"She is here," Noel exclaimed, all his senses attuning to her scent. "She is here!" I was bewildered as I quickly pulled out my phone and turned on the flashlight. I showed it around, my eyes searching for her. For a moment, I couldn't see anything. But as my vision adjusted, I blinked, my eyes falling on the tiny figure curled in a ball at the last stair.
What was she doing here?
"Rose," I exclaimed, and she almost jumped in fright, her eyes wide and filled with fear as I turned the torch light to her face. She looked terrified, and I could almost taste her fear as she shuffled away from my grasp.
