Finally it’s Friday... Yaaaay... I love Fridays, my favourite day of the week, because it’s the last workday. We were sitting in the canteen with Tyler , Tim, Joey ,his girlfriend Nora and few colleagues because it was lunch break. Nora was always nice to me but since we work together she became jealous of me. She didn't speak english or dutch so that's why I guess. However she tried not to show it but I could see through her. She had always a fake smile on her face when we were talking, but when she thought nobody payed attention to her, she was staring at me hatefully. I don't know what my brother saw in her, I think he deservs better, but it's his life, his choice.
We were joking and laughing like always, I like this group, I was never bored with them. Joey had an idea and said excitedly
“hey, why we don’t make a party by our house, I think Andrew and Elena wouldn’t mind and Tim , you should come too.”
“Sure, why not... I was wondering anyway when you´re gonna invite me already...” Tim said jokingly.
“Okay , than it’s settled, everybody can come by around 8, is that good with you guys?” Joey asked and looked at everyone.
We said ´yes it’s good´ but Tim was hesitant and finally asked
“Tyler, can you and Nina pick me up please, I want to drink but then I can not drive and since Nina anyway needs to drive... can you?” Tyler look at me expectedly ,he was smirking. Tyler noticed that Tim wasn’t talking to the girls too much, it seemed like he was a bit embarrassed when he needed to talk with us so Tyler enjoyed the situation, they liked to tease each other.
“It’s fine by me but Nina is the driver so you need to ask her.” said Tyler. Tim look at me ,some emotions flash over his face, seems like he was a bit nervous and embarrassed, I guess that’s why he asked Tyler instead of me.
“Hm... Nina, can you maybe pick me up and drop me home after, ...please? “ he said with a smile and scratched the back of his neck.
“Sure, we can, no problem, be ready around half 8.” I said with a smile.
“Okay, thank you, I will send the address to Tyler.” Tim said with a smile when the bell rings, what means the break is over.
Afternoon we went to pick Tim up, he lived in a nice area, it looked like only rich people were living there. Tim parents were directors, his mother in the hospital, his father by a company I don’t know about. So let’s just say that they could afford a house like this.
And there he was, handsome as hell in his expensive clothes, a black polo T-shirt and jeans. His hair was gelled back and he wore sunglasses. He looked good I must admit. He got into the car and we headed off to Joey’s. I had an old Mercedes A-klasse and it was green. I know it was not the best auto and the colour was not the nicest either, but I loved it. This was my first car and I bought it from the money what we worked hard for.
Noah was coming with us too, he could watch TV or play with something in the meantime, anyway I wasn´t drinking so he used to come with us and enjoyed that he could stay awake as long as he could and play with his uncles and aunties.
We are having fun, talking laughing, playing drinking games. I couldn’t drink so I was not part of the game.. it sucked to be the driver, but it was what it was. They felt sorry for me, everybody was drinking and laughing... I had fun too, but still it was different. We went home around 2 am but Tyler and Tim didn’t want the evening to end and me neither so we decided to go to our condo and there continue... in my case... there start.
They were quiet tipsy already so I joined them, we played some drinking games. You needed to play it with cards and fortunately I won almost every round, but I drank anyway , I just wanted to. You need to know that Tim was not the loser type, he was a sore loser but I enjoyed winning against him and rubbed it in his face.
It was around 6 am when we headed to bed. Tim looked like he was a bit sad when we went into our room with Tyler and he went into the guest room or maybe he was just tired.
The next morning or rather the same morning but later when we woke up it was already 11 am. Tyler had a terrible hangover so he didn’t want to come with us to drop Tim home. I didn’t feel the best either, but I didn’t drink so much so I could handle it. Tim on the other hand started with a beer for breakfast... the guy liked to drink no question there.
We were sitting in the car awkwardly, he made me nervous , I couldn’t help it, I was worried if I look good enough and wondering what he was thinking about me. My heart wanted to jump out of my chest when I felt his eyes on me but when I look at him, he turned his head back to the front like he was just looking around.
Few minutes later we were talking about everything and nothing, joking, laughing. We had always fun together, ´I guess that’s why I like him.´
´Wait... do I like him? ....shit....
Yes, I do. There is no use to deny it.
I like him, but that’s just can’t happen . He is our boss and a friend of Tyler. Oh my god, what if Tyler finds out? What if he sees through me? That’s can not happen. s**t, I am screwed. Maybe this is just a sudden desire and it will go away soon, I hope and anyway he doesn’t like me back for sure, why would he?.. Let’s just forget about it.´ I thought.
“Nina”
“...”
“Nina?”
“...”
Tim waved his hand in the front of me, I guess I was too deep in my thoughts to notice him talking to me.
“Hmm?” I hummed when I came back to reality .
“Are you okay?” he asked with concern.
“Yes, yes...I am fine, why?” I said in confusion.
“Just because you zoned out on me there for a few minutes, am I that boring?” he asked laughingly. “I was calling your name a few times but you just stared in the front of you..” I panicked a little, ´shit... he caught me.´
“No,no, no, you are not boring .... I was just ... just thinking about something, but it’s not important, sorry.” I said embarrassed. I feel my cheeks heating up. I guess I look like a tomato right now. Fortunately we just arrived to his house.
“Well, thanks for the ride.” he told me and gave me a high five with a smile. I just smile and say
“No problem at all... see you Monday at work?”
“Yes, see you, bye” he smiled at me and disappeared behind the door. I let out a long sigh and started the car.
“Way to go Nina” I told myself and headed home.
