Chapter 33: Blindfold

“Master Javier, aren’t you going to stop Lady Kira from competing?.. .” Allen worriedly asked. Even if Lady Kira is a neglected princess, she was still the daughter of the Alpha. So, if something happens to her because of this, it won’t look good to them.

It might even tarnish the reputation of their Alpha and some castles might say that Master Javier is a heartless father who doesn’t care about his children.

Master Javier clearly knows what his beta was trying to point out. If he doesn’t do anything to stop them from competing in the life and death contract, he will be forever branded as an uncaring father.

But if he were going to stop it, this would show cowardice to the royal family. Especially since it was Kira, herself, who proposed the life and death contract. He really wants to strangle that child right now in his hands. She would always bring trouble for him in every situation!

“I think it’s already too late for Master Javier to take some action.” Clovis looked at Kira on the stage and said, “As you can see, they have already signed the life and death contract. We know that once a contract is signed, no one can change it, even the involved parties don’t have the power to do so.”

“We’re doomed… Master Javier, what should we do?…” Allen shook his head worriedly, “Lady Kira is too ignorant of how this would affect the royal family’s reputation! I thought she had become smarter in the past weeks but I was completely wrong!”

Master Javier also has the same thought as him. The reason he hasn’t been paying attention to her these past weeks is that she has become silent and was behaving quite well. He would definitely punish her once this examination is over!

Alder, who was watching in the inconspicuous corner, glanced at his subordinate and smiled, “Do you want to make a bet with me?”

“What kind of bet, Master?” Jett could not help but ask.

“Alder pointed at the stage and smiled evilly, “Let’s bet as to who will win this archery?”

“Master, there’s no need for us to bet.” Jett frowned and looked at the stage, “It’s very clear that Mr. Anthony Flynn will win this competition. He was the best at archery in the whole castle, while Lady Kira hadn’t even touched a bow in her whole lifetime. It’s impossible for her to win.”

“You really never learned…” Alder, disappointed, shook his head, “I’ll bet Kira will win.”

Jett’s eyes widened and looked doubtfully at his master, “Master, are you really that fond of Lady Kira to blindly side with her?”

Alder crossed his arms around his chest and stared intently at the red-dressed woman on the stage, “I told you, in life and death contract, the strongest should fear the weakest…”

On the stage, the examiner was left with no choice but to let them sign the life and death contract. No one stood up to stop this challenge from happening and he also doesn’t have the power to stop it.

It’s now up to fate whether someone will come out dead after this examination. This would definitely cause an uproar once this news goes public.

Kira picked up the brush and carefully wrote her name. If her memory serves her right, this is her first time writing her name since her rebirth. The name was carefully chosen for her by her mother.

As she wrote her name on the paper, she recalled the times when her mother was still by her side. She remembered how her mother would carefully teach her how to write her name gently and elegantly.

Kira could still remember her mother’s face whenever she reads her name. ‘Kira Xanthe, I gave you that name because you are a very special child. Do you know what your name represents?’

A young Kira raised her head in full curiosity, ‘What does it mean, mother?’

Carrie Kholins smiled warmly and hugged the little Kira closer to her. ‘Kira means “ruler’ and Xanthe means “fair”. I named you Kira Xanthe because I know someday you will become a fair and just ruler. I sincerely hoped that.’

As Kira finished writing her name, a sad smile slightly formed on her red lips. A just and fair ruler… In her last life, she failed to become the person her mother wanted her to be… And in this lifetime, she can’t accomplish that wish once more.

Kira intently looked at her name. ‘Mother, I know you will be disappointed with me right now but I hope you will be able to forgive me. I promise once everything is over, once I have attained my revenge, I will try to live the life you wanted me to be… But right now, please understand my decisions.’

Next, who would write is Anthony, who had a heavy feeling in his heart. He did not expect that he would end up writing a life and death contract in this examination. It would be a lie if he would say that he wasn’t afraid, he was deeply afraid inside.

Especially after observing Lady Kira right now, who was so calm and composed throughout the process, the fear in his heart even grew stronger.

After writing his name, he looked at Kira and said, “Let’s place the target at 100 meters. This would increase the difficulty of our competitions, don’t you agree?”

The hall started to liven up after her words were spoken. In archery, no one had ever tried blindfolding the archers. It’s very difficult to guess the target if one’s eyes are covered.

Anthony was equally baffled and dumbstruck as everyone! Putting on a blindfold?!… Even he, himself, hasn’t done that. What made Kira so confident to even propose to do that?!

He was about to speak but he heard her voice once more, “Anthony Flynn, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do it, others won’t be able to do it as well. Remember, you are not the only living genius in this world.”
