I took Mum upstairs and wheeled her to the nearest room. The doors were open, and I walked inside, my eyes taking it in. It had matching furniture, was kept clean, but was empty. I swallowed, then led her to the bed. Gently, I put her in, then tucked her, grateful for the fact that she didn't wake up despite all of the hurdles of climbing the stairs. I smoothened the covers out, then slowly stepped out of the room, turning off the lights and closing the door behind me.
