KEEPER OF THE DESERTED ISLAND

GROWING

Gaia began to get used to the island where she and Aurelia was staying, they were the only ones living on the island but she would take the boat to the neighboring town every day to school. She began to get adapted since she had no choice and Aurelia made it easy for her because she would always behave as if she didn’t exist. She would do her own jobs and chores without talking much but she was always ready to listen to Gaia when she complains or rant

“Thank God she’s not the type that nags, I would have been so tired of living with her” she said to herself as she walked in the middle of the tall trees as she walked back home one evening from school, she was thinking about her memories

“At least, she doesn’t rile me up like those runts in the other town and the school here is peaceful” she added and dropped her bag on the shelf before looking around to see that Aurelia had kept coconut drinks for her in its shell, she had grown to like them when she came to the island and couldn’t wait to gulp the cool drink down her throat

She slept and woke up to see Aurelia testing bows in front of the house and walked up to her to ask what she wanted to do with it but Aurelia just drew it in silence and before she knew what was happening, it hit a squirrel running on the tall coconut tree in front of them and it fell down dead

“Wow! How did you manage to do that? Must be magic” she gasped

“I already told you that there is no magic on this island, its high time you learnt how to fight because you cannot rely on your magic” Aurelia said to her and she chuckled

“Why should I fight? I don’t have the intention of mingling with people and I have come to like this island so that means I will be staying here for the rest of my life, I do not have a reason so let me be” she replied coldly

“do you know a secret about you? You are just a grenade lying at rest till it will be ignited, your heart is still very cold and you don’t even know when it will fire up, do you think you will stay like this forever? One day, there will be a need to desperately protect something you love and if you don’t train yourself now, the coldness of your heart will take over that day, the grenade will be ignited and you will show no mercy, you won’t even know where to stop because you will understand no boundaries since you are someone who doesn’t have emotion thanks to your mother who raised you not to mingle with people around you” Aurelia said to her and grabbed her hand before placing the bow on her palm

“You need to train yourself” she added and kicked her stand into the position which was appropriate

She explained the details and rules guiding the skills to her and she began to practice daily, she then proceeded to use her archery skills for hunting which was exciting for her. Her skills were getting polished over time and she could hit her target without worry. Aurelia would send her out to all school gatherings and tell her to feel emotion and mingle with people, she was turning a new leaf gradually and making friends with them although she didn’t go too deep in friendship

Aurelia would always keep her in check and remind her that she still has a mission of learning how to control her powers since they were too strong for her, a mixture of two powerful being in just her body.

Jerrick increased the workload of Convel and made sure to frustrate him but he pretended as if he didn’t understand what was going on, since he was a wolf who are known to be strong in nature, he would work faster and better than everyone but Jerrick was bent on making him realize that he is a rival to him.

Shirley continued her maid lifestyle after turning Jerrick’s proposal to be his wife down every time until something happened one day

Jerrick was hosting his birthday party and the king made sure to prepare abundance of everything for his only son. He ordered for Shirley to be bathed and dressed up then brought to him and the maids did as they were told even though she protested when she was being bathed and dressed up. She was then taken to Jerrick who was drinking alone in his room after the party

“You can all go, I want us to be alone” he said to the other maids and they bowed out of the room immediately

“You should have your seat or does your leg not hurt?” he stated and she slowly had her seat by the other side of the table

“You should come here to my side, there is no how we can talk conveniently if you are that far away” he added but she didn’t budge

“I think we can talk conveniently this way” she replied but he slammed his hand on the table

“It’s an order, not a suggestion” he gritted and she had no choice but to move closer to him

He slowly reached out his hand and parted her hair covering her face, which she did intentionally so she would not have any eye contact with him. He drunkenly gazed at her and stroked her cheeks before smiling a little

“I used to adore this cheek a lot back then when we were small and would play around everywhere, how did everything disappear like this?” he remarked and she shook her face to remove his hand

“You still despise me so much even after all these years, what do you even know about me to judge me this way? I sincerely care for you but you don’t seems to understand my feelings, or is my love too hard to accept?” he asked drunkenly

“You are too drunk My Lord, I will make your bed so you can sleep” she said standing up but he dragged her down to his lap suddenly making her gasp in shock

She was still processing the shock when he dived in for a kiss and she fought to remove his mouth but he was pressing down on her mouth so hard, she kicked his leg to untangle herself but his bone was stronger than hers, she didn’t even know where the power came from but she managed to hit his chest so hard that he fell to his back hard

“What do you think you are doing? Do I look like some cheap w***e? I am a mother! I already told you the other day that we are never friends anymore and you still showed this animalistic side of yours to make me hate you the more” she yelled at him and wiped her mouth before turning to leave for the door when his voice cut through

“is there anyone out there?” he screamed and the guards open the door to come in

“Take her away and lock her up” he instructed and stood up to face her

“This is where our friendship really ends, I have tried my best to prove to you that I love you but you were the one that rejected me so you know” he said before telling them to take her away

“I’ll never forget this humiliation I received from you today, I will make sure to pay you back” She yelled as she was dragged away forcefully
