Chapter 12

   When Tim left I just continued to work. Tyler was non stop calling me and arguing about a lot of things, he always found something to fight about and I had enough already. I had a lot to do, I didn’t have time for his childishness. I knew he was going to calm down eventually so I just didn’t pick up the phone for him. Usually I answerd his calls right away because I knew he will be angry if I didn’t, but I was annoyed so I didn’t care. I didn’t want to deal with him and I didn’t have time for that either. He called me minimum 10 times.

    Around 10 pm my phone was ringing again, at this time it was Tim who was calling so I picked it up.

“Hey” I said with a smile into the phone, he couldn´t see me but he always made me smile when he called.

“Hey Nina, everything is ok?” he asked worriedly.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?” I ask back in confusion.

“Well... I am on the phone with Tyler ,on the other one'' ...he said with a small laugh, he had two phones, one workphone and his privat... ''he asked me to call you and ask if everything is ok with you because he couldn’t reach you and he was ready to get into a taxi and drive there to check on you..” he said laughing awkwardly. Of course Tyler ...

“Oh... well... sorry he bothered you, I was just busy and didn’t have time to talk on the phone” I said a bit fustratedly.

“It’s ok, I wasn’t sleeping yet, I will just tell him to leave you alone then..” he said jokingly.

“Thanks Tim..” I said thankfully with a small smile.

“No problem, bye”

“Bye” I said. ´Unbelievable, he called Tim because I didn’t pick up, what did he expected after the way he talked to me. He is so selfish, he can talk whatever he wishes with me and later he acts like nothing wrong happened and I am just overacting it.´    I was busy with work and my phone was ringing again 10 minutes later. It was Tim , a small smile appeared on my face automatically.

“Hey” I greeted him.

“Hey” he said laughing a little.

“What is the real reason you didn’t pick up the phone for him? Did he argue with you again?” He asked.

“That’s right“ I said laughing “but I don’t really want to talk about him..” I said sadly.

“Yeah.. sorry, me neither “ he said “so, how is it going there?” He asked a few questions about work and we talked about everything and nothing. In the meantime I was doing my job. We were laughing so much and enjoyed the phone call like old friends, I didn’t even noticed it was already midnight.

“Oh.. shit.. sorry Tim I kept you awake so long, I didn’t even notice the time, you will be very tired tomorrow.” I said worried.

“Don’t worry about it, I can be a little late, I am the boss.. you know...?“ he said jokingly. I started to laugh, I liked how funny he was, we had the same kind of humor and that’s why he was really a good company. “... and anyway I like talking to you..” he said after seriously with a quiet voice and then silence. I was surprised he said that and the way how he said it. After a few quiet seconds I managed to whisper

“Me too, Tim. I like to talk to you too.” I said shyly. I heard him sighing on the other side of the line, like he wanted to say something but he was not sure he should say it.

“What is it Tim? Do you want to say something?” I asked him quietly, I wanted him to tell me what I wanted to hear but I was also worried how will that end. He let out a little laugh 

“What about you, Nina? Do you want to say something to me?“ he asked, he was smirking, I didn´t see him but I could hear it on his voice when he talked. I think we both know what the other wanted to say but we both didn´t say it for the same reason. My heart started to beat faster, I became very nervous about this conversation but on the other hand I was happy that he felt the same way like me, otherwise he wouldn’t be on the phone with me in the middle of the night already 2 hours long.

“You tell me first.” I said after a few seconds.

“No-no-no, first you.”he said with a laugh.

“No, I asked you first.” I said laughingly.

“Ninaaaaa” he growled. I started laughing harder and he gave up. I like sound of my name when he say it.

“Well... I don’t know....I will tell you one time what I think about you, ...but not now...” I said finally.

“Why not, I want to hear it now” he whispered. ´Oh my god his husky voice is making me crazy and horny.´ I could feel a very strong attraction between us even over the phone.

“Ok... “ I breathed out “but you first...” I said and he let out an annoyed sigh.

“No, you first” he said seriously.

“No way, you first or I will hang up” I argued.

“Jesus women, you are so stubborn... fine..” he said and took a deep breath. “I... I like you Nina” he whispered “I really, really like you” he continued with worried voice. ´So this is really happening, what I was worried about, I wanted to avoid him. Well done Nina... what I am going to do now?´ I sighed and I decided that I don’t care what was going to happen, I will be honest, he deserved it, I knew it wasn´t right and he knew it too, but I couldn´t deny my feelings for him.

“I like you too, Tim.... a lot” I said to him after a few heavy seconds in a low voice.“Really?” He asked quietly.

“Yeah” He sighed in relief when he heard me say that.

“I don’t know what you did to me Nina but I just can’t get you out of my head. I know it’s wrong and you are with Tyler and he is my friend and I am your boss, but I can’t help it. When I heard how he was treating you I became so mad at him, he doesn’t deserve you.. you deserve better.. and I didn’t want to be the first who say that I like you because of Tyler...” he said sadly “...but you are so stubborn...” he said while chuckling. ''I knew you like me too, I felt it. The attraction was too strong between us to be one sided.'' he said and I felt my face heat up from his words.

“Are you at home?” I ask him to change the subject.

“Yeah, I just got home, I was by my friends.” he said.

“Come ,visit me... you are awake anyway..” I said hopefully.

“I can’t drive, I was drinking.” he said. Of course he was drinking, he liked beer a lot. “Why don’t you come?” He asked. I was a little bit surprised but secretly I was hoping he would say that. My shift was till 1 am. ´Maybe I can drive home on the longer way.´ I thought.

“Hm... okay, but won’t you fall asleep till I get there? “asked shyly, my heart was beating rapidly in my chest.

“No, I will wait for you.” he said.

“Okay, but just for 15 minutes ... I will be there in 20, I just need to close up.” I said, I was very excited but I didn´t want to show him that.

“Okay, be careful on the way “ he said sweetly and hang up. I was a nervous wreck, my heart almost jump out of my chest. I never felt like this before, I was exited. I was thinking in the car what I was doing and what I was going to do when I got there, what I was going to tell him? This was so wrong, but I wanted to do this. So I drove to his house and sent him a message to let him know tha I was here. After 2 minutes the garage door opened and there he stood in a dark grey hoodie and jeans. He looked sleepy. I got out of the car and went to him.

“Hey, did you sleep already?” I asked him.

“Hey, yeah, I couldn’t stay awake“ he said on a husky voice. He took out a cigarette from his pocket and light it up. He seemed nervous. I look down and fell into doubt so I asked him

“What we are doing ?” I shake my head a little. He threw his cigarette away and said

“Come , let’s get into the car , it’s cold.” I agreed, it was really cold so I got into the car behind the wheel and he got in next to me.

“Look, I don’t know what’s gonna happen later but first you need to decide what You want, if you don’t want to be with Tyler, you need to tell him. If you end your relationship with him, then we can talk about this.” He motioned at us with his finger.

“Yes, I know, but it’s not easy.” I said sadly looking at my hands on my lap.

“I know” he said sadly. I lifted my head up and looked at him.

“I will brake up with him.” I said determined.
