Chapter 5

Crystal

I was in the shower thinking about last night's events. I learned so much, but had so much more I wanted to know. I was startled this morning when I heard a bunch of whispering and woke up to 5 guys around us. I was scared but I felt so safe in Mason’s arms. I felt better when he pulled me into his chest. They all seemed nice. I liked Aiden. He was funny.

I was rinsing my hair when I felt a burning sensation on my back. I forgot about the cut and let the shampoo run down my back. I tried to rinse it under cold water but that just made it worse. I went to grab my towel but ended up slipping. I fell on my left hip and screamed from how much it hurt.

I heard the door hit the wall.

“Crystal!”

Mason shouted as he ran into the bathroom. I was curled up holding my hip and trying to cover myself with my other hand. He turned the water off, grabbed the towel and draped it over me. He picked me up and sat on one of the shower benches, placing me gently in his lap. He moved the towel and started examining my back. I looked at the floor and saw blood everywhere. I new it wasn’t as bad as it looked though.

“What the hell happened?”

I saw all the guys in the bathroom, looking at all the blood on the shower floor. I buried my face in Mason’s chest. Embarrassment rushing through me from being completely exposed. Mason tense up and pulling my towel around me as tight as he could.

“Get out of here!” Mason yelled at them.

“Is she okay? That’s a lot of blood man”

“Do you need us to call an ambulance?” Josh asked.

“Just get out!”

Mason shouted at them again. Not caring that I was soaking him, I pulled myself closer to him.

I heard the door close and Mason moved the towel down again to look at my back.

“What happened?”

“I forgot about the cut and rinsed the shampoo from my hair,” I said, wiping my face with part of the towel.

“It’s definitely irritated”

He stood up and walked me to the sink. He set me down gently as he went through the first aid kit. He bandaged me up and put the kit away.

“Anything else get injured?” He asked as he leaned against the counter. I pulled up the towel just enough so he could only see my hip.

He stood right in front of me. Placing his right hand on my thigh, moving it up towards my hip, sending a tingling sensation through my body and right to my core. I let out a small gasp. I’ve never felt that before. He placed his other hand on my right hip over the towel.

I felt his hand on my bare skin, moving from my hip up towards my waist. His hand stopped moving as he rested his head on my shoulder. I tilted my head back enjoying this feeling. I felt him kiss my neck and with that I let out a soft moan.

Mason pulled away. Leaving me with this cold feeling.

“I’m sorry”

He pulled away, running his hand through his hair

“I’ll be in your room if you need me”

Waking to the door, he looked back at me before closing it. I sat there confused and hurt. ‘Why did he stop? I mean… I wanted him to stop.. right?’

I caught my breath and slid off the counter. I put on black leggings, a pale pink fitted shirt and a large baby blue sweater with some fluffy white socks. I skipped the bra again since I wasn’t planning on going anywhere today either.

When I came out Mason was sitting on the bed. He looked up at me and smiled, motioning for me to come over. I stood in front of him. He grabbed my hands, pulled me between his legs and wrapped his arms around me pulling me into a hug. I ran my hand through his dark silky hair. After a few minutes he pulled away.

“Lucas called,” he handed me his phone. “Your battery died so I sent the guys out to go get you a charger. Since none of us had one that worked for yours”

“Thank you” I said as I grabbed his phone.

“The code is 041995”

“That’s funny”

“What is?” he stood up.

“Your code is the same as my birthday” I smiled as I unlocked the phone.

He smiled, “I know,” he kissed my forehead and left the room.

He used my birthday as his code? I thought to myself as I dialed Lucas’ number. He answered right away.

“Is she ok? Why isn’t she answering my phone? If you did something to her Mason I’m gonna-“

“Good morning to you too” I laughed as I cut him off.

“Crystal! Why haven’t you been answering my calls or texts?” He sounds like a father who has been waiting for his daughter to come home.

“My phone was dead. Also I’m fine and Mason hasn’t done anything to me” I started to blush as I thought of what happened in the bathroom just moments ago.

“Good. I’ll stop by today to see you and bring you some of your things. It’s not much and Mason said he got you what you would need.”

“Thank you. He has gotten me a lot of stuff. His friends went to get me a charger. When will you be over?”

“After practice so a little after noon”

“Okay. I’ll see you then”

“Love you”

“Love you too”

I walked to the living room, but no one was here. I placed his phone on the table, sitting on the couch, pullin a fluffy blanket over me and took some more of my medicine. I started to flip through the channels when I began to feel sleepy. I took off my sweater and snuggled into the fluffy blanket. Letting sleep take over..

Mason

I was in the shower trying to cool off. I couldn’t believe she let me touch her like that. Would she have been mad if I went further? When she pulled up that towel I couldn’t help myself and when she moaned as I kissed her neck. I nearly lost all self control I had. If it wasn’t for my phone vibrating in my pocket we might have done something she would have regretted later.

I was happy to see her wearing my clothes. I was thinking of some way to get her to take them when she went back home tomorrow. I got dressed quickly putting on some dark gray sweats and a black shirt. I headed back to the living room.

I could hear the guys whispering. ‘Why are they whispering?’ I thought as I walked in the living room. My question was answered quickly when I saw Crystal laying on the couch. I saw Aiden practically drooling over her. That didn’t bother me as much since he does that to every girl. What bothered me was how much everyone else was staring at her. They didn’t even notice I walked in the room.

I smacked Aiden in the back of the head. Causing everyone to look at me. They all turned towards the T.V. I stood in front of Crystal. She looked so comfortable. I was a little disappointed that she took off my sweater. Especially since she was wearing a tighter shirt with no bra. You could see her hourglass figure and perfectly rounded chest. As much as I loved seeing her like this. I didn’t want everyone else to do the same. I covered her up and lifted her head that was resting on a pillow so I could sit down and have her head on my lap.

“So who’s driving to Gemma’s?” Andrew asked.

“I’ll drive,” Sam said as he grabbed the remote and flipped through the channels.

“Since that is taken care of. What are you going to tell Gemma?” Eithan said, looking at me.

“I’m not going”

Looking at Crystal, running my hand through her hair.

“You can’t bail on the party!” Aiden shouted

Causing Crystal to stir. Everyone remained silent till she settled down. We all glared at Aiden.

“Sorry” he mouthed.

“I’m not leaving her for Gemma”

“Wouldn’t it be better to go to the party to end things with Gemma face to face?” Josh asked.

I don’t know why he was looking at her like this, but I don’t like it.

“There is nothing to end. We were never together. She was just an easy lay”

It remained silent for a while. I was getting really annoyed with the guys being here. I kept catching them sneaking glances at her. I don’t blame them, but it was still annoying.

After a few episodes of whatever Sam was watching we heard someone walk into the room.

“Where is she?”

Lucas asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

“Shh!!” Everyone said to him

I pointed at my lap and he walked to the couch and looked over.

“How long has she been sleeping?”

He walked over and moved a few stray hairs from her face.

“A couple of hours”

“I brought some of her things,” he said, holding up a bag.

“I’ll take it to her room”

Josh stood up and grabbed the bag from him

“I’ll put her phone on the charger too”

“Thanks,” handing over the bag “How has she been? How’s the wound?”

“It’s all good. She slept out here last night. The medicine put her to sleep rather quickly and I didn’t want to wake her just to go to the bedroom”

Aiden chuckled. I knew he was thinking about the position we were in this morning. I glared at him.

“What?” Lucas furrowed his eyebrows.

“I was thinking about the greeting she gave us this morning. She looked like she was going to attack us,” Aiden smiled.

Lucas smiled down at her, trying to hold back a laugh. Josh came back with Crystal’s phone, looking furious.

“It’s not charged all the way, but you’re gonna wanna see this”

Handing the phone to me. I could see the notifications and I was livid. I looked at Lucas, hoping he would know her code.

“071994”

My heart fluttered at this. She used my birthday as her code. Did she remember or was it just a strange coincidence? The feeling was replaced with anger. She had 6 missed calls and there were texts threatening her. I gently moved her off my lap and nodded my head towards the office signaling for the guys to follow.

“Follow us,” I told Lucas.

In my office I sat in my chair, Eithan shutting the door behind us. I placed her phone on my desk and slid it towards Lucas.

He grabbed the phone and I could see his face quickly change.

“Who the hell sent these?”

“What did you do at the party last night?” Josh asked from behind me.

“What does that have to do with any of this?”

“Did you speak to a girl named Gemma?” I handed the phone to Josh.

“No”

“Did you sleep with someone at the party?”

“I don’t remember her name, but she was blonde and had a horrible fake tan” he crossed his arms “how did you know about that?”

“Did you tell her about Crystal staying here?”

“No!” He shouted “what does this have to do with anything?”

I nodded at Josh to fill him in on what was going on.

“After you guys came out of the room she was ranting about how Crystal was just Mason’s new toy and he would be over with her in a week”

“Lucas” I ran my hand through my hair “We can’t help her if you’re not completely honest with us. We all want to keep her safe, but I need you to tell me what happened?”

“Why?” He looked concerned.

“Gemma is not someone who makes a threat without following through with it. She may not get her own hands dirty but she knows people who will do it for her”

I saw a look of regret cross his face before he looked at me.

“It all happened so fast. I was pissed that I had to leave her here with you”

I leaned back in my chair.

“I drank way more than what I was expecting when she approached me. We ended up in the room and after we slept together she started going on about how she wasn’t surprised you didn’t show up because you were busy with your new girlfriend” he sighed and rubbed the back of neck “she was saying you were telling everyone that you already slept with your new girlfriend and had pictures to prove it. After that I freaked out and let Crystal's name slip out. Saying she wouldn’t let you touch her”

I was getting angry and wanted to tell him what happened in the bathroom just to send him over the edge.

“After that I really don’t remember”

“As far as we know, all Gemma has is a name, but she’ll know who she is come Monday morning. We’ll have to keep tabs on Crystal and see if any of her classes are with Gemma” I turned to Eithan “I need you to get the schedules and change her classes around if they share any”

“You got it” Eithan pulled out his phone, starting to make some phone calls.

“What’s going to happen?” Lucas looked defeated.

“We’re going to have to keep tabs on Crystal at all times” Josh answered, crossing his arms.

“I think it would be best if she stayed here with me”

“You’re out of your mind if you think I’m going to leave her with you”

“She would be safer here with me and she wouldn’t have to worry about packing up whenever your mom comes around”

Neither of us looking away or breaking eye contact.

“What makes you think she would want to stay here?”

“I’m not going to force her to stay. She is free to do whatever she wants, but I want her to know that she is more than welcome to stay here”

I knew he wasn’t going to be on board with this, but I couldn’t let her leave. I was doing this to keep her safe, but I was also doing it for my own selfish reasons. I just hope she’ll agree to stay.
