to live with you” she cried under unto Lady Carolyn’s hand tightly

“I’m sorry my poor baby, you can resent me all you want but this is for your own good” Lady Carolyn said removing her hand

“Are you dumping me here too because I am monster? You are leaving me here because you can’t deal with me anymore? Who will accept me if you are rejecting me?” she cried hard but Lady Carolyn just bowed to the old woman

“Please take care of her for me” she said to her before turning her back

Gaia wanted to run towards her but the old woman stretched forth her stick making a wall come up between them

“Why are you doing this to me? Let me go, I want to live with my mom” she cried but the old woman just stared her

She tried to use her own magic on the wall but nothing happened making her wonder what was wrong

“The moment you stepped on this island, your powers have been locked, you cannot do anything with your powers anymore so don’t waste your time and strength” the old woman told her and turned to enter the house

“For how long am I going to stay with you here? Am I going to live with you here forever?” she cried running after her

“The day you learn how to love will be the day you leave this island, your energy is too dangerous for the world” Aurelia said to her as she watched her mother leave without her

“You are telling me I’ll be confined to this island for years?” Gaia protested

“As soon as you learn how to love, you will be released, don’t worry” Aurelia assured her as she moved further into the house

“I don’t think I’ll be leaving anytime soon then” She muttered to herself as she followed Aurelia who was meters ahead of her already
